Chapter 21 - END

Caroline Havens: A-.. Work

[1st Base]

Gehrmensch picked up the gun.

"You'll leave us, right, if I shoot myself!?" What? The hell?

The Grunt seemed confused as hell. I guess it was opposite to their plan, but I'm scared if Gehrmensch... really does something rash.

"What are you doing? Drop that gun right now!" I called Gehrmensch out!

"Don't do anything rash!" Momo warned, while trying to maintain her composure. She must be feeling fatigue.

"Boss! The police are moving! Ministry is involved because of some unknown reason. Now if we don't leave... we might be..." Every Grunt started to leave—except that one.

He pointed the gun at me.

"Don't even try!" Gehrmensch warned him at the exact same moment he warned me not to move.

I was about to hit his head.

Some Grunts came towards us running. My heart was throbbing in melancholy.

"You're outnumbered, do it already or I'll shoot all three of you!" The Grunt positioned his gun as others marked our faces too.

"Fine!" Gehrmensch's smile scared the shit outta them.

He pointed the gun at his head.

"Hey, Caroline!" He called me. Is he really doing it? Should I snatch the gun from him? I'm scared. My fingers were trembling uncontrollably.

"Don't do it!" I cried out.

"Knock it off!" Momo finally moved and now was the main target of the Grunts.

"The police are here! Leave!" the Grunts yelled, yet these three were locked on us.

"I promised you, Caroline, you remember that?" What? I-I-I don't know what he's talking about.

"Stop it! Don't do anything rash! Please! I know I was late there and I... avoided you and your present. I just didn't know you were preparing such a big thing for me, please!" I slowly got closer to him.

"That I'd split the ocean for you." This line? I remember. It was cringe as hell but... why now?

"What are you doing?" My final cry.

"Then just a bullet won't hurt, right?" No.. no.. no.. no. It can't be... he's just joking—joking...

Ba-dump!

"Gehrmensch..." I couldn't say anything, and the Grunts had nearly pulled the trigger.

The Grunts turned away and dropped their weapons. Ah... I was scared for a second. Gehrmensch had a relief on his face and little... welled-up eyes?

He w-was s-sm-smiling. Tilting his head towards me.

"Wish me luck." It's not how you say... At least confes-...

"I...-" If you don't, then only my love might be able to do something. Wait...

.....

I looked at my body. It felt so light, my head was getting cold inside. My feet and palms were sweating yet freezing cold.

My fingers were violently trembly to a point I couldn't control. My lower jaw was shaking. I could feel my breathing.

I remembered—the day I entered NYCO BROTHERS company as an intern. Then I met Gehrmensch when I was carrying loads of files and I crashed into him. He helped me pick them up. He was flustered, totally. I didn't recognise him.

Second time, I saw him in a meeting where he was explaining the expenses and new budget for teams. I got to know, he was our CEO.

Third time, it was the presentation I did just before I got hired.

Fourth time, when I was jump-scared by him while reading the news.

Fifth time, when he held my hand to help me go downstairs at the ball's attending.

Sixth time, I saw him at the lunch table.

Smoking in rain.

Angry at Momo's father in that video clip.

And now...

My Eclipsed eyes met his Burning angel eyes.

-.....B‐.....!!!??

BU-DUMP!

LUB-DUB!

LUBDUB-LUB!

<7 Minutes before>

[Pursera's POV]

I was heading towards Nickel's location. Suddenly, out of the crowd, four or five people stopped my way, and every local ran away seeing weapons in their hands.

Children and adults closed their windows, locked their doors.

I got off my car. I have to reach him.

The men standing in front of me seemed dangerous. They were armed with daggers and even pistols.

I have to go by any means. I sat in the driver's seat. Closed the door.

I will blow them all up if they don't move.

Suddenly, a hand pressed my head on the dashboard, and a small metal screech-like sound passed near me.

"Who is it?" I removed his hand and looked back.

A long cane-like stick—but not exactly a cane. Black coat and red eyes.

"Welver Draculae. What do you want?" I assume these aren't his men. He doesn't use cheap tricks. Is he here to kill me? Because I announced my claim on the lineage?

"Just go now. I'll handle them." I looked back. He saved me from a bullet. To be exact, it was a stun gun's ammo.

"Understood." If he's involved, it's not a small thing. And these who dared to attack me must be from a high agenda.

Because no one in this country could dare to attack me—the living reincarnation of Angel Affratia.

I'm still worshipped by millions.

"Move!" He ordered them. I don't know if it was fear or a trick, but they left a space for me.

I drove as fast as I could. Just then, a call came.

...

Welver held his long stick and opened it from its head and took out a long, sharp blade.

Whomever's eyes saw their reflection on it was now laying lifelessly on the ground, with cuts on their neck and body.

Not even a single one was left alive.

[Base 2 of Mayor]

Only God can save us now.
