- 7th Unit Dormitories -

Twenty minutes later, Cain, Kyoka, and Honami were in front of the 7th Unit's dorms. It was a massive Japanese-style building that looked like it would be home to someone of high status.

Personally, it wasn't Cain's style. He preferred the architecture of his country. Perhaps in a few years, he'll take a vacation and find a decent-sized piece of land out in the countryside of Japan to build a hacienda-style home.

'Yeah, I'm definitely doing that,' Cain thought.

"It's a lot more bland than I expected," Cain stated. "But it's nice enough nonetheless. It also has a pretty impressive barrier, but it's weakening. I'd suggest you replace it with a new one here soon." Kyoka and Honami looked at him, surprised.

"How did you know there's a barrier?" Honami questioned.

"Almost nothing escapes my eyes," he answered cryptically, earning a confused and annoyed look from the pink-haired woman.

Like all Peach users, Cain has a sixth sense. However, his extrasensory capabilities were much more potent, allowing him to perceive, sense, and detect what most Peach users couldn't.

"How do you know the barrier is getting weaker?" Kyoka questioned, narrowing her eyes.

"The seal used to project the barrier is outdated, and the energy powering it is diminishing," he explained, making Kyoka's and Honami's eyes widen in surprise.

Anti-Demonic Barriers, while powerful and long-lasting, last for only so long. If Cain had to guess how old the seal protecting the dormitories is, he'd say about seventy-five years old.

Most barriers, even advanced ones, should only last twenty-five or forty-five years. It's a miracle the barrier is still standing, and the dormitory hasn't been destroyed yet.

Cain would've offered to set a new barrier for them. However, his skills in sealing have diminished significantly over time, as the tools and resources needed to create them were highly specialized and only accessible to ADC. Even if his skills weren't rusty and he had access to what he needed, his overall knowledge of the area is outdated.

However, now that he was a part of the ADC, he'd have access to what he needed to get back into sealing again.

But that can wait for later.

"Are you sure?" Kyoka asked.

"Yeah, I'm sure," he confirmed, making the silver-haired beauty sigh.

"Then I'll be sure to contact the Sealing Arts Department immediately. Thanks for informing me," she said, looking at him affectionately, earning a questioning look from Honami.

'Does she have a crush on Cain?' That possibility bothered Honami.

"No problem," Cain shrugged lazily, smiling back at her. "This place is gonna be my new home. I'd rather not see it get destroyed anytime soon."

The trio entered the building, and two women and a little girl stood near the entrance. All three of them wore variations of the ADC uniform.

The woman leaning against the wall had a curvaceous body, long dark sea-green hair tied into a bow on the back of her head, amber eyes, and fair skin.

The woman in the middle had a well-endowed body, short yellow hair, a greenish tint, green eyes, and fair skin.

And the little girl, at the end, has long pink hair, blue eyes, and fair skin.

"Ugh, it's really--" Whatever the one with sea-green hair was about to say died in her throat when she saw Cain's appearance, and her entire face turned bright red. 'Oh god, he's hot!'

The others were similarly blushing when they saw the older man. Cain was amused by their expressions, while Kyoka and Honami were slightly annoyed.

"So these are the members who live here, huh?" He looked at the women subtly, checking them head to toe before looking at the little girl.

'I guess the ADC isn't concerned about age,' he thought bitterly.

It didn't take a genius to figure out Cain didn't like the concept of child soldiers, considering he was one himself, on top of also being a science experiment. At least he didn't find or sense any signs of psychological trauma in her, so that was a relief.

However, he was still pissed that a publicly known organization would drag little girls into their affairs.

"There are others, but they're currently out on business. Everyone, this is Cain Eliyahu Cruz. He'll be our caretaker, so treat him respectfully." Kyoka shot the sea-green-haired woman a knowing look, making the latter rub her head sheepishly. "After all, he's the man the ADC has been looking for," Kyoka added slyly, making the women except Honami and the little girl's eyes widen in shock, and their gazes snapped on Cain.

"THAT'S HIM?!" The two women exclaimed, pointing at the older man.

Kyoka had to hold back her laugh. "Indeed he is."

