"Asher Land..." she softly murmured his name, feeling an overwhelming urge to stand up and walk to him, but having squatted too long, her legs were already numb. As she just managed to rise a little, she stumbled, nearly falling.
He furrowed his brow tightly, inwardly tumultuous yet fiercely restrained.
Why was he so silent and reserved? Sophie Smith couldn't figure it out.
Was he really angry with her, and didn't want to 'rescue' her in the middle of the night...
Her eyes dimmed slightly.
Asher Land walked over, stood in front of her, and picked her up in his arms.
"Sophie, can't you be a little less worrying?"
His eyes were full of distress as he held her, walking step by step towards the car parked outside.
He placed her on the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt.
The atmosphere was a bit awkward. Sophie recalled how aggressive she had been with him during the day, feeling a moment of discomfort.
