Chapter 39 - Three Months

"Zhu Xian Sword, Second Soul Skill – Phantom Blade!"

"Moonblade, First Soul Skill – Moonwheel Throwing Knives!"

"Flame Lord, Second Soul Skill – Granite Flame!"

In an instant, the man-eating giant bee was severely wounded, practically immobilized.

"Step Across the Horizon!"

"Tiger Fist, Second Form – Explosion!!!"

Jiang Xiaofeng appeared behind the giant bee and slammed a punch into its wing. With a crunch, one of its wings snapped, making the giant bee scream in agony.

It let out a sharp, piercing cry that made everyone present clutch their heads in pain.

Everyone except Jiang Xiaofeng, that is.

Thanks to his Body Protection Realm, he was completely unfazed by this kind of sonic attack.

"Tianhai Art, Second Form – Earth-Shaker!"

It was Jiang Xiaofeng's first time using this move. He had been practicing it for a while with poor results—but today, it just clicked. So he unleashed it on the spot.

And what a sword strike it was—one swing, a hundred blades. It demanded brutal speed and power from the user. Jiang Xiaofeng pulled it off.

The strike slashed off half the giant bee's legs and wings. Even the stinger, which had withstood previous attacks, snapped off in the process.

Even Jiang Xiaofeng was surprised. He hadn't expected this move to be so terrifyingly strong.

The bee tried to flee, fluttering its one remaining wing.

"Second Soul Skill – Enchantment!"

The 3,800-year-old man-eating giant bee instantly fell into an illusion.

Evil Moon and Yan followed up with their attacks, cleanly decapitating the soul beast.

Jiang Xiaofeng let out a long breath—it had gone much smoother than their fight with Qingsong.

Hu Liena let out a triumphant shout, a smile spreading across her face as her soul power surged past level 23.

Mobot walked over beaming with joy.

"Excellent! Fantastic coordination this time. The Holy Maiden even broke through a level. Big harvest today—let's head back!"

Jiang Xiaofeng walked up to Hu Liena, patted her on the head, and said, "Not bad at all."

Hu Liena, still riding the high from her breakthrough, stuck out her tongue playfully."Brother Feng, you're not mad I used the wrong soul skill just now?"

Jiang Xiaofeng smiled. "I was going to say something. But after seeing your fighting state, I figured—no need. Keep it up. You've got this."

"Mhm! I've found my rhythm. I won't mess up again!"

This fight had benefited Evil Moon and Yan as well—their teamwork had improved significantly.

Time passed. They killed one or two soul beasts nearly every day. Occasionally, they even took down beasts over 4,500 years old. But they still hadn't taken on anything over 5,000 years.

That was Mobot's decision. They were training with weaker soul beasts first to build synergy. Only after that would they attempt to face the tougher, 5,000-year-class monsters.

Three months flew by. Jiang Xiaofeng's soul power had already reached level 28. Thanks to constant combat, his growth was monstrous—he might reach Soul Exalt by age 11.

Mobot clearly had his own unique view of Jiang Xiaofeng.

After observing him for three months, Mobot was convinced: Jiang Xiaofeng's combat instincts were top-tier. Often, he would respond to danger even before Mobot noticed it.

"The Holy Son is terrifying. The Pope really has an eye for talent—finding someone like this. He fights like a battle-hardened veteran. If it weren't for his age and relatively low soul power, I'd think he was a Titled Douluo in disguise. Seriously—who else could have reflexes and awareness like that?"

His arsenal was even crazier. In just three months, he had mastered soul skills, sword arts, fist techniques, movement arts—you name it, he had it. Most insane of all? He recovered faster than Mobot could even apply medicine. No one else could keep up. Training alongside this kind of monster was basically self-inflicted torture.

Spirit Hall, Spirit City.

Bibi Dong leaned lazily on her throne, chin resting on one hand, eyes distant.

"It's been three months already... I wonder how Xiaofeng and the others are doing?"

"Your Holiness," a subordinate offered, "If you're worried, you could send someone to deliver a message."

Bibi Dong shook her head."I can't disturb those kids. I just... miss them a bit. Especially that little rascal Xiaofeng. He's got such astonishing talent—I wonder how far his soul power has progressed by now."

Ghost Douluo stood silently to the side.

In Death Canyon...

Mobot handed a skewer of roasted meat to Jiang Xiaofeng."Your Highness, when do you plan to take on a 5,000-year soul beast?"

Jiang Xiaofeng replied calmly, "Sometime soon."

Hu Liena chimed in, "Brother Feng, no way! You got injured fighting that 4,500-year one—how can you think about going after a 5,000-year beast? Wait till you reach Soul Exalt, at least!"

Jiang Xiaofeng shook his head."No can do. This is special training—we can't keep fighting beasts we know we can beat. At first, we couldn't even handle 3,000-year beasts. Now they're easy. We've even killed several 4,000-year ones. The next step is obvious."

Evil Moon and Yan exchanged uneasy glances. They had both leveled up once or twice, but they still couldn't match Jiang Xiaofeng.

Mobot, however, nodded in agreement."Exactly. Fighting only 3,000-year beasts won't help you grow. A 5,000-year soul beast should be your next goal. But be careful—they're all at least Soul Exalt level. None of you have reached that yet. Proceed with caution."

"Understood."

After three months, their coordination had grown impressively tight. Jiang Xiaofeng had also begun mastering more and more techniques.

For instance, he had completely mastered the second form of the Tianhai Art, and had begun training the third form, using actual soul beasts as his sparring targets.

That third form? "Turn Rivers, Upset Seas."

Just from the name, you knew it was a kill move.

But with that kind of destructive potential came difficulty. Even though Jiang Xiaofeng had learned it before, training it now was still tough as hell.

From the third form onward, each step in the Tianhai Art would become exponentially harder—but also far more devastating. By the ninth form, one swing could supposedly cleave mountains and rivers.

His movement technique, however, was still stuck at the Micro level. Reaching Perfection would require mountains of battle experience—something only time could provide.

His Tiger Fist's third form was almost complete too, though the results were still underwhelming. Like Tianhai Art, it got increasingly difficult. Tiger Fist was his other trump card—fully mastered, it could allegedly shatter mountains with a single punch.

At night, while the others were cultivating, Jiang Xiaofeng sat cross-legged, circulating his Indestructible Body Technique. Ever since Bibi Dong helped him reach its second stage, there hadn't been any progress.

The third stage, called Body Refinement, was all about forging the body—i.e., taking a beating.

Simple in theory... but hard in practice. These soul beasts weren't sparring partners—they aimed to kill. Jiang Xiaofeng couldn't just lie down and take hits peacefully. He had to find a way to get beaten up safely.
