Chapter 15 - the wish of that night chapter 15

Hey, Alexander! I'm so glad you remembered you have another wife apart from her, Isabella smiled, a flirtatious sparkle dancing in her eyes as she spun her charm, standing close to ALEXANDER. How about we get out of here for a bit? A nice dinner could be just what you need.

ALEXANDER hesitated, his thoughts drifting to SOPHIE and the commitment he made to be there for her. But we can't stay long. I need to take care of Sophie; she's not well, he replied.

ISABELLA pouted slightly, her voice dropping to a sultry tone. But aren't you tired of all the sadness? Ever since Sophie lost her pregnancy, you've been there taking care of her. I thought we could have some fun, distract ourselves from everything that's happened.

She moved closer, brushing her fingers against his arm. ALEXANDER pulled away slightly, still anchored by his feelings for SOPHIE. I appreciate that, but I really need to take care of Sophie, so we can't stay long, he said firmly.

Unyielding, ISABELLA pretended to look hurt, but her mind was already working on her next move. ALEXANDER looked conflicted, glancing back toward the direction of SOPHIE's room. Of course! But just a quick bite, okay?

Finally, he nodded, still feeling the weight of guilt but wanting to take a break from the tension that hung in the air. Before they left, ALEXANDER quietly checked on SOPHIE, his heart swelling with affection as he saw her sleeping peacefully. He gently pulled the blankets up, whispering, I'll be back soon.

He stepped back, looking down at her with a heavy heart before leaving the house with Isabella.

As they arrived at the restaurant, the atmosphere was bright and vibrant. The elegant decor and ambient music seemed to whisper promises of a good time. ISABELLA, determined, led ALEXANDER to a cozy table by the window, her smile widening as she placed their drinks order.

ALEXANDER, still feeling a bit uneasy, went along with it, hoping just this once he could let loose. As the night progressed, ISABELLA made sure ALEXANDER's glass was never empty, pouring alcohol with confidence.

Hours later, ALEXANDER stumbled through the hotel room door, his unsteady legs betraying the effects of the alcohol. Laughter and music filled the air, and ISABELLA watched him with a gleam in her eyes as she led him to the bed.

Feeling light-headed, ALEXANDER collapsed onto the bed, the world spinning around him. He tried to fight the intoxication but lost the battle against sleep.

ISABELLA, seizing the moment, grinned devilishly. She leaned over him, slowly unbuttoning his shirt, revealing his chest. Then, she turned the camera on her phone toward them, snapping pictures.

Daringly, she lay down next to him, her body brushing against his as she wrapped an arm over his torso, posing playfully for the camera.

Back at home, SOPHIE lay in bed, feeling lonely and detached from her husband. Every passing moment without him intensified her heartache. Suddenly, her phone buzzed..

She saw a message from an unknown number with a picture attached. Curiosity turned into dread as she opened it, revealing a photo of ALEXANDER asleep next to ISABELLA, who sported a triumphant grin, their bodies close together.

SOPHIE's heart broke, the betrayal striking her like a blow. This was when she needed her husband the most, but instead, he was with his fake wife.

ALEXANDER stirred awake, confusion clouding his mind. He squinted at the sunlight streaming in, feeling a strange weight beside him. As he turned, his eyes widened in horror when he saw ISABELLA next to him, her hair spread across the pillow with a blissful expression.

Panic flooded through him. "No, no, no," he whispered, as memories of the past night rushed back. Realizing the consequences of what had happened, his heart raced.

He hurriedly put on his clothes, feeling overwhelmed with shame and guilt. How would he face SOPHIE after this?

SOPHIE sat up in bed, her heart racing as she processed the betrayal. Anger and sadness intertwined within her, and she felt a surge of determination. She reached for her phone, her fingers trembling as she dialed the lawyer's number. The sound of the ringing echoed in the silence of her room, each tone amplifying her resolve.

When the lawyer answered, she took a deep breath, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside. I need you to prepare a divorce papers, she said, her words firm and unwavering. I can't do this anymore.

Meanwhile, ALEXANDER rushed out of the hotel room, his mind racing with thoughts of SOPHIE. He had to explain, to make her understand that it was a mistake, a moment of weakness. But as he drove home, he felt the weight of his actions pressing down on him like a heavy fog.

