Chapter 236 - Chapter 236: Mordo

Yamanaka Shinno glanced at his [Primordial World Sovereign] trait, then casually activated both [Virginity Seal Specialist] and [Cupid the Jerk].

[Primordial World Sovereign] allowed him to absorb the majority of laws and concepts, granting dominion over most abilities, regardless of the world or power system they originated from.

While those two traits always gave off a rather... sleazy vibe, they weren't completely useless.

The Virginity Seal restriction wasn't recorded in the Naruto world's sealing arts, nor even in Kamar-Taj's archives.

As for [Cupid the Jerk], though its effects were a little ridiculous, short-lived, and only effective on people already in a relationship, it clearly touched on some form of conceptual power.

And concepts—no matter how small a fragment—were valuable.

He activated both traits at once.

In the blink of an eye, all the associated information and usage methods flooded into Shinno's mind, completely mastered.

Then the system prompt chimed again:

[Green trait "Virginity Seal Specialist" and purple trait "Cupid the Jerk" detected. They can be merged into the Rainbow trait "Primordial World Sovereign." Merge now?]

"Go ahead."

Shinno had been expecting that prompt the moment he saw the word "merge."

Within seconds, the two traits were completely absorbed into [Primordial World Sovereign], and their effects were significantly enhanced by the realm's power.

The Virginity Seal restriction could now be drawn with a simple gesture, thanks to Shinno's current mastery of energy and spiritual force.

He could even brand someone from a distance.

As for [Cupid the Jerk], it truly did involve conceptual domains—specifically, two of them:

Love and Conflict.

Even just grazing the surface of those concepts meant a massive boost in power. This wasn't something regular techniques could match.

"Not bad. Not bad at all."

Shinno leaned back lazily in his rocking chair.

Beside him, Clare continued reporting recent developments, blissfully unaware.

"A day and a half ago, the Miroku retrieved five divine statues. She plans to distribute them to Yūhi Kurenai… Miss Kanae retrieved two, to be given to Shinobu Kocho and Kagaya Ubuyashiki. That covers everything that happened these past few days."

She'd done a thorough job reporting everything in detail.

Clare looked at him a little nervously.

"You organized it well. From now on, I'm putting you in charge of all this."

Shinno smiled, gently patting her on the head without holding back his praise.

Classic kid-handling tactics.

He'd already perfected them while training Yūhi Kurenai and the others.

"Yes, my lord!"

Clare clutched her notebook—covered in more symbolic doodles than actual text—eyes sparkling.

"My lord, I'll be ready to join battle in about three days."

Teresa approached and stood by Shinno's side.

"...I'll assign you a long-term mission."

Shinno didn't shoot her down.

Even though, based on his senses, she probably still needed at least a full week before she'd fully integrated the cells within her body, he could sense her confusion and restlessness.

"Please give your command."

Teresa brought her fist to her chest, offering a salute, a faint smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

After more than a decade as a Claymore, she was used to receiving and executing orders, fighting yoma and awakened beings alike...

But this passive life of being given gifts and waiting for her body to adapt—without clear purpose—left her unmoored.

"These two interdimensional portals—any accidental intruders, send them back. For those who arrive intentionally, you and Clare will be responsible for reception and documentation. If they come with malicious intent, or if they're dangerous beings, eliminate them."

Shinno gestured toward the portals connecting to the Claymore world and the Demon Slayer world.

"Yes, sir."

Teresa gave a respectful bow.

"Get some rest. These portals are only going to increase, and your job won't get any easier."

Shinno stood from the rocking chair.

He glanced at her legs—already much thinner than before and steadily returning to their original form.

He made a mental note to eventually get her a set of angelic armor.

Nothing too flashy.

Golden hair, silver eyes, angelic armor… elegant and fierce.

...

He left the teapot realm and reappeared in an empty alleyway in Las Vegas.

With a wave of his hand, he used Yomotsu Hirasaka to open a spatial gate, returning straight to the snowy mountain peak.

Standing on the edge of a towering cliff, Shinno let his spiritual energy—now in a divine state—spread out in all directions. Once he pinpointed the location of Kamar-Taj, he summoned a sling ring—a perfect replica of the one he'd copied from the Ancient One—onto his index and middle fingers.

Despite its versatility, the sling ring was a relatively low-grade artifact.

Otherwise, every Kamar-Taj sorcerer wouldn't have one.

With a graceful semicircular motion, a swirling portal formed under his fingers, opening directly into the courtyard of Kamar-Taj.

Kamar-Taj was protected by powerful magic wards.

If he had opened a spatial rift right inside one of the sanctums, it would've triggered alarms instantly.

He wasn't here to cause a scene—just to meet with the sorcerers.

The noon air in Kamar-Taj was peaceful and serene.

The morning's spell practice had ended, and after lunch, the sorcerers were either meditating, resting, or reading magical texts in shaded corners and quiet rooms.

...

Shinno's arrival barely registered with anyone.

He strolled through the ancient monastery, its architecture resembling Tibetan temples, weathered and timeless.

With hands in his pockets, he wandered like a tourist, observing the sorcerers lost in their magical pursuits.

"Hey—Sorcerer, what are you doing? I don't think I've seen you before."

Mordo stepped out from the library, a magic book in hand.

He saw Shinno crouched beneath a centuries-old ginkgo tree, one hand on the ground as magical energy gathered at his fingertips, casting some unknown spell. Mordo frowned.

Blond hair, a crisp black shirt and slacks, strikingly handsome features...

Mordo was certain he hadn't met this man before.

If it weren't for the clear magical energy at his fingertips, he would've thought this was some city tourist who'd wandered into Kamar-Taj by mistake.

"This ginkgo tree is beautiful. It would be a shame if it died, don't you think?"

Shinno slowly drew back his Wood Release energy, rich with life force, and stood to face the speaker—Mordo, the Ancient One's top disciple.

He subtly revealed the Eye of Agamotto beneath his shirt.

"...Sorcerer Supreme? Shinno?"

"Don't I look the part?"

"You, uh... you seem very young."

Mordo's mouth opened and closed, unsure how to respond to the man's warm smile.

His master, the Ancient One, had described this individual as someone whose power rivaled the dimensional gods—a being beyond comprehension.

Naturally, he'd imagined someone with white hair and flowing robes. Not this...

This was way too dissonant.

"When you push the limits of magic toward chaos, a youthful body and eternal life are just side effects."

Shinno chuckled softly, offering no real age.

After all, most of Kamar-Taj's sorcerers were in their sixties or seventies. Showing up looking too young could cause unnecessary trouble.

"...You actually achieved it?"

Mordo swallowed hard.

As the Ancient One's disciple, he understood what those words truly meant.

And that understanding only made him realize how terrifying this "young man" truly was.

"Mm. And by the way—so did the Ancient One. But because of her pact with Eternity, she had to leave this place."

Shinno nodded, giving a simple explanation of her situation.

In the film universe, Mordo had viewed the Ancient One as a moral pillar. Learning she drew from the Dark Dimension shattered his faith and drove him to villainy.

But this version of Mordo was still, more or less... a good person?

"Incredible... No—I mean, you and my teacher are both truly great sorcerers."

Mordo quickly corrected himself, trying not to trip over his own words.
