Axel could only offer a subtle smile in response to his father's resounding laughter, filled with pride. He slowly retracted the runic eyes. Everyone looked at the phenomenon with astonished gazes.
Vargas commented with a cough, "Young lord, if you had shown your mystical runic eye first, I would not have underestimated you then."
Axel chuckled, "Where's the fun in that. You should be able to bear at least this much for all the dog-like beating you gave me before I went to the academy?"
The eyes of the butler twitched in annoyance, and a mocking laughter came from William, "Muahahahaha, it was really a spectacle to see you get so humbled in combat, and in such a one-sided manner. I could barely contain my laughter."
The usually stoic Lex came close, putting a hand on the injured butler, and stated in a sagely manner,
"One must know defeat to appreciate the small victories in life."