Back at the house, SOPHIE paced the living room, her heart pounding as she awaited ALEXANDER's return. She could hear the front door creak open, and her breath hitched in her throat. ALEXANDER stepped inside, his face pale and filled with regret.

Sophie, he began, but she cut him off, her voice sharp and filled with hurt. Don't. Just don't. I saw the picture, Alexander. You were with her. How could you?

His heart sank as he realized the depth of her pain. I made a mistake. I was drunk..

Drunk? Is that your excuse? SOPHIE's voice trembled with emotion. You were supposed to be there for me, and instead, you chose her. You chose to betray me when I needed you the most.

ALEXANDER stepped closer, desperation in his eyes. I love you, Sophie. I made a terrible mistake, but it doesn't change how I feel about you.

SOPHIE shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. Love isn't supposed to hurt like this. I can't keep pretending everything is okay when it's not. I want a divorce.

Just then, ISABELLA, who had been lurking outside, overheard the conversation. A wicked smile crept across her face as she reveled in the drama unfolding before her.

A sudden knock echoed through the room like a thunderclap. The front door creaked open again, and the lawyer stepped in, holding a sleek folder.

I brought the documents as requested, he said solemnly, handing them to SOPHIE. They're ready to be signed.

SOPHIE didn't hesitate. Her hands trembled, but her eyes burned with resolve. She took the pen and scribbled her name at the bottom, each stroke a declaration of her pain and her power.

ISABELLA's heart leapt with silent joy. Her hands were clenched behind her back, her lips pressed together to hide the smirk threatening to escape. This was it. She had won.

The lawyer turned to ALEXANDER. Your turn.

But Alexander didn't move. He stared down at the paper, then at SOPHIE. her tear streaked face, her shaking shoulders, the way she refused to crumble in front of him. And then he saw something else beneath the heartbreak: love. Buried deep, but still burning.

I'm not signing it, he said quietly.

Silence fell like a weight over the room.

SOPHIE blinked. What?

I'm not signing those papers. Alexander's voice grew stronger. Because I still believe in us. I still believe in you. And I know.. deep down, you still believe in me.

ISABELLA's eyes widened. Are you serious? she barked. She's throwing you away, and you're still chasing her?

Alexander didn't even look at her.

No, he said, stepping closer I will not do it, because you're the only woman who have made me a better man. I destroyed your trust, Sophie. I know that. But I won't give up on you just because I failed. If I sign those papers, I lose you forever. And I can't live with that.

For a moment, SOPHIE said nothing. The papers in her hands felt heavier now. Her heart screamed at her to run, to protect what was left. But another part quiet and trembling longed to believe him.

ISABELLA let out a cold laugh, bitterness rising like bile. You're pathetic, Alexander. just sign the papers.

Alexander finally turned to her, eyes dark with resolve. shut up, don't you dare say a word.

He looked at Sophie again. You don't have to forgive me now. Or ever. But I'm not giving up..

SOPHIE's hands trembled as she clutched the divorce papers, her chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. Alexander's refusal to sign only made the ache sharper, like a wound being reopened again and again. She walked toward him slowly, her eyes brimming with tears not of weakness, but of exhaustion.

I'm done, she said, her voice hollow, almost lifeless. She pushed the papers into his hands. I can't do this anymore. This marriage it's not love. It's punishment.

Alexander took a step toward her, his eyes pleading, but she held up a hand, stopping him cold.

You don't get to speak right now, she whispered, barely holding herself together. Do you even remember what you did after our engagement?"

He flinched.

That's right, she said bitterly. you slept with her, just few days after our engagement, you slept with her.

Alexander opened his mouth, but no words came out.

And now, her voice cracked as a sob built in her throat, after I lost our baby... my pregnancy, Alexander, you were supposed to be there. To hold me. To tell me it would be okay.

Her body began to shake as she choked back a cry. broken, and grieving alone. And where were you? In a hotel bed with Isabella. once Again.

Alexander's face crumbled with shame, but Sophie no longer cared for his tears. Her pain was greater, deeper, louder than any apology he could offer.
