Dante's POV.
I don't understand why that crazy guy called me here. He just told me the city and that he was going to be here; I call him, and he doesn't answer. It makes me angry; on top of that, it's nighttime, and I don't know where to go.
As I walked down the street, I tried to contact the incompetent guy.
The atmosphere felt strange, like something wasn't right.
As I walked around, I smelled blood, which made me stop for a moment. I sensed where the smell was strongest and followed it.
Suddenly, I saw the place filled with blood, a battle scene. Something had happened here.
As I walked, I heard a sob, and it was a peculiar one, a woman's. There was a woman crying.
I moved stealthily; this world was strange, and there were beings that could cause me trouble, and certain situations were very complicated, so it was better to be safe than sorry.
Finally, I arrived at the subway station; the place was covered in blood, and there was a dismembered, weeping creature.
Upon seeing it, I immediately recognized what it was. A vampire.
During these three years in this world, I had encountered several vampires, but never one like this.
There was someone else here, but no one special; I could sense it with my Observation Haki.
At that moment, the guest arrived. A young man, underage, with unwavering determination.
I used my foresight ability, and I didn't like what was happening.
Honestly, I don't like it when kids get involved in these kinds of situations; it bothers me. So I decided to move before he did whatever stupid thing he was about to do.
"No, no, and no." I didn't let the young woman speak.
I watched as their eyes flicked from one to the other, then back to me.
"You're too young to be getting involved in this kind of thing, especially what you're about to do. You're willing to die, but what will happen is you'll become a vampire."
"You... How do you know?" he said doubtfully; all the composure he'd possessed vanished in an instant when he saw me.
"Easy, because I saw it," I said, pointing to my eyes. "After all, just like her, they also consider me an oddity."
I reached him and patted his shoulder, making him relax a little more.
"Let the adults handle these things." And I turned my gaze to the vampire.
"What are you going to do with her?" he asked hesitantly.
"Help her, of course, in exchange for something, that's for sure," I said, walking over to the vampire.
I stood before her. We looked at each other. The young man still hadn't left.
"What are you?" the woman asked.
I just looked into her eyes; I could see her panic and fear, fear of dying, but there was a deeper fear inside her, stronger than the fear of death.
I closed my eyes and snapped my fingers, transforming into my hybrid form. Dark black wings sprouted from my back.
"Does that answer your question?"
Neither of us responded; the place fell silent.
A long time ago, when I first arrived in this universe, I encountered a particularly powerful yokai; it tried to devour me to become stronger. It failed, and as a result, the city was 40% destroyed.
After that, three individuals were sent to deal with me. To be honest, if it weren't for my sense of danger and my foresight, I would have died.
These three individuals are the most unscrupulous and dishonorable beings I've ever seen; they had more dirty tricks than Blackbeard. It was awful, like they pulled something from a magic bag that benefited them and harmed me.
In the end, I won, but that doesn't change the fact that it was the most frustrating encounter of my life.
I stared at the woman standing there.
"I have a way to save you, or at least keep you alive," I said, looking into her eyes. "I'll save you, but in return, you have to tell me in detail how all this happened."
"Fine," she said in a pitiful voice; honestly, it's heartbreaking to see her like this.
"It's a promise," I said, summoning the Fusion Sword.
The sword's sudden appearance startled us both. I pressed a button, and the weapon disassembled into seven blades.
At that moment, I logged into the system and purchased a very expensive but very special item, a Herminatene Seed; it can heal any physical wound, not to mention restore energy, but this was an eccentricity, more specifically a vampire. It takes a little more than that to save someone. It needs blood.
I approached her mouth and forced the seed into it.
"Eat it," I told her, so my 1,000,000,000,000 PL wouldn't go to waste. I still don't understand how a single seed can be so expensive.
She swallowed it; I saw it regenerate, but slowly. This is because it was empty and hollow, it had nothing in it, and there was only one way to fill it.
I took out the shortest sword I had and cut my veins. I placed my arm directly under the vampire's head; that way the blood would fall straight into her mouth, preventing her from turning me into a vampire.
During all this time, I had developed a high pain tolerance, so this didn't bother me much.
After a few more minutes, I stopped giving her blood, took some bandages I had, and covered my arm. I wouldn't die from this, but if I kept losing blood, maybe.
