[Hoenn Region, Route 111 – Desert Area (Desert Ruin)]
After destroying the entrance, Azure brought out his trusted Pikachu and Eevee by his side as they ventured inside the Desert Ruins. The interior of the ruins was a labyrinth of echoing chambers and narrow passageways.
The air was still, heavy with the scent of old stone and petrichor. Azure moved with practiced stealth, his footsteps barely disturbing the ancient dust.
He knew the legends; Regirock usually demanded a specific set of instructions to awaken it – a series of symbolic gestures, a specific item. But Azure hadn't come to wake Regirock by its rules…
He'd come to challenge it on his own terms.
He eventually found it, nestled within a cavernous chamber, bathed in the faint, ethereal glow filtering down from unseen cracks above. Regirock, the Peak Rock Pokémon, a monolithic entity of ancient stones, lay dormant.
Its massive, craggy body, etched with cryptic patterns, seemed to breathe with the slow rhythm of the earth itself. It was asleep, a testament to the passage of untold centuries, its power latent but undeniably vast.

Azure's heart hammered against his ribs. This was it. He wasn't here to capture a Pokémon through trickery, but through sheer battle prowess. He had a strategy, unconventional, perhaps, but one that leveraged his own Pokémon's unique abilities.
He reached for another Poké Ball, releasing his Golduck as he uttered, "Alright, I need your help, Golduck."

The Water-type Pokémon materialized, its intelligent eyes immediately scanning its surroundings, then fixing on the slumbering titan. Golduck, renowned for its formidable psychic abilities and control over water, was the key to his audacious plan.
Azure commanded, his voice a low whisper in the vast chamber, "Golduck… Use Soak. Target Regirock."
Golduck nodded, a determined glint in its eyes. It raised its webbed hands, and a brilliant surge of water erupted from its palms, not a torrent, but a concentrated, focused stream aimed at the Regirock.
*Splash*
The water enveloped Regirock, seeping into its rocky crevices, drenching its ancient form. The Soak attack, unlike a simple Water Gun, didn't just wet the target; it changed its very elemental properties.
As the last drops of water receded, a faint, blue aura pulsed around Regirock. It's typing, once pure Rock, had been temporarily altered. It was now a Water-type Pokémon.

The sudden shift in its elemental essence was enough. A low rumble emanated from Regirock, a deep, resonating sound that vibrated through the very stones of the ruins, "Regi… regii…"
Its eyes, previously dim and unseeing, snapped open, glowing with an intense, primeval energy. The slumbering titan was awake, and it was furious.
Azure, however, had already gotten his result. He recalled Golduck with a swift movement, his gaze unwavering as Regirock slowly, ponderously, began to stir, its massive limbs grinding against the stone floor.

Azure eyes narrowed as he gazed at his most trusted and strongest partner: Pikachu. Pikachu on Azure's shoulder, its cheeks already sparking with suppressed electricity…
*Zzzz*
It chirped, a sound of fierce readiness, its dark eyes fixed on the colossal Regirock, "Pi! Pikachu! (Let me at him!)"
The tables had turned. Regirock, now a Water-type, was supremely vulnerable to Electric-type attacks.
Azure said excitedly, his voice ringing with barely contained excitement, "Alright, Pikachu… Let's show this titan the power of our bond! Electro Ball, full power!"
*Zoooom*
Pikachu leaped from his shoulder, streaking across the chamber cautiously. A sphere of raw, crackling electricity formed between its paws, growing larger and more intense with every nanosecond.
Regirock, still shaking off the remnants of its millennia-long slumber, raised one massive arm in defense, but it was too slow…
*PEW*
*BOOOOM*
The Electro Ball slammed into its chest with a blinding flash and a deafening crackle, sending ripples of super-effective energy through its newly acquired Water-type body. The impact threw Regirock back, its stony form scraping against the ancient floor…
"REGI!! ROCK!!!"

