Chapter 217 - Their magic wasn't this powerful before

Orsted wasn't surprised by the battle unfolding before him.

Though Lili and the others were only level 3, their strength, bolstered by various magic items, reached level 4.

With nearly ten melee adventurers and the magic bombardment from over a dozen mages, Amphisbaena's injuries kept mounting.

Elenior and the others lacked the exceptional talent of someone like Lefiya, who could achieve level 5 magic power at level 3.

With mage medals and items, their magic reached only level 4.

However, if over a dozen mages fused their magic, the combined power could hit the peak of level 6-7, potentially obliterating Amphisbaena in one strike.

Magic fusion was far more complex than concurrent chanting, unprecedented in Orario until the Hestia Familia achieved it.

It required absolute safety and no interruptions, since even slight disturbances could disrupt the fusion.

Hestia familia members with their strong coordination, had an 80% success rate.

This time, they fought individually, as fusion magic, while effective, wouldn't train fighters like Lili.

After receiving Lili's signal, Elenior and the mages ceased individual attacks and began casting fusion magic.

With Senie's esper ability binding the red head, Amphisbaena couldn't counter the magic.

The fusion magic overwhelmed it, engulfing the turbulent lake in a violent roar that shook the floor and deafened onlookers.

When the smoke cleared, a 100m wide gap scarred the lake, with water rushing to fill it.

"Such terrifying magic. It wasn't this strong before," Bors said, swallowing hard before turning to Orsted.

"Have all your mages ranked up?"

"They have," Orsted replied, not hiding it.

Hestia had reported their levels to the Guild, which issued a notice.

However, it stated everyone except Orsted was level 2.

"Haha, I knew it. Their magic wasn't this powerful before," Bors said with a dry laugh.

Orsted ignored him.

His accelerated heartbeat had returned to normal.

What happened?

"What's wrong?" Ryuu asked, noticing his expression with concern.

Orsted opened his mouth to mention his heartbeat, but a deafening explosion, louder than their previous attack, erupted from all directions.

The ground shook violently, making everyone stumble.

Those present were no ordinary adventurers and quickly stabilized.

"What happened?" Bors shouted, his voice barely audible over the ongoing blasts.

Stones of varying sizes fell from the ceiling as the explosions continued for five minutes. Everyone dodged or shattered the debris.

When the blasts stopped, Lili rubbed her buzzing ears and approached Orsted, looking a bit confused.

"What was that?"

Others, also rubbing their ears, gathered around him.

"Likely Rudra Familia," Ryuu said through gritted teeth.

The explosion's intensity reminded her of five years ago, when their traps triggered juggernaut.

Without Bors mentioning their remnants, she wouldn't have connected it, but now it was clear.

"Is that so?"

Lili nodded and was about to speak, but Orsted cut in.

"Lili, stay here. Ryuu and I will be back soon," he said, his expression turning serious.

He grabbed Ryuu's hand and vanished.

"Huh? Why'd Orsted take that elf?"

"Lord Orsted has important business," Lili said calmly, as did the others.

Before the expedition, he had warned them he might briefly leave with Ryuu.

His foresight made his sudden departure unsurprising.

But a deafening roar interrupted them.

"This!!!"