"Stay here. I sense someone else nearby, so while you finish healing, I'll take this brat somewhere safe."
She just nodded at what I said while looking at me.
And so I left.
Once I was out of her sight, I glanced around the building.
"You have something to do with all this, don't you, Meme?"
The young man became agitated, looking around.
"You know me so well, Dante-kun, but it hurts that you think of me that way." A man's voice rang out; at that moment, a blond man in a Hawaiian shirt emerged from the darkness.
"You're full of energy. Did something good happen to you?" he said, making his presence known.
"Something like that. I imagine that's why you called me." I said, looking at where the vampire had been.
"Something like that," he said, lighting his cigarette. "I called you to take care of her, but someone beat me to it."
"I imagine the reason they didn't finish her off has something to do with you," I told him.
"What do you think?" he replied.
I just sighed.
"And what did you want me to do with her, kill her?" I asked him.
"I'm just keeping an eye on things; I asked you to take care of her, not kill her; you can take it however you want."
I sighed again.
I imagine that more than killing her, he wants me to keep her under control, but there must be a reason.
"Fine, I'll see what I can do about her; meanwhile, you take care of the kid," I said as I pushed the young man toward Oshino.
"Okay, I can do this," he said, taking the young man's shoulder. The young man didn't understand anything that was happening around him. "The guys who did that to her are still out there, so you have to hide," he said, pointing to a spot. "There's an abandoned school over there that I put up a barrier around; you'll be safe there for now," and with that, he left with the kid.
I just watched them go.
This man usually doesn't act; he only moves when the balance is disrupted. But all things considered, he's the one with the most morals of that little group of three.
I turned around to go back to where the vampire was.
When I got there, I saw a girl who looked about 7 or 8 years old. If I didn't know she was a vampire, I might think she was one of my illegitimate daughters.
"So, how are you feeling?" I asked her. That caught her attention.
"I feel pretty amazing; with that object and your blood, I was able to completely replenish all my energy," she said, looking me in the eyes. "But since they took my limbs, my energy reserves are much smaller than they used to be; for now, I can only take this form."
"Okay, let's get out of here. I know a safer place to rest and talk."
She just nodded at my suggestion.
I turned around, squatted down, and waited.
The little girl climbed onto my back so I could carry her.
Once there, I got up, and we both went to the abandoned school Oshino had mentioned.
As we walked, she started talking to me.
"Your blood is delicious, the most delicious I've ever tasted. How about you become my subordinate so I can drink your blood without limit?"
"No, thank you, I'll pass. I have no desire to be your subordinate or a vampire; if that were the case, I would have let you bite me," I replied to the vampire.
"Hmm, that's a shame, but honestly, I have no idea if I could turn a fallen angel like you into a subordinate."
Exactly. In this world, I'm considered a fallen angel, just as this girl is a vampire.
"I don't think you can; that's more related to humans. When I arrived here, I stopped being one."
"Hmm," she thought for a moment; she looked rather adorable, as she reminded me of my own daughters. "I think we have more in common than you realize. Tell me, Angel, what's your name?"
"Dante," I replied.
"Just Dante?" she asked again.
"Dante Manmayer, although I almost never use my last name."
"That's a very human name, at least compared to mine." She spoke.
"So what's your name then?" I asked her.
"My name is Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade, but you can call me Heart-Under-Blade," she said cheerfully, clutching her chest with one palm.
"No, that's too long. I'll call you Kiss-Shot instead," I retorted.
"How dare you?" she exclaimed, shaking my head for a few seconds. "It doesn't matter; you can, only because you saved me."
"Yeah, yeah, sure," I said, ignoring her arrogance as we drew closer to the abandoned school.
-----------------------------------------------------------
It's worth noting that I've already done my research on the series, vampiric powers, and all that. But to make what I want to do work, I'll be changing some things about the canon.
This is so you don't say, "No, that's not how these things work," or "That shouldn't be possible." But again, I've done my research, and in my opinion, there are some things that never happen in the series that, to me, could happen and be completely canon, at least from my perspective.
I should also add that this was supposed to be one chapter, but it ended up being very long, so I'm splitting it into two. But in return, after this, I'll jump straight into the Fate arc.
With nothing more to add, I hope you enjoyed the chapter.
