Chapter 1 - Restart

I had been the average man, I played videogames after work, drank a beer occasionally, served in the military for a bit. I was ordinary in most ways. My most extraordinary value was working as a CIA field agent. My team and I didn't do much but when we did it usually ended with swat teams called in.

I was on one of those one right now. This small cartel had gotten ahold of some very big guns that we didn't want in the streets. We had been sent in to hunt down and destroy the weapons. I obviously went bad as the concrete wall and ground was being ground to sand by a big ass machine gun.

Gunfire echoed through the streets as gang members fought and we tried to survive. While moving I caught a bullet to the back, it was small cal but it had hit my spine. I dropped like a sack of potatoes and hit the asphalt. I looked up to see my team firing all around us as they fell to gunfire so thick I could see the bullets lancing through the air.

Everything started fading and my team was cut down to two. As they fell I closed my eyes and dropped into deaths cold embrace.

I opened my eyes to sand and blood stained dirt. I turned over onto my back and sat up, I could feel my body again and it hurt. I looked down and found myself covered in bloody sand and dirt with a small knife sticking out of the leather armored clothing I had on. I looked around and found myself surrounded by bodies and a few destroyed carts with weird and ugly pink cows.

I found myself in a desert beside a long road with no signage I could see. I went and grabbed the only functioning cart I could and wheeled it over to the bodies and other carts. I grabbed everything I could and realized where I was.

I was in the world of Fallout. I found multiple varmint rifles, 357 magnums, 9mm pistols, a 10mm pistol, a cowboy repeater, two hunting rifles, a 9mm smg, a sawed off shotgun, a laser pistol, a laser RCW, and a grenade rifle. Along side the weapons I found some dynamite sticks, and two frag mines. I found a few knives, machetes, and a single tire iron with most bodies as well.

After grabbing the weapons I looted the ammo and medical supplies I could find. After those I found some food and water along with a super stimpack. While searching the bodies I found a leather duster and a cowboy hat. I quickly stripped them and put them on with the holsters he had.

With everything looted I estimated that the cart had about 400 pounds of gear in it. After a bit I could no longer see the wreckage of what was assumed was a caravan and the people who tried to raid it. I had woken up in this world as myself but there were a few differences.

I had been 6 foot tall in my previous life but I now stood a bit taller then I had. My hair was nearly at my shoulders which was different. I also had a nice beard, which I liked as I could never grow a good one in the past. My clothes and look made me look like a cowboy or oldtimey mercenary.

After a few hours of pushing the cart it began getting darker. I pushed the cart to a large rack on the side of the road and set it at an angle. I pinned a tent top on the rock and cart with a few small rocks and set up a hot plate and bedroll. A hour of cooking and eating some meat stew I laid down for the night.

I woke to the blinding harsh sunlight shining through the small roof I had made. I quickly made some more stew and ate while packing thing up. After a few minutes I was back on the road. Around half a day later I found an old red rocket truck stop with an old destroyed truck. This seemed to be an automated station as there was no inside, just a big sign, a small building with vending machines inside and the shelter with pumps under it.

I climbed ontop of the building and looked around. All I could see was desert and mountains to the horizon. After looking around I continued walking the road and eventually set up for the night. I had the same meat stew that morning and evening for dinner. I continued like that for about a week before I saw some movement up the road.

There was a camp with smoke gushing out all around. I moved the cart to a rock and grabbed the service rifle. I moved towards the camp slowly and got behind a big rock on the outskirts of the area. In the camp I could see many bodies and some raiders of some sort.

I scaled the rock and got a much better view of the camp. Within were 6 raiders and a Brahmin that had survived the attack. I raised the rifle and dropped 3 enemies before they could do anything. Bullets began peppering the rock as I jumped down and circled around. I saw and shot another raider leaving two left. When the ran out of ammo in their guns I popped out and put them down.

The 6 idiots had clearly not been trained and had simply fired at me hoping to get me. I went over to make sure they were all dead then tied up the Brahmin. I left and brought my cart back as this destroyed caravan had a bigger and better wagon. I gathered some more of what I already had and filled up the wagon with plenty of the caravans goods.

I was now riding a wagon pulled by a Brahmin with lots of loot and other goods but I hadn't found any civilization yet. At night time I noticed some dim light at the bottom of the mountains ahead of me. When it was morning and I had plenty of light I used a pair of binoculars from the caravan and could see a military fort at an opening in the mountains.

A few hours later I arrived at the entrance fence of the fort and an NCR trooper walked up to me. "Please give me your papers sir." He said and I looked at him like he was stupid. "I have no papers, I am a traveler and I found a destroyed caravan and took what I could." I made up an answer and he seemed to buy it but mentioned I would need to file some info at some building ahead after having my items checked.

