When Ezzy went back to the party, the students formed a huge circle and we're playing the game of Never have I ever. There was a student who's job was to ask the questions. The person could say " Never have I ever gotten drunk " and anyone who has ever gotten drunk will take a shot of alcohol and the ones that haven't gotten drunk won't drink anything. Vaelor pointed at the space he had kept for her. Ezzy smiled at him and sat down.
As the game progressed, Vaelor had drank almost fifteen shots of alcohol and he was still alright. Ezzy who had drank just two shots was starting to feel woozy. Ria was on a whole new level of drunkenness. The boys were still alright but the girls couldn't even handle five straight shots.
" Babe are you alright ?" Andre asked Ria who looked like she was gonna pass out at any moment. " I think you should stop drinking "
" No. " Ria said. " I'm fine. I won't be remembered as the weird uncool girl "
" Okay. " Andre replied.
The boys stood up, excused themselves and went to the entrance of the auditorium. They were talking about something and laughing.
" Dude " Drayce called Andre suddenly.
" What?"
" Take a look at your girl " Drayce said pointing.
Andre looked into the auditorium and saw Ria standing on the table naked except for her unmentionables.
" Oh shit! " Andre yelled. " Riarielle get down from that table!"
He quickly took off his shirt and ran to where Ria was. He brought her down from the table, dressed her in his shirt and carried her out of the auditorium.
" I'm taking her home " he said to his friends.
" Good luck " Estevan said. " At least my date's not drunk " He winked at Drayce.
" Between the both of us, you have the higher chance of getting drunk " Drayce said.
" Yeah yeah " Estevan said laughing.
" Now that I remember, you didn't get me any gift " Drayce said to Estevan.
" I got you flowers. "
" Flowers that you took from my room "
" Geez Drayce. A gift is a gift regardless of whether it was stolen or bought "
Drayce snorted and looked away. Kairos and Estevan went back to the party, leaving Drayce by the school gate. He had stood there for just five minutes but had seen more than ten guys carrying their drunk dates out of the party. Drayce was about thanking his lucky stars for not having the responsibility of taking a drunk girl home when he saw Ezzy trying to cross the road.
Cars were coming from different angles and she didn't seem to be obvious of her surroundings. He ran towards her, grabbed her hand and pulled her away.
" Watch where you're going " He said. " Where are you even going?"
" I'm going home. " Ezzy replied. Her speech was slightly slurred. " Mom said to be home by midnight "
" Where's your date?" Drayce asked.
" Vaelor? He said he had something to do "
" Asshole. " He muttered.
" Did you say something?" Ezzy asked.
" No. Come on let's get you home "
" I won't go with you. " Ezzy said running.
" Come back!" Drayce yelled running after her.
She was surprisingly fast. Drayce had to use his superspeed to catch up with her. They both fell to the ground.
" I think I'll have to put you on a leash " Drayce said breathing heavily.
" I'm thirsty " Ezzy said.
" I'll get you water " Drayce said standing up and pulling her to his car.
He helped her into the passenger seat and went over to the driver seat. He drove out if the parking lot and into the street. The weather suddenly changed and it began to rain almost immediately. Drayce stopped the car in front of a store. He left the engine running, got out and slammed the door shut.
" Stay in the car and don't touch anything " He instructed Ezzy.
Ezzy nodded her head and he assumed she understood. He walked into the store, bought two bottles of water and came out quickly. He walked to where the car was parked, opened the door to give Ezzy the water but she was not inside.
Drayce groaned and hitting his head repeatedly on the car door.
" I wasn't even the one that asked you out. Why do I have to go though this ?" He asked aloud.
He dropped the water in the car and began looking for her. He couldn't find her anywhere. He came back to the spot where he had parked the car hoping she had come back but she wasn't there. He was thinking about the places he hadn't checked when he heard her voice.
" You know, men are horrible "
" Oh jeez " Drayce said. " I feel a headache coming on "
He traced her voice in the rain with his awesome hearing abilities. He saw Ezzy standing on a table yelling on top of her lungs.
" Do not trust any man " She yelled.
Drayce walked towards her angrily. He pulled her from the table.
" No stop " She said. " I'm a motivational speaker "
" No you're not " Drayce said. " No one's listening "
Ezzy looked around and indeed saw that there was no one around. They had all gone inside because of the rain.
" Oh " she said pouting.
Drayce frowned. She was really drenched. Her hair was wet and she was shivering. If she stayed for much longer she would catch a cold.
" Come on let's go " He said carrying her like she weighed nothing.
Drayce walked back to the car with Ezzy in his arms. He dumped her in the passenger seat, got into the driver seat and drove in the direction of his house. Her house was farther and it would be tough getting there in the rain and her mom probably won't be happy seeing her looking like this.
Drayce drove into his compound.His house was a big Victorian style mansion. He parked his car in the garage and got out. Ezzy had already fallen asleep. He carried her into the house and up the stairs. He pushed open the door to his room and went in.
Drayce dumped Ezzy on the bed like a sack of potatoes. Getting her out of her wet clothes was another issue. He wasn't sure she would appreciate the fact that he had undressed her while she was unconscious. Not sure of what to do, Drayce left her that way. He got her phone out of her bag and dialed her mother's phone number. It rang once before she picked.
" Esmeralda Rhazmyra!" Her mom yelled " I thought I gave you clear instructions why don't you ever listen to me?"
" Um.. good evening ma'am. This isn't Esme. I'm Drayce her classmate "
" Oh... What happened to my baby? Is she alright?" Griselda asked getting worried.
" She's fine ma'am. She got caught up in the rain and couldn't come home. She's sleeping so I decided to let you know so you won't be worried " Drayce said.
" Oh thank you so much, Drayce "
" No problem ma'am "
" I'll call tomorrow "
" Okay ma'am. Goodnight "
" Goodnight "
Drayce ended the call and dropped her phone on the bed.
" I was so polite " He said to himself. " I never knew I had it in me "
He chuckled and went into the bathroom. He took off his wet clothes and dumped them in the bathtub. He put on a sweatshirt and sweatpants. He got on the bed and covered himself with the duvet. Drayce stared at Ezzy for a while. He decided to have a little sympathy for her. He covered her with the end of the duvet and mumbled
" I've done the best I can. I wasn't even the one who took her out. I'm such a nice person"
Drayce placed his head on the table and drifted off, the sound of the rain on the roof making it easy to fall asleep.
