As the trio neared the town entrance, Misty suddenly spotted the wide river cutting through the area.
"Hey! There's a big river here—if Squirtle's around, maybe there are other Water-types too!"
Excited by the possibility, Misty bounced in place.
"Kazuki, can you go buy my supplies for me? I'm gonna check out the riverside and see if I can catch a new Water-type!"
"Pika~ pi!"
Pikachu's eyes sparkled as it saw the soft grass along the riverbank.
"You wanna go play with Misty, Pikachu?"
Since Pikachu disliked being in its Poké Ball, and Kazuki was planning to work on progressing things with Officer Jenny, he let Pikachu run off to enjoy the field.
"Keep up, Pikachu! Watch me show you how awesome I am at catching Pokémon! I'm not any worse than Kazuki!" Misty grinned, still determined to one-up him.
"Your friend's got great energy!" Officer Jenny said with a warm smile. "I used to be like that back in the day too."
"Oh? Officer Jenny, aren't you still young and full of energy? You're looking stunning today."
As soon as Pikachu was out of sight, Kazuki's flirt engine kicked into full gear.
"Oho~ Kazuki, you're awfully smooth! Sounds like you're trying to sweet-talk me! But… I'm flattered!"
Thanks to his rising Justice Reputation, Jenny's affection toward Kazuki skyrocketed.
"Well, to clear my name from those baseless accusations, let me get specific—let me tell you exactly what makes you so beautiful."
Kazuki's silver tongue had Officer Jenny laughing nonstop the entire way.
"You're really something, Kazuki! Alright then—I'm just about to finish my shift. How about I take you shopping myself?"
"Sounds great! I'm sure your recommendations will be top-notch!"
Kazuki was eager to see how far his current reputation level could take things with Jenny.
"Alright! Come on in while I change. I'll be quick!"
Officer Jenny happily led Kazuki into her break room.
Clearly, she no longer saw him as just a stranger.
She pulled a sheer curtain across and began changing right behind it.
Kazuki sat just outside—and from the opening below the curtain, he could clearly see her slender, creamy legs as she slipped off her nude-toned stockings.
The curtain itself did little to obscure her shapely silhouette—curves that could kill, tapering waist, generous up top.
A moment later, she stepped out in flat heels—wearing a crop top and ultra-short denim shorts.
Those legs? Deadly. That waist? Murderous. Kazuki barely managed to hold back a nosebleed.
"Well? Kazuki, do I look full of energy or what?"
"Officer Jenny, you… have an incredible figure," Kazuki gave a firm thumbs-up, visibly impressed. It was the first time he'd seen her out of uniform—and the urge to win her over surged stronger than ever.
"Hmph, I said look at the outfit, not my body!" Jenny teased, twisting her ankle slightly and glancing at her own pale thighs. "But thanks for the compliment anyway!"
"Come on! Let's go shopping!"
While they browsed the market together, Kazuki skillfully escalated the chemistry.
At this stage, they could now enjoy casual touches—like the occasional brush of hands or shoulders—but they were still a ways off from true intimacy.
Today was just recon—gauging her affection level.
After they finished most of the shopping, a sudden scream erupted from the crowd.
People scattered in all directions, as if fleeing from something.
Kazuki squinted toward the commotion—and caught a flash of yellow.
Two steps closer and he saw Pikachu leap into his arms.
"Pikachu?"
"Pika pika pika pika pika pika!!"
Pikachu babbled frantically, too fast for anyone else to follow.
Luckily, Kazuki was both Pikachu's Trainer and had the Aura Power boost—he caught every word.
"You're saying Misty was attacked by the Squirtle Squad near the river? She was using Staryu to fight them—and they captured Staryu?!"
"Where's Misty now?"
"Pika pika!"
"She went after Staryu—and told you to come get me?"
"Kidnapping? That can't be right!" Officer Jenny was shocked when Kazuki relayed the situation.
"The Squirtle Squad may pull pranks, but they wouldn't go so far as to commit actual crimes!"
"They must be under someone's influence. Pikachu, lead the way!"
"Hold on! I can't allow something like this to happen in my town!" Jenny clenched her fist with resolve and sprinted back to the station.
"Kazuki! I'll meet you outside town—I'm grabbing my bike!"
"Got it! Pikachu, let's go!"
With that, Kazuki dashed after Pikachu toward the outskirts of town.
Midway there, Officer Jenny caught up on her motorcycle.
They locked eyes—instantly syncing up.
She slowed slightly, and Kazuki leapt smoothly onto the back of the bike.
Once he was steady, Jenny revved the engine, and together they raced off in the direction Pikachu pointed—chasing after Misty and the Squirtle Squad.
