But now that the man was dead, and he had always been loyal to Melody, never overstepping any boundaries, sacrificing himself to save Melody from Virgil Davies' schemes.
Such a man gave a wooden doll to Melody Parker, and it was his last wish before dying.
By rights, Director Davies should help fulfill this wish by giving the wooden doll to Melody.
But Director Davies wouldn't do it.
Because Barrett Carter's death already made Melody feel guilty and remorseful, and if Melody were to see this blood-stained wooden doll, she would likely be even more heartbroken and sad.
