Chapter 218- After all, in a sense, I'm going all out now
Although the process has changed somewhat, Kiba still obtained the holy sword factor extracted from his former comrades, as depicted in the anime.
If all goes well, he should be able to reach the Balance Breaker of Sword Birth.
Even if he cannot achieve it immediately, with all the necessary components in place, it is only a matter of time before he reaches that power.
Glancing at Kiba's situation, Roy quickly shifted his focus back to Kokabiel in the sky.
As Kokabiel concentrated his power of light, the spear in his hand grew larger.
To put it bluntly, if Kokabiel redirected this light toward Kuoh Town, it could reduce the town to ruins in an instant.
But now, his sole focus was on Roy, who kept exposing the truth and making a fool of him.
Kokabiel knew that if he didn't eliminate Roy, he would remain a tool for the three factions.
As long as he could kill Roy, high class devils and the church's holy sword wielders, would pose no threat.
He could easily deal with them and proceed with his plan.
"Die!" Kokabiel roared, preparing to hurl the fully charged spear at Roy.
The spear's light was blinding, like a thick beam of daylight, illuminating the night sky around Kuoh Town.
Roy looked up at the packed spear but did not immediately used the Boosted Gear.
Envy
One of the abilities within the Seven Deadly Sins, it temporarily seals an opponent's skill or magic.
The power of light fell within the scope of Envy.
Roy activated the skill on Kokabiel.
"…!" The powerful aura emanating from Kokabiel suddenly faltered.
His ferocious face flushed as if blood were surging, and a choked sound escaped his throat.
As this anomaly occurred, the massive spear of light in Kokabiel's hands shattered with crisp sounds, like a breaking glass.
Shock spread across Kokabiel's face.
He couldn't understand why the power of light in his body had suddenly vanished.
More accurately, it hadn't vanished but was cut off.
A chill ran through Kokabiel's heart. Without hesitation, he flapped his wings, intending to flee.
But he was a step too slow.
A sword's light pierced the night sky, striking him cleanly.
Despite Kokabiel's desperate attempt to dodge, he couldn't escape the sword's attack.
With a tearing sound, it slashed from Kokabiel's shoulder across his body, leaving a long wound.
Bright red blood sprayed from Kokabiel's body, scattering into the night sky.
He groaned in pain and quickly retreated.
His once elegant posture now looked utterly disheveled.
The wound stretched from his shoulder to his waist, blood soaking his black robes.
"As expected of a fallen angel recorded in the Bible, with top notch reflexes," Roy said, standing lightly in the night sky on the semicircular barrier set up by Rias and the others.
He looked at Kokabiel with a faint smile.
He used tempest.
Under tempest, Roy's overall strength had been enhanced.
The sword strike was meant to cleave Kokabiel in half.
Yet, at the critical moment, Kokabiel had dodged.
As a battle hardened fallen angel, Kokabiel's greatest strength was indeed his power of light, but it wasn't his only asset.
Even with his light power temporarily sealed, his millennia of combat experience remained.
Killing him instantly wouldn't be so easy.
"You brat, you did this!" Kokabiel glared at Roy, certain that the sudden loss of control over his power of light was Roy's doing.
But Roy's seemingly complimentary words were nothing but humiliation to Kokabiel.
A cadre class fallen angel, wounded by a teenage boy in their first encounter.
If word got out, his peers would mock him to death.
"Stop asking such stupid questions," Roy sighed, looking at Kokabiel with pity.
"With your intellect, no wonder they're toying with you.
"If I were them, I'd pick someone like you for their schemes. It's practically recycling waste."
Roy's words remained cutting.
"Stop looking down on me, you bastard!" Kokabiel roared, struggling to reconnect with his light power.
With a full force effort, he regained control over the light energy in his body.
"Can it only be sealed for such a short time?" Roy muttered, slightly disappointed with Envy's sealing duration.
The seal was too brief.
It was likely because Kokabiel's strength surpassed his own, shortening the sealing time.
After all, Kokabiel's power was nearly on par with a Satan.
According to the system's evaluation, Kokabiel was likely above the level 150.
"It seems that to instantly kill a stronger opponent, I need to prepare my strongest strike," Roy thought.
Envy was a potent skill in battle.
A first strike seal.
That was the optimal use of Envy.
When the opponent lacks knowledge of his abilities, he could prepare his strongest attack and eliminate them instantly.
Even if he couldn't kill them outright, he could still inflict severe damage.
Kokabiel, ignoring the blood flowing from his wound, glared fiercely at Roy and began condensing another spear of light.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how many experience points you'll give me," Roy said, silently activating berserker.
His base strength surged again, his aura swelling to rival Kokabiel's.
Roy swung his sword lightly, looking at the shocked Kokabiel and said, "After all, in a sense, I'm going all out now."
