Daisy Ginger was stunned for a moment.
It might have been a few seconds, or maybe a few minutes. She couldn't remember how long, only that she could finally speak after the roaring sounds in her head subsided.
She heard herself softly ask Ryan Smith, "Did he remember?"
Ryan said, "His memory has been gradually coming back over this year. Otherwise, I wouldn't have come to find you now."
Daisy fell into a brief silence again.
There was no imagined happiness or pain; she realized her entire emotional state was very dull. Those once surging feelings had been completely worn out by years of waiting, and the mention of Edward Stephens' name felt distant.
Is it that she no longer loved him?
Or had she given up on love?
She lowered her head and softly said, "I don't want to go."
Her response seemed to leave Ryan a bit stunned.
Daisy looked at him coolly, "Do you think, because he's looking for me, I have to go see him?"
