"Shawn and Leo, please take good care of your wives during the trip. Don't worry about Kayden and Kayla. We'll take care of them at home," Christine said.
Kayla pursed her lips, reluctant to let go. "Great- grandma, can't Kayden and I go together? We've never been apart from Mommy for so long before."
She was afraid she would cry when she missed Zoey.
"Kayla, don't you like spending time with great-grandpa and me?"
Christine waved Kayla over. "The two of us had little time with you two since our reunion. We thought we could make it up when your parents go on vacation."
Kayla walked over. Even as she leaned on Christine's arms, her big dark eyes were fixed on Zoey.
"Great-grandma, Kayden and I would love to spend time with you. But, can't we accompany you only after we're back from the vacation with Mommy?" As she went on, a hint of brittleness could be heard in her sweet voice. "I can't bear to part with Mommy."
