Synopsis
The first time Nan Wan saw this man, she knew he had a "sickness," and it was the terminal kind. Coincidentally, she did too. He needed a wife who could help stabilize his career, she needed a husband who could pull her out of hell. He had a criminal record, she had an ex-husband, just perfectly matched. ———— Originally, those disdainful looks gradually turned into envy. ———— One day, a piece of news spread about the beautiful woman of the past passing away, and all the evidence pointed to Mrs. Mu. Everyone speculated that this marriage would come to an end, and even Nan Wan thought so too. However, Mr. Mu said to her, “Wanwan, I need you.” So, the days in prison didn’t seem as unbearable as imagined.

Chapter 1 - 001. Sorry, I am preparing to get a divorce.

Have you ever had this feeling, knowing you're in a dream, yet unable to wake up?

The pain from a whip lashing against the skin felt all too real, and the blood-stained quilt seemed like a gigantic net trapping her inside.

No escape, and nowhere to run.

"Beep... Beep... Beep..."

The piercing sound of a horn pulled Nan Wan out of her nightmare, and her blurred vision gradually cleared.

Her throat was dry, and her breathing somewhat labored.

Shaking off the chaos of the nightmare, the head buried on the steering wheel slowly rose, and her body leaned back. She raised her hand to tuck the disheveled hair behind her ear, wiping the fine beads of sweat off her forehead.

Nan Wan glanced at the watch on her wrist. The car had been stuck for about twenty minutes, basically inching forward bit by bit before.

It seemed clear now, but so many cars jammed together weren't easy to untangle, and the person behind was in too much of a hurry.

Nan Wan picked up the water beside her, took a few sips, and relieved the dryness in her throat.

She opened the door and got out.

Walking to the car behind hers, she knocked three times before the window was rolled down.

From Nan Wan's angle, it was natural she couldn't see the person on the back seat; all she could see were the long fingers resting on the lap, tapping leisurely against the knee.

It was clearly an old man.

"Sir, your civic manners need some improvement."

Nan Wan's words were directed at the driver, but her gaze lingered on the back seat.

Driver Liu An recognized Nan Wan at first glance. After all, her recent exposure rate could rival any top star, making it hard not to know her.

He was only in his twenties, hardly the image to be called 'Sir.' Clearly, the third Miss of the Nan Family was sarcastically addressing President Mu.

He sneaked a glance at the rearview mirror and found his boss with half-closed eyes, seemingly unaffected.

Liu An retracted his gaze and said, "Miss, you can't blame me. Our boss is in a rush for a meeting, and further delays will make him late."

Nan Wan blinked and said words that could infuriate people, "I'm not in a hurry."

Liu An's mouth twitched, "Did you fall asleep in the car? Or planning to stay here for the New Year?"

The road ahead was pretty much clear. Goodness, he'd waited five minutes without seeing the car in front move an inch.

Nan Wan didn't get angry. Instead, she flashed a bright smile, "Sorry, I'm headed for a divorce, so my mood's a bit odd. I don't want to move, and even if you crash into me, I won't budge. So, bear with it."

Saying that, she didn't care about the driver's reaction, turned, and got back into her car, slamming the door with a loud bang, making herself seem quite agitated.

After getting back in her car, Nan Wan started the engine, moved lazily forward, blocking the old man's car whenever he tried to overtake.

Qing City had seen rain for a whole week, but today's weather was clear, with warm and gentle sunshine, very fitting for a divorce.

After playing for about ten minutes, Nan Wan stepped on the gas, speeding toward the conference venue.

Liu An's driving skills were completely overshadowed by a woman, with countless "grass-mud horses" galloping through his heart.

After a couple of dry laughs, he helplessly explained, "President Mu, I was actually giving way to her."

A minute later, a deep voice came from the back seat.

"Speed up."

As if the sight of the red hem and the strong scent of rose perfume had never appeared.