"No way..."

The little girl and Honami were confused about what Kyoka was talking about.

"Um, what's this about Cain being looked for by the ADC?" Honami questioned.

"Oh yes, I forgot you and Nei are new here. To keep it short, the head commander has expressed interest in meeting Cain due to his abilities and wishes to recruit him into the organization," Kyoka explained.

Homani nodded in understanding. "Ah, makes sense."

'Could the head commander possibly be that purple-haired woman from earlier?' Cain mentally asked himself when he listened to Kyoka's explanation.

He might be wrong, but the woman's aura screamed power, intelligence, and authority. He wouldn't be surprised if someone like her led the ADC. Guess he'll find out soon enough.

"You actually have powers! That's so cool!" Nei exclaimed, looking at Cain with stars in her eyes, making the older man smile.

'Cute.'

His mind then wandered elsewhere, and immediately, his expression became melancholic. It only lasted a microsecond before he returned to his original mirthful demeanor, but his smile was more reminiscent and somber than happy.

"How's that even possible, though?" The sea-green-haired woman asked Cain, narrowing her eyes at him. "You're not trans by any chance, are you?"

Cain quirked an eyebrow at her odd question, but he supposed it was a fair thing to ask, considering how common sex changes are in this day and age.

"Nope, I'm biologically a man," he confirmed.

"Then how do you have powers?!" She exclaimed, sounding irritated.

"That's a secret," he said playfully, making her groan.

After being relentlessly questioned by the women, they stopped courtesy of Kyoka and introduced themselves to Cain.

"I'm Himari Azuma, vice-captain of the 7th Unit. You better not forget it." She gave Cain a dirty look before looking away so he couldn't see her cheeks turning pink.

Unfortunately for her, he already saw it. 'Ah, another tsundere. They're always the most fun to tease,' Cain thought amusedly.

"Hi, I'm Shushu Suruga. Nice to meet ya!!"

"I'm Nei Ookawamura! Let's get along, Mr. Caretaker!"

"It's a pleasure to meet you all. I look forward to getting to know each of you," Cain said, smiling at them. "Huh, it's pretty late." He looked at the clock and saw it was nearly nine.

The silver-haired beauty looked at the clock.

"It seems so," Kyoka said.

"Have any of you eaten yet?" Cain asked. They shook their head at his question. "Well, I don't feel like cooking tonight, so how about I order some takeout?" he suggested.

"Sure, I wouldn't mind."

"Fine, but don't order anything unhealthy!"

"I know a good place you can order from!"

- 45 Minutes Later -

When the food arrived, everyone ate in the dining room. The girls used this time to learn more about Cain as they ate.

"So, Cruz, where are you from?" Himari asked.

Everyone looked at him curiously.

"Veracruz, Mexico," he answered after taking a bite and swallowing his food.

"That's a long way from home," Kyoka commented. "I've heard the Mexican branch of the ADC has difficulty keeping Shuuki out of the human world."

"Yeah, it's, unfortunately, true," Cain confirmed, having a subtle look of sadness on his features. "Mexico has always had a problem with handling Shuuki due to the corruption within the government, constant gang wars, and rogue Peach Users, leaving their military spread thin," he explained, earning looks of sympathy from the women.

Even with Eden aiding the Mexican Branch in keeping the monsters, albeit within the shadows, out of the human world and assisting them with their other issues, they still struggled to maintain the status quo.

"That's horrible," Honami commented, unable to imagine what it was like to grow up in such an environment.

Besides the occasional Shuuki attack, Japan was one of the safest countries (for women) to live in. Hearing Mexico's many problems, the women became more appreciative of how easy they got it compared to Cain.

"Is that why you came here?" Shushu asked.

Cain nodded. "Yeah, it was one of the reasons."

"If you don't mind me asking, what were the other reasons?"

The Latino thought about the blonde's question for a moment before answering.

"I made a lot of enemies," he revealed, surprising them.

"What do you mean by saying that you have enemies?" Himari's eyes narrowed. "Are you some sort of criminal?" She accused, surprising everyone except Cain.

