Chapter 2 - unwritten

The sun rose over three different lands, painting the sky with the soft golden hue of a world too peaceful to be real.

For the three boys — now infants in noble households — life had restarted. New names. New homes. New families. But something about it all still felt like a dream that could fade at any moment.

And yet… it was real. Every sunrise. Every heartbeat. Every strange burst of light they couldn't explain.

Mike – Hero Clan Territory

"Mike, slow down!"

Star's tiny feet pattered against the marble floor as she tried to catch up to her older brother. Her fluffy white pajamas were slipping off her shoulder as she dragged a wooden toy behind her.

Mike turned back, grinning, "You said you wanted to race!"

They were only five. Star had magic already. Mike had nothing. But he didn't care.

Their house was a fortress of silence and heavy footsteps. Their father rarely spoke unless it was a command, and the halls always felt too cold — even in summer. But when Star was around, the chill vanished. She would tug on his sleeve during dinner. Hug him from behind when he stared out the window too long. Sneak into his room when the thunder got loud.

"You're the best brother in the world," she whispered once under the blankets.

And Mike didn't answer. He just hugged her tighter. No magic. No power. But to her, he was enough.

Until one day, he overheard their father whispering to a man in black.

"…He's a failure. Get rid of him quietly."

Mike froze behind the staircase.

That night, he stayed awake watching Star sleep. Her tiny hand wrapped around his finger. His heartbeat echoed in his chest louder than it should have.

He couldn't cry. Not here. Not again.

But she was the reason he stayed.

AO – Sheen Family Manor

AO sat perfectly still in his chair, posture straight, eyes forward. The walls around him were made of polished stone and hung with magical scrolls. His older brother — Caden — stood nearby, arms crossed.

"Again," Caden said. "Channel it. Properly this time."

AO focused on the glowing orb before him. Nothing.

Again.

Still nothing.

Caden sighed and turned away. "You're wasting your bloodline."

Later that day, when no one was watching, AO crept down the halls into the courtyard. There was a hidden garden with tiny blue flowers that only bloomed when the moonlight hit them.

He would go there when the house felt too tight. Too cold. Too full of expectations.

No one played with him. Servants bowed, then walked off. His parents didn't ask how he was doing. They only asked what he could do.

He couldn't. Not yet.

So he sat under the flowers, looked at the stars, and smiled for no one.

He missed his old friends. He didn't know why. He didn't even know if they were still alive in this world.

But then, one day, a letter came by bird. No words. Just a smiley face and the name "Jay."

He laughed for the first time in weeks.

Jay – Aishan Territory

Jay darted through the backyard fields, dragging Anne by the hand. She was giggling uncontrollably, her scarf flapping in the wind.

"Come on, you turtle!" he shouted, tripping over a stone and laughing with her.

Anne was younger, but quick. She loved picking fireflowers and watching Jay try (and fail) to summon flames with his bare hands.

"You're just broken," she teased

Jay smirked. "I'm not broken. I'm saving my powers for something cool."

But he knew the truth. He had nothing.

Back in the main house, his older brother — Ryden — barely looked at him. Always in training. Always focused. Their father praised Ryden. Ignored Jay.

It stung. But Anne always brought him back.

Some nights, Jay would sneak into the rooftop balcony and stare at the stars. He didn't know why they made him feel like crying.

Once, Anne climbed up beside him with cookies. "You okay?"

Jay nodded. "Yeah… I'm just thinking about stuff."

He didn't tell her he was scared. That sometimes he woke up with tears on his cheeks and didn't know why.

But when she leaned her head on his shoulder, it didn't matter.

He wasn't alone anymore.

The Trio – Liberty Grounds (Age 12)

Years passed. And finally, the three boys met again.

In the city of Liberty — where magic was tested, ranked, and revealed.

Mike. AO. Jay.

The moment their eyes met, they knew. Not by memory. Not by faces. But by soul.

"Bro?"

"No way…"

"You're here too?"

They didn't cry. They didn't need to. A long silence passed, then they all burst out laughing. A moment the world didn't deserve to hear.

But when it came time to touch the globe of fate, their hearts beat loud.

AO touched it first.

Nothing.

Jay stepped up.

Nothing.

Mike placed his hand down, Star watching from the sidelines, gripping her mother's hand.

Nothing.

Whispers filled the room.

"Failures."

"No magic?"

"Nobles with no blessing?"

They didn't care. Not really. Because for the first time in their lives…

They weren't alone.

And maybe that was enough.
