More and more goblins of different kinds started flooding out of the chamber and into the tunnel. Xavier continued firing his weapon, trying to save as much ammo as possible as did Mickey. Maria fired her arrows, taking out a few of them, but the others didn't possess any long range weaponry, and it would be suicide to charge in. Also, after realizing that the barrage of bullets was killing their brethren, the goblin warriors came into the tunnel with rectangular copper shields that covered their entire body. They blocked both bullets and arrows, making the battle even more dire.
"I'm out." Mickey said, as he ran out of ammo and Xavier gritted his teeth in pure rage.
"I-I'm out as well." Maria said as she ran out of arrows and everyone could have sworn they heard Xavier grinding his teeth over the sound of gunshots The goblin warriors with shields advanced slowly, and Xavier tried aiming through the gaps between in the shield wall, with little success. What made the situation even worse was the fact that the archers were shooting arrows over head, forcing them to retreat to keep out of range. Xavier soon ran out of ammo as well, and an arrow grazed his shoulder. He took his daggers which were stuck in the ground, and charged forward.
"Xavier wait!!!" Mickey shouted, but Xavier didn't stop and he used his strength and momentum he built up to kick one of the copper shields. The goblin warrior holding the shield was pushed back, and fell to the ground, exposing the goblin scouts, warriors and archers, who immediately took aim at him, beyond the shield wall. Xavier threw both his daggers at two archers, before jumping into the air, clinging to the ceiling that four meters above ground and kicked off towards the back of the horde, crashing into a goblin scout. Both of them rolled across the ground, knocking over a table before coming to a stop. Xavier wrapped his hands around the scout's neck, before breaking it. He grabbed the dagger from the scout's waist, and he could hear the sound of fighting at the front of the horde, and he simply snorted. He looked around, and he could see a shouting goblin with rippling muscles and sweat covering it's body, with the words Goblin Craftsman E- above it's head.
The craftsman swung it's crudely made copper battleaxe towards him, but Xavier wasn't even fazed. He sidestepped the battleaxe before slashing his dagger at the craftsman throat. A few archers and scouts turned around, charging towards him, and he simply threw his dagger, cutting the bow string of one of archer's bow, before he took up the battleaxe. The weapon was heavy, causing his veins to bulge, and his muscles to tense, but he didn't pay attention to that as he swung the battleaxe, cleaving through limbs, necks and leaving nasty wounds as he made his way through the goblins that rushed at him. The archers fired desperately, but even while carrying the heavy battleaxe, Xavier was still pretty fast and he used the other goblins as body shields to take the arrows.
The remaining goblins were terrified of Xavier, as he was bathe in the blood of their kin and even with an arrow sticking out of his thighs, he hasn't slowed down for even a second. They soon found themselves backing away from him as he slowly advanced towards them, but they had nowhere to run. His party members were wreaking havoc on the frontline of their horde and Xavier was right infront of them, the only thing they could do was fight....and hope.
"Haaaahaaahaaah." Xavier panted as he released the battleaxe which was stuck in the wall, with the headless corpse of a goblin archer sliding to the ground, with the head of on top of the axe. Xavier sat on a chair, and looked at the table with human remains on it with disgust in his eyes, before he kicked it over and hoisted his feet on the overturned table.
"Holy shit." Barry said as he saw over a dozen corpses that were cleaved apart by Xavier. All of them had work together to deal with the other thirty or so goblins, while Xavier handled over a dozen by himself. He was starting to understand why Tsubasa was so hesitant to cross him.
"Happy, we managed to save a pile of useless human remains." Xavier said while glaring at his party members.
"Aren't you overreacting a bit?" Rosie asked with a frown and Xavier laughed
"Am I? We have no idea just how big this dungeon is? We have no idea how many monsters are inside? We have no idea if there are any E+ monsters inside here, you know, the ones that can use magic? And we have no idea how strong the boss is? And we have no idea what powers they possess? These guns were supposed to be our trump card, but now that plan has gone to shit." He said, throwing the gun that was still slung over his shoulder angrily, making Maria flinch
"A-and what would have been your plan to take care of this many goblins huh?" Bella said, trying to defend Maria, but she was a bit afraid of Xavier right now, while he was furious and covered in blood.
"Well, that's what planning is for. And if I had to guess, it would have been something on the line of me distracting them, and you guys sneaking behind them to kill as many as possible before they realize you are even there." Xavier said in a condescending tone while glaring at her, making her flinch.
"Okay, what Maria did was stupid, we get it. But what do we do now?" Tsubasa asked
"Well, we have to continue after we harvest the monster stones out of these guys. We need whatever is inside those"Boss Chests"if we want to deal with the Warden and his posse of magic goons." Xavier said
"Ok, what's all this crap about magic?" Celine asked
"Oh, didn't you hear, the Warden can mind control people now and a few of the guards can shoot glowing bullets and lasers out of their guns. And there are monsters that can shoot fireballs from their hands to the West." Xavier said casually as he carved out the monster stone from one of the dead monsters.