It roared, a sound that shook the very foundations of the ruins, gathering itself. It retaliated with a devastating Rock Throw, massive boulders materializing from the air and hurtling towards Pikachu.
Azure yelled, his eyes never leaving the battle, "Agility, dodge!"
*Zooom*
Pikachu was a blur, weaving between the incoming projectiles, its agility a stark contrast to Regirock's lumbering power. The battle raged.
Regirock, despite its long dormancy, possessed an inherent, raw power. Its physical attacks, Focus Punch and Hammer Arm, were delivered with earth-shattering force, each blow capable of flattening mountains.
But the years of slumber had indeed dulled its edge, its reflexes not as sharp, its movements not as fluid as they might once have been. Azure, on the other hand, was sharp, tactical, and utterly in tune with his partner.
Pikachu, fueled by its Trainer's trust and years of experience by its side, danced around Regirock's slower attacks, peppering it with Thunderbolt and Volt Tackle. The super-effective damage was undeniable, each electric strike eliciting a grunt of pain from the Rock titan.
Azure kept a watchful eye on Golduck and Eevee, who he had released to stand ready on the periphery of the battle. Their role wasn't to interfere, wasn't to gang up.
He'd instructed them carefully while examining the battle, "Protect Pikachu, protect me… but do not attack."
He knew that a legendary Pokémon, especially one of Regirock's pride and power, would never truly follow a trainer who resorted to overwhelming numerical advantage. This had to be a test of strength, a testament to his and Pikachu's individual power.
He needed to earn Regirock's respect, its allegiance, by proving it might alone. Azure commanded, his voice calm and clear, cutting through the growing tension, "Pikachu, Agile Style Extreme Speed!!"
*ZOOOOM*
Pikachu became a yellow blur, streaking across the dusty floor, aiming for Regirock's base. Before the massive titan could fully orient itself, Pikachu slammed into its leg, a surprising amount of force behind the blow.
*BOOOOM*
Regirock barely flinched, but it acknowledged the attack with a guttural roar, "Regi… REGIROCK!! (I've felt that…)"
Its immense right arm swung down, a pulverizing Rock Throw aimed directly at Pikachu. But Azure ordered swiftly, "Dodge and use Thunderbolt!"
*Wooosh*
Pikachu, already anticipating the slow, lumbering attack, zipped to the side, narrowly avoiding the impact that cratered the floor where it had just stood. Without missing a beat, it gathered electricity, its cheeks sparking violently, and unleashed a searing bolt of pure lightning.
*BOOOM*
The Thunderbolt crackled across the chamber, hitting Regirock full in the chest. A shower of sparks erupted from the rock titan, and it recoiled slightly, a low groan escaping its rocky form, "Regi…"
Electric attacks were super effective, but Regirock's Defenses were legendary. Even becoming a Water Type, it still held strong as Azure's eyes narrowed as he thought cautiously, 'It should be down by now… but I suppose it would be too easy for this Rock Titan to lose here. It did keep Kyogre and Groudon activity at bay along with Regice and Registeel…'

Regirock retaliated, its body glowing as it unleashed Ancient Power. Several glowing, prehistoric stones materialized around it, then rocketed towards Pikachu.
Azure eyes narrowed, seeing them launch. He swiftly countered, "Strong Style Iron Tail, deflect them!"
*Shinng*
Pikachu's tail glowed metallic, hardening into a formidable weapon. With incredible speed and precision, it spun, batting away the incoming projectiles.
*SMACK*
One stone got through, glancing off its shoulder, eliciting a grunt of pain. Pikachu landed, breathing heavily, but its resolve remained unbroken.
Azure's eyes hardened, seeing this as he swiftly ordered coldly, "Alright, partner, keep the pressure on! Agile Style Electro Ball!"
*PEW*
Pikachu's tail began to spin, gathering energy, forming a massive, crackling sphere of electricity. It launched it with all its might. The Electro Ball, supercharged by Pikachu's agility and Regirock's relative slowness, slammed into the titan's midsection…
*BOOOOM*
… The impact was deafening, echoing through the chamber, and this time, Regirock staggered back several steps, its rock-hard exterior showing faint, glowing cracks. It recoiled in pain, "Regi!!!"

