He had put more time and effort than he normally did when it came to their outings. Instead of just booking a place and being done with it, he had spent hours on various apps checking the weather. Even going as far as to listen to news reports on the radio and on TV, making sure that when they finally did go out, things would be perfect.
In that regard, he was successful. There were no clouds in the sky threatening rain. The sun was out in all of its might and it was unbelievably windy. Perfect weather for kite flying. With the weather on their side, things should have gone swimmingly. But instead, they were not going well at all.