After my stuff was checked and I made up some info for the papers I was allowed through with a road toll. I wasn't going to argue about the tax as it was their base and road. After going through the final fence I arrived at a place I recognized. It was the Mojave outpost, the NCRs main entrance into the Mojave as the divide was destroyed by the courier delivering a package.

When I got through I began selling everything I had on the cart, from the guns and ammo to the variety of supplies I had. After two more days of selling I no longer had anything but a bag of supplies and my clothing with my weapons and ammo. I had made around 20,000 caps and even after I bought a small one room garage. With the garage I began what I had been planning to do since I arrived at the outpost.

I went down the road to a large transport truck and started unloading its cargo. People stared at me like I was dumb but I simply smiled and kept working. When I was done I began disassembling the 6 motorcycles I now had in my garage. A few days later I had everything taken apart and mapped out. I needed multiple things to make this work but right now I needed one thing, a working engine.

I needed a power source first so I bought multiple fission batteries and connected them onto were the gas tank thing had been. The engine was made with the others and a small generator I had bought. I took advantage of the near infinite power output of the batteries and made the engine to last and extremely long period without needing maintenance or repair.

Before I had begun working on the engine I paid for crimson caravan to obtain powerful springs and large airless wheels. The work for the suspension was very crappy and dangerous do to the springs but I eventually got proper a proper suspension system on the bike. After the suspension I put on the wheels and began the process of armoring the bike.

I had paid multiple scavengers to get me 8mm to 10mm steel and I bought a plasma rifle. I turned the rifle into a plasma welder to make nearly flawless welds that had no weakness at the connections. After a few days of welding and shaping metal I finally finished the bike. With the bike done I welded some storage boxes on the back and sides and put in a comfortable seat I made.

With the bike finished I began work on my armor. I started with the heavy metal armor and a damaged combat armor I managed to by from a trader. The end product looked like combat armor reinforced with metal armor and my helmet was a metal biker helmet with a steel flip visor and reinforced glass. Under my armor I wore a black body glove I made with a balaclava and goggles under the helmet.

I had two holsters with a 9mm in each. On my back I had a custom armored backpack with magnetic and rubber clamps to put my service rifle and hunting shotgun on. On my bike was toe sawed off shotguns one each side of the battery. The side storage of the bike had ammo and othe weapons in the and the main storage had lots of survival supplies, such as medical, food and water, and camping equipment.

With everything ready I trashed the stuff in the garage and resold it to the outpost. I left with 2,000 caps left and everything I had and headed towards Novac. I drove straight through Nipton pit stop and the town itself around midday and got to wolfhorn ranch at night. The place was empty so I pulled the bike in and used it to jam the door. I looted the building for a few more guns and the unique weapon Chopper then made dinner and went to bed.

I got up the next day and after a quick breakfast I started my drive to Novac. The roads in New Vegas where much longer than in game so I reached the legion ambush billboard after an hour long drive. I pulled to a stop in front of the billboard but found no one around. This made me realize I didn't know what time I was in. I needed to know when the courier would get shot and begin their travels around the Mojave.

I kept traveling and stopped near the billboard that would have three fiends to ambush the road. I climbed up and again found nobody. I used my binoculars to check the nearby fiend camp but the building had nothing around it. Continuing my driving I finally reached Ranger Station Charlie. There wasn't much at the station so I continued past and eventually came upon the crashed lone wanderer bike with its dead driver.

It wasn't long after that I reached Novac outskirts and could see Dinky the Dino. I pulled into town to a good bit of attention but most went back to their business, the only one who didn't was Daisy Whitman. I hadn't done Arcade Gannons quest line or the enclave stuff many times but I knew that she was the vertibird pilot and an engineer. I parked my bike beside Dinkys tail and removed the custom key I made for it.

I left her to inspect the bike as I went inside dinky and spoke to cliff about weapons and supplies. The prices of the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha and Paciencia were still massive but were much more reasonable than in game as both cost 8000 caps. The rifle was powerful but I still preferred an anti-material rifle. The MF Hyperbreeder Alpha was tempting but I only liked it for the crowd control it gave with the Meltdown perk.

One of the things I missed about the games was that I couldn't get perks or do anything about levels. I had no cheats or a system to help me survive this world, all I had was the knowledge I got in my past life. I had only been able to build the bike because my dad taught me how to do things like that from a young age and I continued learning after the military.

I planned to grab That Gun before I left town as I had something to do here at night. After leaving Dinky I sat and relaxed on my bike, talking to Daisy and discussing our knowledge of engineering and my work on the bike. A few hours later Daisy left and I began my plans.
