Which one? Which one is she talking about?
He was confused for only a short moment before he understood what she meant. He furrowed his brow again, scanning her up and down with a bit of puzzlement: "Are you talking about your period?"
Alright, hearing him drop the word 'period' so directly, even though Scarlett Yates wasn't actually on her cycle, her face flushed, and she bit her lip, nodding: "Yeah, so... we can't..."
"Really?" Matthew Saxon was a bit skeptical.
When would she not have it, but right at this moment?
Scarlett Yates nodded like a pecking chick: "Really, you know... women have those few days every month, I have no reason to lie to you."
Matthew Saxon couldn't possibly check if she was lying about this.
Scarlett Yates felt she was really clever, coming up with a reasonable excuse that wouldn't hurt his feelings while allowing her to decline him.
Earlier, she was kissed so dizzy by Matthew Saxon that she almost forgot Hayes Simmons' reminders.