Regirock responded with a devastating Stone Edge. Jagged pillars of rock erupted from the floor, rapidly advancing towards Pikachu, attempting to trap it.
Azure knew Pikachu's speed was their greatest asset against Regirock's raw power. He ordered sternly, "Jump! Extreme Speed to the head!"
*ZOOOM*
Pikachu leaped high above the encroaching stone spikes, clearing them with ease. In mid-air, it became a yellow projectile again, rocketing towards Regirock's face.
*BOOOM*
It slammed into one of the titan's yellow eye-dots with an impressive thwack. Regirock roared in frustration, momentarily stunned, its massive head recoiling, "REGI!!"
Seeing the momentary opening, Azure pressed the attack. He ordered, "Now, Strong Style! Volt Tackle Pikachu!"
*ZOOOM*
Pikachu, its body wreathed in a corona of yellow electricity, charged with reckless abandon. It was a move that inflicted recoil, but against a foe like Regirock, it was necessary to deliver maximum damage.
*BOOOOM*
It hit Regirock with the force of a battering ram, a blinding flash of light engulfing the two Pokémon. The air filled with the ozone tang of supercharged electricity and the grinding sound of rock on rock.
When the light faded, Pikachu landed hard, panting, with visible dark marks from the recoil marring its fur. Pikachu, battered but unyielding, delivered a devastating Volt Tackle to Regirock's lower body, striking precisely where the ancient stones showed signs of the most recent electric assault.
But Regirock was in worse shape. Deeper, more pronounced cracks spiderwebbed across its body, glowing erratically.
It moved more slowly, its roars now laced with a strained, weary note, "Re… Reg…"
It was still standing, still immensely powerful, but it was exhausted. The ancient power was waning. It was weakened, brought to its knees not by overwhelming force, but by a masterful display of speed, strategy, and pure, concentrated Electric-type power.
Azure knew this was the moment. He reached for his bag, his hand finding the cool, smooth surface of an Ultra Ball.
He had come prepared for anything. This wasn't merely a capture; it was the culmination of strategy, determination, and the unbreakable bond between him and Pikachu.
Azure called out proudly, his voice filled with pride for his partner, "One more for the road, buddy! Strong Style Thunderbolt!"

Pikachu, mustering every last ounce of its remaining energy, let loose a final, devastating Thunderbolt. It struck Regirock with pinpoint accuracy, the full force of the attack flowing through the ancient titan's weakened form…
*BOOOOM*
Regirock screamed, a sound like grinding tectonic plates, before finally, slowly, agonizingly, it began to collapse, "REEEEEEGI…!!!"
*THUD*

Its massive body hit the floor with a terrifying thud, sending up a cloud of ancient dust. The entire chamber trembled. Regirock lay prone, its yellow eyes dim, flickering with exhaustion.
Azure wasted no time. With a swift, practiced motion, he hurled the Ultra Ball…
*Wooosh*
The sphere arced through the air, a blue and black blur, and struck Regirock dead center. A flash of brilliant white light erupted, sucking the immense Pokémon inside…
*Thud*
The Ultra Ball hit the ground with a soft thud and began to shake.
One shake…

Azure held his breath, his eyes fixed on the vibrating ball. Pikachu, equally tense, watched with wide eyes, its own small body trembling with effort…
This was the moment of truth. Till…

Click. The clicking sound. The definitive sound of a successful capture echoed through the silent ruins.
Azure let out a slow, steady breath he hadn't realized he was holding. A genuine, triumphant smile spread across his face.
He picked up the Ultra Ball, weighing it in his hand, feeling the latent power contained within. He said, his voice quiet with satisfaction, looking down at his loyal partner, "We did it, Pikachu… we caught a Regirock!"
Pikachu, though tired, let out a weak but happy Pika-chu, a proud spark still dancing in its eyes. He knelt, gently scratching Pikachu's head as he said proudly, "You were incredible, as always. Take a well-deserved rest, my friend."
With a soft glow, Pikachu returned to its Poké Ball, ready for a long, replenishing sleep. Azure stood, looking at the Ultra Ball that now housed the ancient Regirock. A new, formidable ally had joined his team.
He quickly took out his Arc Phone as Golduck and Eevee both breathed out a sigh of relief. They got close to Azure, seeing the Regirock within its Ultra Ball.
[Regirock, the Rock Peak Pokémon. According to legend, Regirock was created by the Legendary Pokémon Regigigas using rocks. It used to be worshipped by humans; however, at some point, ancient people started fearing its power and sealed it away.
In Hoenn, it was sealed in the Desert Ruins; in Sinnoh, it was sealed in the Rock Peak Ruins; and in Galar, it was sealed in the Rock Peak Ruins. When it gets damaged in battle, it will search for new rocks to repair itself.
Because of this, the rocks it is made of come from several different places around the world, which contributes to Regirock's patchwork appearance. Recently, cutting-edge technology has found that Regirock is entirely made of stone and rock; not even a heart or a brain was found.]

Azure managed to calm himself down once he got Regirock. With a powerful titan now under his command, the next few days of desert training would certainly be… interesting for him…
He couldn't wait to see what Sapphire had accomplished on her side of the desert, oblivious to the legendary encounter that had just unfolded. But then he muttered curiously, "And then there are the other Regis… I doubt Steven would mind if I captured them myself… much…"
