Alex rolled his eyes and muttered, "Are you two still hungry?"
Selene shook her head.
Hati, without hesitation, nodded.
Alex sighed. "Let's deal with the dragon first then we'll eat."
At the mention of battle, Hati perked up and trotted toward him, tail swishing with focus.
Selene stood up reluctantly, brushing her hands on her coat.
Alex pulled the emerald spear from his spatial ring. The weapon shimmered faintly with power in the dying light.
He glanced at his companions.
"Let's go."

They vanished from the cave.
High among the snow-covered peaks, in the valley between the mountains, Thalgar lay in deep slumber. His breath rumbled like distant thunder, massive white-scaled sides rising and falling in rhythm with the icy wind.
Pop!
The sound echoed again.
Thalgar's massive blue eyes snapped open, narrowed in growing irritation. Without lifting his head, he opened his colossal jaw ready to fire the devastating blue beam.
