Chapter 21 - TICONIC 2

They quickly exited the room, their footsteps echoing in the quiet corridor. Kael led the way, his instincts sharp despite his hazy memory. Without hesitation, he swung his arm toward a guard who suddenly appeared at the end of the hall.

With quick movement, Kael struck the guard hard, incapacitating him in an instant. Another one appeared from the other side, but Kael greeted him first with a swift kick to the chest, sending the man crashing to the floor.

Teresa and Parker followed closely behind, giving Kael space to move.

"He's good," Parker whispered to Teresa, impressed by Kael's agility.

Teresa nodded, though her eyes remained alert. They didn't have much time.

"Let's hurry," Teresa said, pulling Kael to keep pace.

Kael nodded, still surprised by his abilities that seemed to return naturally. "I don't know how I did that," he muttered.

But he quickly refocused when he heard footsteps drawing closer.

"Don't talk too much. We need to get out of here."

They continued down the dark corridor of the base. Every step counted, as each corner could be a trap. However, with Kael in the lead, they managed to bypass several guards and reached a safer area.

"This way," Kael called, pointing to an exit door at the end of the corridor. They were getting closer.

But then, a loud noise suddenly came from behind them.

"Who's there?!"

Without a word, Kael spun around and quickly threw a knife at the approaching guard. The knife flew and struck the man in the shoulder, sending him falling to the ground, unable to move.

"They must know we're here," Teresa said, worried.

Kael looked at her with determination. "No choice. We have to leave, now."

They continued moving toward the exit door, avoiding more guards that appeared along the way. With each step, Kael felt more certain that he wasn't just an ordinary person to be forgotten. There was something big inside him that needed to be uncovered.

Finally, they reached a wide-open space, the dark night sky stretching above them. But their journey was far from over.

In the control room of the base, the Military Security General stared at the monitor with a serious expression. He watched Kael's swift and precise movements, taking down guard after guard in the hallways. "Damn," he muttered, looking at the footage with growing concern.

"It seems we have a problem," said a Professor standing beside him, eyeing the screen with focused attention. "His agility and combat skills... it's not just from training or instinct. It's the effect of the techno device he's wearing. That's a system designed for physical enhancement."

The General frowned, his anxiety rising. "But... why would Elian give it to him? It shouldn't have happened. That tech should only be used by those we choose."

The Professor nodded, his expression troubled. "I know, General. But the reality is, Kael is the right fit for that tech. It seems this technology is actually connected to his blood—his inherent power. Something I didn't foresee."

The General paused for a moment, his hand clenched into a fist as he tapped the table. "This could be a big problem. If he realizes his full potential, we won't be able to stop him. And worse, if he discovers that tech can enhance other abilities... we'll lose this war."

The Professor looked at the General with a serious expression. "General, I think we need to take further action quickly. This technology could be used for our advantage, but if Kael continues to master it... he could become a massive threat."

The General stood up and stared at the CCTV screen showing Kael and his group escaping the base. "We don't have much time. Prepare the troops to track them down. They can't get away."

Meanwhile, outside the base, Kael and his group were already on their way to safety. Though they had managed to escape, Kael couldn't shake the strange feeling that kept bothering him. There was something about the technology he wore—something bigger than he had realized.

Teresa walked beside him, whispering, "Are you okay?"

Kael nodded, though his face was serious. "There's something wrong... I feel like there's a force controlling me."

Parker, walking behind them, spoke up. "You need to know, Kael, we're all here for you. No matter what happens."

Kael simply nodded, his emotions conflicted. He felt like there was a part of himself he hadn't fully understood—and he knew it was tied to the tech his father had given him. One thing was certain: their journey was just beginning, and the threat from the base would only grow closer.

In front of them, a military figure appeared with calm steps, wearing body armor and a helmet that covered part of their face. There was something familiar about their posture and movements. Kael, Parker, and Teresa stopped, ready to fight if necessary, but the soldier raised a hand, signaling that they meant no harm.

"Rama," Parker said in surprise, recognizing the figure behind the helmet. "You're infiltrating too?"

Rama nodded. "Yeah, part of the plan. I'm here to get you out through a back route. Stay close and follow me."

Without saying much, Rama led them through a narrow hallway that wasn't visible on the security screens, passing through several storage rooms and locked doors, until they finally reached the back gate of the base, which led to the forest. Kael, though confused and anxious, followed without asking too many questions. Every passing second made him feel more detached from himself—his memory was still a blur.

Outside the gate, Terren and Arek were waiting at the ship, hidden behind some rocks, ready to depart. When they saw Kael and the others emerge, Terren immediately waved, while Arek started up the engine.

Kael, still looking confused and overwhelmed, looked at them with a deep sense of uncertainty. "I... I don't remember you," he said softly, his gaze focused on Terren and Arek, who welcomed them with hopeful faces. "Have we met before?"

Parker stepped closer and gently patted Kael on the shoulder. "Don't worry, Kael. You just need time to remember. We've been through a lot together. We're here for you."

Arek also walked up to Kael, his eyes filled with understanding. "You may have lost your memory, Kael, but I know one thing—we're friends, and we'll always be here for you."

Kael stared at them, his confusion growing. Every word they said felt unfamiliar, yet there was a deep, unspoken feeling inside him that made him feel comfortable among them. But the memories were still locked away somewhere, as if hidden from him.

Rama, who was already on the ship with them, looked at Kael with a serious expression. "Don't worry, Kael. I also lost some of my memory after I started fighting with you all. Sometimes, memories need time to come back. But what matters is that we're still together. We'll survive."

They all boarded the ship, and the engines roared to life, carrying them away from the base now filled with troops still searching for them. As the ship moved forward, the sound of the heavy engine filled the silence of the night. Kael sat at the back of the ship, absorbing the words he had just heard. Though his confusion hadn't been resolved, one thing was certain—he wasn't alone in this fight.
