She stopped in front of a pawnbroker's shop. It was already late, and nearly all the shops in town had closed for the night, but this one was still open.
After hesitating for a long time, she knocked on the door.
With a creak, a middle-aged man, looking somewhat wealthy, peeked out. Seeing her, his eyes flashed with amazement, but he quickly collected himself, smiling as he said, "Are you here to pawn something?"
The woman slightly pursed her lips and nodded, "Yes."
Her voice was somewhat cool, like the sound of snowflakes falling on water, carrying a hint of chilliness.
"Please come in, please come in!"
Seeing such an extraordinary woman in such a small town, the owner seemed very enthusiastic, "It's cold outside, come in and have a seat!"
The woman hesitated for a moment, then walked in.
The decor inside the pawnbroker's had an antique charm.
The woman walked in, closed her umbrella, shook off the snowflakes carefully, and only then placed her umbrella by the door.
