Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Care for Gu Yan, Stay Away from Tang Yuxiu

She also worked as a waitress before, and she would never treat a customer like this!

Gu Yan knew she was in the wrong this time, so she tolerated the waitress's attitude. In other situations, she would definitely have responded sharply.

"What's going on?" Xue Xianglan saw Gu Yan arguing with the waitress for a while and walked over curiously to inquire.

The waitress, seeing her, quickly greeted politely, "Miss Xue."

Xue Xianglan nodded slightly, looking at Gu Yan, "What's up? Weren't you going to the restroom?"

"Oh, nothing, I just bumped into and broke a few of their plates."

Xue Xianglan glanced at the mess on the floor, understood, and said to the waitress, "Charge the cost of the broken dishes to my account."

"Yes, Miss Xue," the waitress replied with her head down, her face turning red.

So this person was a friend brought by Xue Xianglan, and earlier she had mocked them without restraint.

Gu Yan glanced at the waitress, intending to leave, but couldn't help saying, "Don't judge people by their appearance, and don't look down on someone just because they're not wearing brand names. Once they're in here, they're a customer, and should be treated equally."

The waitress's face turned beet red, nodding repeatedly.

Gu Yan didn't want to embarrass her further, so she said a few words to Xue Xianglan and quickly walked toward the restroom.

Over here, Tang Yuxiu had originally stopped in his tracks, silently observing the scene without showing any emotion on his face.

The woman next to him spoke gently, "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing, let's go," Tang Yuxiu replied, taking the lead and stepping forward, following the waitress into the private room.

The woman looked at his back, a trace of disappointment flickering in her eyes.

Gu Yan entered the restroom, placing her hands under the faucet. As the water flowed out, she repeatedly splashed her face.

Staring at herself in the mirror, with a flushed face, messy hair, and water droplets sliding down her cheeks, she looked a bit disheveled.

She knew nothing good ever came from running into Tang Yuxiu, and once again, things went wrong!

Gu Yan selflessly blamed the earlier incident on the bad luck charm that was Tang Yuxiu. If not for him, she wouldn't have been so flustered and run for some respite.

Sigh...

She wiped her face with a tissue, combed her hair with her fingers, and said to the reflection in the mirror, "Care for Gu Yan, stay away from Tang Yuxiu!"

Without lingering much longer, Gu Yan returned to the restaurant, cautiously scanning her surroundings. Not seeing any sign of Tang Yuxiu, she finally relaxed and walked back to Xue Xianglan's table.

Xue Xianglan didn't ask much, only saying, "After the main course, let's have some dessert; the rain should continue for a while."

Gu Yan originally planned to leave after eating to avoid running into the jinx, but the rain outside was too heavy, so she had to go along with Xue Xianglan's suggestion.

"Oh, right, I forgot to tell you, I have to go abroad in a few days. Take good care of yourself."

"What are you going abroad for?"

"A relative is having a birthday celebration and invited my parents. My dad has to work on company matters, so my mom and I are going."

"Oh. You really have a lot of relatives, going overseas and all."

"We're not really that close, just making an appearance, and we'll take the chance for a bit of a trip too."

Upon hearing this, Gu Yan stabbed at the food on her plate vigorously, "You rich people are so carefree."

"Just a little. If anything comes up while I'm away, give me a call, though I have no idea when I'll actually be back from having fun."

"Got it, got it," Gu Yan replied perfunctorily.

Xue Xianglan was helpless, fully aware that even if something did happen, Gu Yan would never go out of her way to call her for help.
