"Is everything okay between them?"
Yaya asked while staring deeply into YuanYuan's face. Trying to find an answer in that face. He still didn't believe his senior's words. JiaJia was still silent and XinXin still looked dissatisfied.
"Don't worry they'll be fine. They're not kids anymore."
YuanYuan said. Having a friend who is curious about everything and thinks deeply about things they shouldn't, always give you a headache.
XiangXiang opened his locker. His eyes were wide open and his heart was beating fast like it was going to jump out of his mouth at any moment. Bam! XiangXiang quickly closed his locker tightly. Worried that what was inside would attract the attention of others, especially WenWen. There would be trouble if they found out.
"What wrong?"
WenWen asked worriedly after seeing how pale XiangXiang's face was at that moment. The others also came and looked at him. Everyone looked worried after hearing the loud sound of XiangXiang closing his locker door.
"Nothing. I feel like I left my dictionary at home."
XiangXiang gave an excuse as he tried hard to guard his locker door from the others. As if it contained the secrets of the kingdom of heaven. His face was pale and his breathing was like he had just finished his punishment of running around the field in the summer.
"It's just a dictionary. We can share it. Why are you acting like that? You almost gave us a heart attack, you know?"
YuanYuan said and grabbed XiangXiang's shoulders. LinLin and Yaya rubbing their chests. Trying to calm their hearts that were almost falling off because of XiangXiang's behavior earlier. However, WenWen's reaction was the opposite. He could feel that there was something XiangXiang was trying to hide in his locker.
"You know what our English teacher is like, right? He'll definitely punish me."
XiangXiang said, pretending to be sulk. But his body was already covered in cold sweat.
This wasn't the first time he had received an undefined gift from a stranger. A cursed gift that gave him nightmares.
"Come on. We'll forget our dictionary too. So we can be punished together."
Yaya said with a cheerful smile. He put his dictionary back in the locker. The others also did the same.
"WenWen?"
LinLin asked after he saw WenWen not moving to put his dictionary back in the locker.
"I share my dictionary with XiangXiang?"
WenWen said while pointing at himself and XiangXiang. The others looked at them both in disbelief. While giving WenWen a sharp glare they opened their lockers and took back their dictionaries. "Traitor." They whispered in their hearts.
"Don't worry, if the teacher doesn't allow it, I will accept the punishment along with you."
WenWen whispered in XiangXiang's ear. Being punished with the others would be chaotic, especially with Yaya. Sometimes Yaya would intentionally make mistakes so that he would be punished by the teacher because that was his only reason to play around.
WenWen stared at XiangXiang's locker and slowly looked at his pale, bloodless face. The fear on that face was not the fear of being punished. But more than that.
"Okay."
XiangXiang said while staring at his locker. His small lips carved a bitter smile. He didn't know what was in the box this time. Before this he received a bloody headless doll with the words 'go die bitch' stabbed into its chest. XiangXiang swallowed his saliva which felt like a fist-sized ice cube stuck in his throat. The pain felt all the way to his heart.
On the way to class, XiangXiang just kept quiet. His mind was still on the red box in his locker and his heart was not satisfied until he saw the contents of the box. Although his fear took over his entire soul, he had to face his own problems.
"Ahhh...!"
XiangXiang suddenly screamed. Everyone turned and stared straight at XiangXiang's face. That day, XiangXiang's behavior was really strange in their eyes. WenWen tightly gripped the strap of his bag. Trying to control the pain in his heart when he saw XiangXiang so scared like that.
"I forgot my pencil case in the locker."
XiangXiang said then ran back to his locker.
"You go first! I'll be back!"
XiangXiang shouted as he ran as fast as he could without waiting for his friends to react. Everyone was shocked by XiangXiang's actions. They looked at each other. "Let's follow him. He's hiding something from us." Everyone nodded in agreement and ran after XiangXiang. Their hearts were beating fast. It felt like something bad was going to happen.
In front of his locker, XiangXiang stood like a log for a moment. Hesitant to open the door. He took a few deep breaths before slowly opening his locker.
His heart almost stopped beating as soon as his eyes caught sight of the red box in the middle of his locker. Cold sweat poured down his face as if he were looking at a time bomb there.
XiangXiang took a deep breath. His world became buzzing and fuzzy. His heart was beating fast and felt like it would burst at any moment. Even breathing was difficult now. With his trembling and sweating hand, XiangXiang picked up the red box.
The red box felt damp and smelled bad. XiangXiang started to feel nauseous and his world started to spin like a roller coaster. He almost fell to the ground when WenWen and the others came and held his body and the red box before he collapsed to the cold floor.
"XiangXiang!"
XiangXiang could hear WenWen's faint voice, but he felt his body too heavy to respond.
"I know something is wrong. YuanYuan take the box to Mr. Ruirui. I will take XiangXiang to the infirmary."
WenWen said. He quickly carried XiangXiang's body and ran to the infirmary. Yaya took XiangXiang and WenWen's bags and ran after WenWen. LinLin ran with YuanYuan with the red box to Mr. Ruirui's office.
"Mr Ruirui.!"
YuanYuan screamed as loud as he could and rushed into the room where Mr. Ruirui was talking closely with Mr. Neo. His behavior was really like being chased by a ghost and made Mr. Ruirui and Mr. Neo panic. YuanYuan put the red box on Mr. Ruirui's table. He and LinLin were breathing heavily like an angry buffalo.
"Mr Ruirui....Mr Neo...this is an emergency. Hurry up and follow us.."
YuanYuan's voice was panting as he tried to drag Mr. Ruirui along with him.
"Take a deep breath, both of you. Tell me slowly."
Mr. Ruirui said softly. Trying to calm the two of them who were almost out of breath. YuanYuan and LinLin shook their heads. This was really an emergency. It felt like if they were even a second late, XiangXiang's life would be in danger.
"Can't wait..."
LinLin said as he tried to drag Mr. Neo along with them.
"Let's see what happens."
Mr. Neo said to Mr Ruirui. It felt like if the boys' wishes were ignored, they would never escape from their grip. He brought the damp red box with him. "Urghhhh...what is this?" Mr. Neo gasped in disgust as he followed every step of Mr. Ruirui who was being dragged by YuanYuan and LinLin to infirmary. And now Mr. Neo's heart began to be filled with worry. "This is indeed emergency."