"Himari!!" Kyoka shouted, glaring at the sea-green-haired woman who shrank under Chief's intense gaze.

She was about to reprimand her, but Cain cut her off.

"It's fine," Cain waved it off. "It's an understandable question to ask. And to answer your question, it depends on your perspective," he said, confusing everyone.

"What do you mean by that?" Questioned Kyoka.

"I'm a man with powers. My existence threatens the natural order," he stated, and everyone quickly understood what he was implying. "So yeah, I'm technically a criminal, and my crime is that I exist," he said with a melancholic expression, earning looks of sympathy and making Himari wince from her earlier accusation.

Everything Cain said was the truth, but he omitted a lot of details. He did have to resort to crimes like extortion, assassinations, and smuggling so that he could survive. After all, being on the run almost constantly made it difficult to earn a stable income through more legal means.

'Now I feel like a bitch,' Himari thought, feeling terrible for her behavior toward Cain.

"I'm sorry," Himari softly apologized to Cain, surprising the women.

"It's fine," he waved off her apology. "I'm not the type to take things personally," he said before taking a bite out of his food.

"Wow, she actually apologized! Talk about character development!" Shushu commented, causing a tick mark to form on Himari's head.

"What's that supposed to mean?!" The sea-green-haired beauty shouted, glaring at her friend.

"Oh, nothing," Shushu replied, smiling in faux innocence. "I'm just saying you're not exactly known for having the friendliest of personalities," she teased, making Himari growl.

The two began arguing, but it was quickly shut down by Kyoka, who released her killing intent and gave them a death glare, making them shut up real quickly.

"Caretaker, did you have a family back home?" Nei asked innocently.

Cain gave the girl a sad smile. "Yeah, I have a father and twenty-four half-brothers."

The women were surprised by how many siblings Cain had, which was understandable.

"Wow, your father was a busy man," Shushu commented wide-eyed, making Cain chuckle.

"That's one way of putting it," he agreed.

Cain always found it ironic that his father would scold him for being a pervert and sexual deviant, yet he's no better than him.

Fucking hypocrite.

"He must be a...very charming man," Kyoka commented, blushing slightly, remembering what happened not too long ago. 'A trait you no doubt inherited.'

"That and he was quite the looker," Cain added, smiling amusedly. "I'm pretty much a carbon copy of him, just younger with longer hair and four inches taller." The girls pictured what his father looked like, and they could understand why he had so many kids with so many different women.

"Do he and your brothers also have powers?" Shushu asked everyone the question they wanted to know, and what he said shocked them.

Cain nodded. "Yeah, they do. However, they're not as open about their abilities as I am."

Usually, his siblings were either at the facility or in Inframundo (their version of Mato). If they had to deal with missions related to the government or crime, Wukong and Mimic were given the tasks because of their clone and shape-shifting abilities. Only a few individuals were aware of their existence. For now, that is.

"Why, though?" Himari questioned, frowning. "With their powers, they could help their country."

"That's something I unfortunately don't know," Cain lied, giving her a sad smile. "But that's enough about me and my family. How about you lovely ladies tell me something about yourselves?" He asked, changing the subject.

Thankfully, they didn't push him for any more information about him.

Cain got to know each of the women, and by the time dinner was over and everyone went to bed, he was satisfied with everything he learned.

Now, all he had to do was build the foundations of a solid relationship with each of them. It wouldn't be too difficult to achieve, as none of them besides Himari showed any dislike toward men.

- A Few Hours Later -

"This will be your room." Kyoka opened the door, and inside the room were all the basics a person should have, such as a bed, desk, closet, and a single drawer.

Cain looked at Kyoka and smiled. "Thank you."

"Think nothing of it," the silver-haired beauty waved it off, smiling. "If there's anything you need, please let me know." Kyoka was about to walk away but felt Cain's hand gently grab hers, causing her to blush and look at the older man with a confused expression.

"Actually, there is something you can do for me," Cain said, giving Kyoka a look that made Kyoka's spine shiver in delight and dread.

Kyoka gulped. "A-And that is?"

Cain leaned toward her ear. "You could stay the night."

The Latino then pulled her into the room before she could say anything and closed the door.

End.
