Sasori looked up and tried hard to think, his mind racing.
"Where he might have gone..."
He and Deidara didn't have that much contact left. If you really had to talk about it.
Deidara had talked to him about getting more clay after finishing with the One-Tail.
"Every kind of clay feels different."
"Some clay is good for sending Chakra, some isn't."
"And some will react differently with Chakra, anyway, I'm looking for better clay, yeah!"
Deidara had said this to him before.
Sasori was oiling the joints of the puppets at the time to keep them flexible,~and aggressive.
Deidara was talking excitedly next to him, and he just answered with a few agreement sounds.
"Oh, I see."
Clay can be used on puppets, like pottery made from clay, and placed on the puppets.
Chiyo had taught Sasori this before, but he rarely used it.
Because using clay pottery on puppets requires high Chakra transfer.
Most clay isn't good enough, even the kind of clay Deidara often uses will cause problems with transfer when placed on puppets.
When Deidara uses clay to make explosions, the explosions aren't very big, or it takes too long to inject Chakra.
The basic effect isn't too much of a problem.
But it's different if you put it on a puppet. If it's not right, the puppet will move slowly.
Simply put, it causes a delay.
It's no small thing for a puppet controlled by a puppeteer to have a delay.
Sometimes it can affect matters of life and death for them.
"Hey--really, Sasori, are you listening to me?"
Deidara held out a hand in front of Sasori, the mouth in his palm stuck out its tongue, looking like it was making a face at him.
Sasori didn't even look up and used the back of the oil brush he was holding to dismissively poke Deidara's hand away.
Then, Sasori said a name from his memory to Deidara.
"The Land of Pottery."
"Next to the Land of Rivers, at the border of the Land of Wind and the Land of Fire."
That place was near the Land of Rivers. Sasori had gone there with Chiyo when he was little.
A common trait of puppeteers is that when they see something useful, they want to put it on a puppet.
Chiyo was like that, and so was Sasori.
It's just that Chiyo would study more different things, while Sasori mostly studied various poisons.
"Oh, cool--that's near your hometown!"
"Take me to see it sometime! Yeah!"
Deidara said enthusiastically.
Sasori may have different artistic tastes than him, but he knows a lot about this kind of stuff.
And the fact that Sasori said the clay was good made him feel really excited.
"Okay, let's prepare to deal with the One-Tail first."
Sasori waved his hand dismissively and sent Deidara away casually.
Well, you never know which will come first in a life on the edge of a knife, accidents or tomorrow.
Even though they agreed on that at the time, Sasori 'died' in the recapture of the One-Tail soon after.
Hatake Satoru had a small pile of chestnut shells next to him, clearly he hadn't stopped eating while he was talking.
It looked like he was going to finish all the snacks he hadn't eaten recently at once.
"Is there still a place like that around here?"
"Then let's go take a look. It's not like you've been dead for that long, right?"
"Deidara probably hasn't been there yet."
Being in the Land of Wind all the time isn't much fun, it wouldn't hurt to travel to the surrounding countries.
Deidara hasn't gone there not only because Sasori hasn't been dead for that long.
Another more reliable reason is that there haven't been any big rumors coming from the Land of Pottery.
People wearing black and red cloud robes and bamboo hats are basically wanted criminals now.
If Deidara had gone there, the Land of Pottery would probably ask for help or release the information.
They don't know much about that country in the news right now.
Hatake Satoru thought about it and nodded decisively, throwing a chestnut into his mouth and then clapping his hands.
Even though it's true that he hasn't been dead for that long, it sounds so weird when you say it like that...
Sasori couldn't help but grumble to himself about Hatake Satoru's words.
"It's just a place that makes all kinds of ceramics."
"That country isn't big, and the whole country runs on making and selling ceramics."
"They didn't do too well during the war, but now that there's no fighting, they should be doing well, right?"
Sasori thought about it and pulled over a plate of cake that didn't look too fancy and started eating.
Even though Hatake Satoru said Sasori's body could eat now, it felt very empty, like he was just chewing things.
He still didn't have any sense of touch, taste, pain, or anything like that.
Although he gradually killed himself to get rid of these 'useless' feelings and turned himself into a puppet.
That subtle feeling of emptiness...
It had never been there before.
Sasori raised his eyes slightly and looked at Hatake Satoru, who was thinking while poking at his food with a fork.
It's all this guy's fault for eating in front of me all the time.
Hatake Satoru was wearing sunglasses, so you could see his eyes, but you couldn't tell what he was feeling.
"Well, I'll decide when, but it shouldn't be too long."
"You have to act the part then~"
Hatake Satoru put down his fork and stood up from his chair, leaning over and putting his face closer to Sasori.
"Oh...you just want me to be like a ghost, right?"
"I know."
Sasori awkwardly turned his head away to put some distance between himself and Hatake Satoru.
"Alright!"
Hatake Satoru stood up straight, put his hands together, and walked out the door smoothly.
Sasori sighed a little strangely, then couldn't help but look at Hatake Satoru's back a few more times.
This guy is pretty well prepared... asking so many questions.
Even though he usually seems unreliable, he really does a good job when he wants to do something.
Sasori nodded thoughtfully, feeling like he had been too one-sided in his perception of Hatake Satoru before.
Just as Sasori was silently praising Hatake Satoru in his heart, he heard that person's frivolous mutter coming from outside the door.
"Hmm~ what good stuff should I bring to play with~".
The voice wasn't loud, but it was extremely damaging. Sasori had been about to start putting away all the plates that Hatake Satoru had made.
He reached out and then clenched his hand into a fist again.
I shouldn't have believed this guy had a reliable side.
