Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Shorts Are Too Short

The water on the bridge had also receded, no longer a disturbance. After greeting Lu Xingzhi, Huo Jincheng left first.

After they left, Lu Xingzhi breathed a sigh of relief.

Someone like Huo Jincheng at her home, no matter how easygoing he tried to act, simply didn't fit in here.

The pressure he put on her was overwhelming.

However, before leaving, Huo Jincheng mentioned that everything for her schooling in Beijing had been arranged.

Lu Xingzhi was left with no room to change her mind even if she wanted to.

In the afternoon, Lu Xingzhi went directly to the best music store in L City; years ago, she had sold her piano to this store.

Now that Huo Jincheng had taken care of the enrollment paperwork, her money was just enough to buy back the piano.

After paying, she returned home and carefully wiped down the piano.

Sitting in front of the piano, her eyes turned red.

With great effort, she managed not to shed tears.

The piano she once sold had finally returned to her hands.

Back then, her father sat at this piano and taught her to play her first song.

Covering the piano with a white cloth, Lu Xingzhi sighed.

Right now, she truly was left with nothing but herself.

--

Five days passed quickly, and Lu Xingzhi didn't really have much to prepare, just tidying up a little.

When Huo Jincheng appeared before Lu Xingzhi again, she couldn't help but show a stunned look.

Unlike last time, today he dressed more casually; a dark blue T-shirt, beige casual pants, and a pair of black sunglasses. Despite such simple attire, he exuded a noble aura.

"Mr. Huo, you didn't have to come over especially." Lu Xingzhi took her suitcase outside and locked the door.

"To show my sincerity." Huo Jincheng took off his glasses and walked towards Lu Xingzhi. She dressed simply as well, wearing a loose T-shirt and denim shorts, revealing her long straight, fair legs.

Huo Jincheng's gaze fell upon her legs; the shorts seemed a bit short, rather eye-catching.

"No other luggage?" Seeing she just had one suitcase, he handed it to Wei Yang and naturally took her hand.

"Hm." Lu Xingzhi nodded dumbly, eyes looking at her hand held by Huo Jincheng, feeling a bit dazed.

"What's wrong?" Huo Jincheng saw Lu Xingzhi hadn't moved and turned to look at her.

"I'm not a child, I can walk by myself." Lu Xingzhi looked at him, speaking earnestly.

Her serious demeanor amused Huo Jincheng; he slightly curved his lips but didn't let go, "Let's go."

Even Huo Jincheng was a bit surprised; he typically didn't engage in such intimate gestures with girls, holding Lu Xingzhi's hand was just instinctive.

Lu Xingzhi lightly furrowed her delicate brows, biting her tender lips tightly, not daring to speak, just letting him lead her to the car.

Sitting in the back seat with Huo Jincheng, her nerves were tense, and her body felt stiff.

Originally, Huo Jincheng already brought some pressure; sitting together like this made her even more unable to relax.

"Are you afraid of me?"

Suddenly a pleasant voice spoke up, and Lu Xingzhi realized Huo Jincheng was talking to her.

"No." Lu Xingzhi wasn't exactly afraid, just reacting instinctively.

She simply didn't know how to interact with someone like this.
