Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 : The Hall of Shadows

As everyone busy fighting zombies, Yuri sneak around. They didn't notice her much.

She search through the second floor, the building trembled faintly from the chaos outside — gunshots, yelling, the growling of zombies. But here… it was disturbingly quiet. there is a lot of rooms. Because of that she had to search each and every room.

She opened the first door cautiously. Empty.

The next… her breath caught.

Zombies.

But not the usual kind.

They were caged — one cage has some without limbs, some completely restrained, perfectly healthy.

" Who might it be? Were they experimenting on them..."

Some were starved — bones sticking out under their gray skin, their jaws snapping weakly at the bars. Others were being preserved, or studied for behavior. It was sickening. She shut the doors quietly and moved on.

More rooms. Most were empty. Until finally, she reached one without a lock — just a heavy bolt on the outside.

She slid it open and stepped inside.

"Yuri!" someone gasped.

It was Minjae — his voice raw, eyes wide with disbelief.

The room was pitch black, no light, the stench thick and sour.Inside were the others — the doctor, and others that the chief saved. They were all tied up. She free Minjae first.

He helped Yuri pull the others up.

"Songwoo," she said urgently. "Where is he?"

Minjae looked toward the far corner of the hallway.

"They separated him. Said he was 'too dangerous' to be kept with the rest. Don't know where.."

Yuri nodded.

"Then we're not leaving without him."

Some people argued with them. " What you mean not leaving without him? This is our only chance.."

Yuri gave him a death glare.....

"Without him you all would be dead meat. So shut up and do as we say if you want to live. Or you can be zombie food."

No one dares to say a word.

It gives Minjae chill. The Yuri he knows changed.

The group — weak but fueled by sudden hope — moved through the hall, checking each remaining room.

Other rooms found unlock except one. " This must be where they kept Songwoo.

"It's locked with a keycard," he muttered.

Yuri stepped forward, pressing her ear to the cold metal.

"Songwoo?" she whispered.

No answer.

But then…

A slow, weak knock in response.

Yuri looked to the others.

"We're getting him out."

"The key must be with Kan Seok."

"Then it leave us with only one way. Let's smash it."

Minjae clenched his fist. "We need to break it open."

They tried. Kicking, pulling, pushing. But the door was thick — military-grade.And every sound they made echoed through the hallway, too loud, too risky.

"Too much noise…" the doctor warned.

"Why only this door were military grade ?"

" Becouse this is were we kept the weapons."

"WEAPONES??"

"Yes, this building is were the weapons were produce. It looks like an apartment from outside, they made it look like that. We produce it here."

"And you....?"

I'm also one of them. Luka. I live here.. But Kan Seok took all the weapons."

A man who is quit young, with long black hair and have an tired look in his face. He is almost 40 Yrs.

Just then, Ryu, who was waiting at the end of the corridor, suddenly raised his head.He felt something.

Yuri's rising panic.

Before she could say a word, Ryu charged toward them, a blur of silver fur and glowing eyes. The others turned in alarm, stepping back instinctively.

BOOM!

With a single powerful slam of his shoulder, the door burst open, tearing off the hinges and crashing into the room.

The force shook the floor.Dust and debris swirled in the air.

Everyone stood frozen.

"…What the hell is that thing?" whispered. Everyone shocked.

Inside, sitting calmly with his knees to his chest, was Songwoo. He looked up as the light poured in, his expression dull… tired… but not broken.

"Songwoo!" Yuri ran in.

He blinked. "Yuri…?"

She threw her arms around him.

"You came back," he whispered, surprised.

The others followed in, helping him up.

Minjae stared at him. "You alright?"

"Yeah," Songwoo nodded. "They didn't lay a hand on me. Just locked me away."

He looked at Ryu, whose massive frame still stood in the broken doorway.

"…Is that a wolf?"

Yuri smiled faintly. "That's Ryu. He's… kind of my friend."

They didn't stop there.

Together, with Songwoo leading, they swept through the floors and unlocked every room that held prisoners.Emaciated survivors, some barely able to walk, cried as they were pulled into the light.

They didn't forget the chief either.

"Minjae, take the lead. Me and yuri with Ryu, we have to resque Chief."

He nodded...

"There is a room up in the floor a dark and stinky room, it's a punishment room for traitors. She must be there.." Luka give them a hind.

"She has to be here," Songwoo said.

Yuri and Ryu followed him to the top floor.

What they found shattered them.

The chief was barely breathing.Lying in a pool of dried blood, her bones broken, wounds open, and eyes swollen shut.

Yuri gasped and dropped to her knees.

Songwoo checked her pulse.

"She's alive," he said, barely holding back his rage. "But only just."

Yuri gritted her teeth, holding back tears. "How can someone do this…?"

Songwoo turned to her. "We'll fix this."

As they gently lifted the chief, Songwoo looked at Ryu.

"She saved us all, now time for us to return the favor." he said.

With chief on Ryu's back they starts to move. On the way Songwoo's curiosity rise.

"Mmmm.... about Ryu....."

"I found him on the in the ruined buildings when i was on run. We were together allthis time He… can feel me. My fear. My anger. Everything. He moves before I do."

Songwoo met Ryu's glowing eyes.

"Then maybe… we finally have a weapon of our own."

Yuri expressed dissatisfaction. "Don't treat him like a weapon. He is my friend.."

"Hahahaha..... just kidding. I'm just teasing you."

On the way back Songwoo look through the window. Zombies crawling outside. There fill with gun shots and full of smocks. Most of the people fighting were bitten, infected.
