Tristan was not a superstitious man. He did not believe in things like bad omens, but he knew people who did. Men and women who could not pass by a wooden object without knocking their hands against it. People who tossed salt over their shoulder whenever they were cooking. Those who would not walk under a ladder, no matter what. People who saw a black cat and instantly started praying. Those who saw a shattered mirror as a sign of doom and gloom to come.
Tristan knew those people and he had always felt that they were being too dramatic. That they were stressing themselves unnecessarily by expecting the worst simply because something out of the ordinary had happened. But now, in a twist of fate, Tristan was realizing that he had become one of those people. Nothing was going wrong.
