Chapter 6: The first floor...
Karan ran through the lobby. He again tried to contact Mr. Malhotra but his phone was said to be busy.
"Damn it!"
He came across the lift. He pressed the button of the lift in a hurry.
Soon the lift came.
Ding…
He stepped inside the lift. The door of the lift closed behind him.
Shut…
Karan pressed the number one button for the first floor. He glanced at his wrist watch. The time was 9:30 p.m.
"Shit! I am running out of time."
The weight of tension within the air started to increase minute by minute, like the calm before the storm. Karan felt the weight of tension which he couldn't resist.
After a while, Karan reached his distinction and the lift announced–
[First… floor…]
Before the doors open Karan swallows hard. He hesitated for a second but he calmed himself. He took a deep breath and let it go.
The doors opened. Karan stepped out of the lift. He paused briefly. The doors of the lift closed behind him. He glanced at the door from the corner of his eye.
Shut…
"Something… something feels off… I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling about this situation I am in…"
Karan sighed
Sigh…
"… but right now,
He stepped forward.
"…my first priority is to find Mr. Malhotra."
Karan mumbled to himself, while walking in the corridor.
"Vivek said that it was room number 007 and that must be there..."
Karan glanced at the corridor. He stepped forward.
After taking a few steps, his feet froze at the spot. He mumbled.
"Wait…"
He took a brief pause.
"… how did Vivek know… that Mr. Malhotra went to room number 007 on this floor?"
His eyes widened in shock.
"Wait! Now don't tell that he's involved in this!"
Karan chinched his jaw. He started to run in the corridor as fast as he could.
"Shit! I need to hurry fast!"
As he was running in the corridor, he heard Rishi's voice coming from behind.
"Hey! Mr. Host!" Rishi shouted.
Karan stopped and looked behind.
"Rishi? What are you doing here?" Karan asked.
"Nothing… just following you." Rishi replied in a teasing tone.
"Following me? But why? You should go to your parents, right now!"
"Oh! Come on Mr. Host! Stop lecturing me! I was following you because I wanted to see… what kind of business you wanted to take care of…" Rishi said with a smirked.
Karan sighed.
Sigh…
"First of all, I am not lecturing you Rishi. I am just telling you to go to your parents and the second thing is that you should not worry about the business I am taking care of…"
"Seriously, Mr. Host? Are you sure you are not lecturing me?"
"Yes!"
"Umm… Mr. Host?"
"Hmm? What is it?"
"I think the business you were talking about is more important than standing here lecturing me, don't you think so?"
"Shit! I totally forgot about Mr. Malhotra!"
Karan started to run towards the corridor where room number 007 was located without a note, leaving Rishi behind.
"Hey! Mr. Host! Wait for me!"
"Don't follow me Rishi! Go back to your parents!"
"I am really stupid! How can I totally get swayed away by the mini chit chat with Rishi? I am really shameless! Now I really, really want to cry!" Karan panicked and thought to himself.
As they were getting close to room number 007, suddenly…
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!"
… Both of them heard a lady screaming.
"Rishi and Karan enjoy the time as much as you want... because some dangers awaits you, in the next chapter… The thriller chase has begun…"
