Benjamin saw the stubborn, unrepentant look on her face and grew even more furious. He pulled the car to the side and turned to lecture her again.
"Lily, the more powerful the family, the more they care about matching in marriage."
"For someone like us to marry into a wealthy family, we need real talent."
"Look at that world champion swimmer—she married into a powerful family because of her ability. Look at those starlets who married rich. Do you think they did it without real value?"
"In the end, it's about capability."
"You've been spoiled since you were young, and we've given you the best we could, but our family is far from those circles."
"And you—do you really think you're exceptional enough to stand out on your own?"
Lily's anger grew with every word.
He continued, "Let's be realistic. Find a decent man, settle down. That way you won't suffer, and your parents won't worry. Isn't that a good path?"
But none of this aligned with what Lily was thinking.
