Tristan liked to think of himself as a lover, not a fighter. If there was a way to resolve an issue without resorting to violence, then he was all for it.
Him not liking violence was part of the reason why Zachariah had gotten away with just a single punch, when Tristan had found out about the Maya plot. The key thing in all of that was that, that was normally how Tristan liked to resolve things.
But at the end of the day, he was a living breathing human being capable of being violent when needed. The situation that Tristan was currently in was way beyond normal and he had adjusted accordingly. There would be no talking here, no negotiation.
From the moment that Tristan had managed to throw himself between Ariel and the knife-wielding man. There had been no thinking.
All he had seen was the knife, the man, the blood running down Ariel's arm, and peaceful resolution had become a foreign concept to Tristan.
