Chapter 127 - Chapter 126: The ‘Surprise’ Ambush!

The next day, Seimei and his group packed up their equipment and collected their mission completion scroll before reaching the gate of the town.

Just as they exited the town through the gate, Seimei halted, turned around, and looked at the gate and the town beyond it with some emotion.

Kitakari town.

This was the first densely populated, proper town he had traveled to in his ten years of life in this world.

He had spent five full days here. Sure, he had to fight some rogue ninjas, a lot of lunatics from Sunagakure, and a man-made mini beast riot.

Ahem!!

But other than that, he had a good time here.

Before that, he either trained in Konoha or went to mountains, lakes, or jungles to hunt chakra beasts or fulfill missions.

But more importantly, he was still a student. Before he graduated and became an official Shinobi, he probably couldn't get the freedom to travel outside Konoha unless there was an urgent mission.

Ultimately, Konoha was the military stronghold, and Konoha ninjas were the official soldiers of the Land of Fire. Fortunately, once he acquired the rank of a Special Jonin, he would get enough free time to roam the country every year.

He could even travel to other elemental nations. Of course, with the hostile relationships between the hidden ninja villages of the major elemental nations, traveling to these nations without a disguise or enough self-protection measures would be suicide.

But if he could get a flying summoning beast or achieve flight someday, traveling to the hostile nations without getting encircled wouldn't be a problem.

And if he could master the Flying Thunder God Technique at least to the second step, it would be even better.

He could travel anywhere he wanted, witness any scenery he wanted, and casually beat up any foreign ninja he wanted before bolting out whenever he wished.

What a wonderful idea!

No, it couldn't just be an idea. He must do it.

Suddenly, Uchiha Sorata's voice sounded in the air. "It's time to go, Seimei."

Hearing this, Seimei suddenly snapped out of his inner thoughts and nodded lightly.

"Let's go," responded Seimei.

Senju Haku commanded, "Alright. Let's depart."

The sun was already rising on the horizon. It was about time for them to set off for Konoha. Plus, there was a high probability that they would face a 'Surprise Ambush' from Sunagakure Shinobi on the way.

If the Suna ninjas truly dared to ambush them, they would make sure not to let any of them return alive. The Torture and Interrogation Department of Konoha was idle these days, anyway.

They would surely like the new dolls.

As for how they would counterattack…

Jie Jie Jie…(Evil laugh echoes in the air)

With these thoughts in their minds, all five of them activated the Body Flicker Technique and vanished from the spot.

--------------

About an hour later, Seimei and his group had already covered more than 70 kilometers. They could have moved faster. But there was no need as it was a return trip.

Right now, they were moving through a jungle with giant trees and dense foliage.

Seimei and his teammates were jumping from the branches of one tree to another in a leisurely manner, fully enjoying the view around them.

But in reality, they were far from truly relaxed.

Seimei kept his Tenseigan activated all the way and scanned every nook and cranny to discover traps and ambushes in advance.

He even limited his visual range to three kilometers to make sure he didn't miss a single displaced leaf within a three-kilometer radius.

Hyuga Ginjo activated his Byakugan repeatedly to survey the surroundings. For additional insurance, Senju Haku was also using his sensory abilities to sense living beings containing chakra around them.

Suddenly, Seimei, who was silently moving until now, said, "Enemies spotted. Likely Suna ninjas, as I can sense a few puppets stationed there with them as well."

"They are currently a little less than 2.8 kilometers away."

Hearing this, his teammates were once again amazed by his sensory abilities to perceive things accurately across an ultra-wide range.

He did it during their stay in the town. And he did it again.

They didn't know how he did that. But they all assumed that he either had a special sensory technique from the Second Hokage, or he was using the Mind's Eye of Kagura.

Senju and Uzumaki had been intermarried for a long time. Awakening a special Uzumaki clan innate technique was perfectly normal.

Seimei had no idea what was going on in his teammates' minds and simply informed whatever he saw using his Tenseigan.

After all, not even in their wildest dreams could they imagine that Seimei was, in some way, the ancestor of them all, and he wielded Tenseigan.

"Very well," said Senju Haku as he took out a red-colored paper from his storage seal, used chakra to write a message, and burned it by overflowing it with chakra.

Once he was done, he and his other teammates looked at each other with knowing smiles.

Senju Haku said, "I have sent the message about the enemy to our allies."

"Hehe…those damn Suna bastards. They can now forget about getting out of here alive."

Seimei and the other three also smirked coldly as they kept moving straight toward the location of the 'secret' ambush.

The paper Seimei's team leader had burnt just now contained a special Fuinjutsu seal.

These papers came in pairs. Once you write something in one paper and burn it, the information written in the burnt paper would be transmitted to the other pair.

The special seal and the information transfer technique were also invented by his father, Senju Tobirama. They could have revolutionized intelligence warfare if the maximum range of successful information transfer hadn't been limited to twenty to thirty kilometers.

Soon, Seimei shook these thoughts out of his mind as he continued to move toward the Sunagakure's ambush spot.

------------

A few minutes later, in the Sunagakure ambush location…

A thin-looking Suna Chunin, who was holding a simple one-handed pirate-type telescope, moved from his spot and urgently said, "Captain, we have spotted a team of Konoha Shinobi around 800 meters away."

The captain responded, "Oh!"

Then, he extended his chakra field to sense the incoming enemy and check their chakra reserves. He also checked the approaching Konoha ninjas with the one-handed telescope before falling into a deep thought.

"So, those two bastards didn't die in the beast riot, huh?"

"Tsk!!"

"Never mind. I will send them to the afterlife with my own hands today."

The captain murmured before barking a few orders to his subordinates.

"All ninjas, we have got five enemies coming our way. All of them have Jonin-level combat capabilities."

"Prepare the traps and get ready to turn them into cold corpses."

This captain was none other than Masaru, the Peak Elite Jonin-level ninja from Sunagakure, who attacked Seimei and Uchiha Sorata in the Kitakari town.

However, he had never gotten the chance to unleash his full power within the town.

After all, if he had created too big of a commotion in the middle of the town brimming with hundreds of skilled Konoha ninjas, even a Kage-level ninja would have a tough time making it out of there alive.

And he, Masaru, was just someone who was half a step away from attaining the S-rank, which was far from the level of a true Kage.

But the situation was completely different this time.

The enemy team consisted of five ninjas with one Elite Jonin leading the group. He didn't see or sense any other Konoha ninja or ANBU following them from behind.

Meanwhile, his team had him, two other Elite Jonin, four Jonin, and twenty Chunin. The number was on his side.

Masaru grinned as an eerie killing intent leaked out from his entire being.

"Today, I will turn this forest into your graves."

Masaru chuckled darkly as he prepared to ambush Seimei's team, which was just over 500 meters away from them.
