Tsunade had no choice and said, "Gaara, Fū, you two go as well. Stick with Naruto— the three of you together aren't weak. You shouldn't go down that easily."
"Yes, Tsunade-sama!"
Gaara and Fū immediately flew toward Naruto's direction.
They hadn't expected Naruto to be absurdly fast—obviously pent-up—by now he had already rushed beneath the clay bird.
Kabuto stood atop the bird and spotted Naruto at once. "The Nine-Tails jinchūriki is there! You lot, go down and grab him!"
Then two people leapt straight down, landing in front of Naruto.
The moment Naruto saw them, his face changed drastically. "Y-You two! Zabuza? Haku? Why is it you?!"
Standing before Naruto were none other than Momochi Zabuza and Haku, who had died during the Wave Country mission. Clearly, Naruto wasn't ready for this reunion.
Haku lifted a senbon. "Sorry, Naruto. We don't want to fight you, but we're not in control."
Zabuza hefted his greatsword and urged, "Brat, get lost already! Or we'll bag you!"
"Damn it! Damn you, Kabuto—how dare you toy with the dead like this!"
A feral gleam flashed in Naruto's eyes, his pupils like a beast's. His emotions were clearly slipping. In the next second he charged in with Tajū Kage Bunshin no Jutsu (Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu).
But his taijutsu still wasn't great—his clones were quickly cleaved to smoke by Zabuza's blade.
Even so, Naruto's strength had grown a lot. He'd already formed a Rasengan (Spiraling Sphere) and was about to drive it into Zabuza—only for Haku to flash in and kick him aside.
Two vs. one—Naruto fell into a disadvantage.
Gaara and Fū were just about to arrive when several figures dropped from above to cut them off.
One look, and Gaara's expression turned grave. "Kisame, Kakuzu, Sasori… all heavy hitters."
But Fū fixed on Kakuzu. "So this is senpai Kakuzu? I'm Fū of Takigakure. Didn't expect to meet the legendary senpai here. So… senpai, you're not here to capture me, right?"
It was a pretty silly question.
But Kakuzu still answered, "Sorry, little girl. We're here to capture you jinchūriki."
Fū wasn't disappointed—she was just asking for the sake of it. "Sigh, even senpai Kakuzu has died, and still has to come back to catch me. I'm truly flattered. Then, a gift for senpai—hope you like it! Chūton: Mushi-gun Shiryaku (Insect Release: Rampaging Swarm)!"
Bzzzz!
A swarm of insects flew out from the gourd on Fū's back.
The insects were immediately cloaked in the Seven-Tails' chakra, and in the next instant they rapidly enlarged—each one as big as a human head—surging by the thousands to blanket the sky.
Even the fearless Kisame felt his scalp prickle. "Seriously? You open with that? Unlike Kakuzu and Sasori, I'm still alive, you know. I can actually be bitten to death!"
Saying that, he leapt back in a hurry to evade.
Black threads writhed out of Kakuzu's body, but even he was a bit overwhelmed before that overwhelming tide of giant insects.
As for Sasori, he didn't have Hiruko now. He raised both hands and spewed high-pressure flames, attempting to incinerate the swarm.
However, these bugs weren't just big. Having absorbed a tailed beast's chakra, they'd become violently empowered, with broad resistances to various chakra natures. Not total immunity, perhaps, but reduced damage—enough to punch through the fiery barrier.
A heartbeat later, the swarm completely drowned Sasori, the gnawing sounds relentless.
It made one's scalp crawl.
Sasori, however, didn't react much. Edo Tensei bodies automatically regenerate after being damaged, and apparently don't even feel pain. Even if a huge amount of chakra is devoured, it quickly recovers.
You could say Edo Tensei (Impure World Reincarnation) is downright busted—only Fūinjutsu (Sealing Techniques) really work on it.
Over here, after Kisame dodged the swarm, he dutifully flew through hand signs, then spat a great wave of water: Suiton: Suishōha (Water Colliding Wave)!
Gaara hurriedly formed signs too and spat a massive sphere of wind: Fūton: Renkūdan (Vacuum Bullet)!
Boom! The wind sphere slammed into the incoming water. The wave was forced back by brute force, and the wind sphere kept pressing toward Kisame, forcing him to slip aside.
"Pressure desu-ne!"
Kisame praised him—genuinely impressed.
He knew the power of his own Water Release; not many youngsters could stand up to it. But Gaara's Wind Release not only stopped it, it even gained the upper hand. Clearly, this wasn't your average strength.
Though, Deidara had said this One-Tail jinchūriki supposedly only used sand techniques. Who would've thought he'd already reached this level—growing this fast, huh.
Gaara himself felt a bit helpless. He specialized in sand manipulation, but that's countered by Water Release. Fortunately he'd learned Wind Release beforehand—specifically Renkūdan, a powerful move—otherwise he'd have suffered just now. And this Kisame was said to be very strong, no weaker than Deidara. Could he win right now?
Luckily, several mask-wearing ANBU arrived just then.
One of them called out at once, "Gaara, Fū, Naruto—fall back at once! Leave these strong enemies to us!"
But Naruto wouldn't listen. "No! I have to pound that bastard Kabuto! Before that, I've gotta take down Haku and Zabuza, dattebayo!"
This idiot! Why won't he just listen!
The ANBU instantly understood Tsunade-sama's headaches; this brat was really hard to manage.
They were about to rush in to help, but more figures dropped from the sky—none other than the Edo Tensei-revived Sound Five!
Kimimaro led them, raising a bone sword to block the ANBU. "No one's getting through. Back off if you don't want to die."
"Tch! This got real troublesome!"
The ANBU had known it wouldn't go smoothly, but they hadn't expected Kabuto to bring so many Edo Tensei bodies. What a pain.
Kidōmaru, Tayuya, Sakon and Ukon, and Jirōbō remembered losing to Konoha shinobi before. Now that they'd been revived, they were itching to stretch their legs and go all out.
Kabuto stood on the clay bird, watching Deidara keep carpet-bombing below, and couldn't help bursting into mad laughter.
"Hahahaha! Konoha, enjoy the second act of the Collapse Plan!"
"Oi, you laugh like garbage."
Deidara couldn't help snarking, but quickly got hyped again. "Haha! Since I'm alive again (actually not), I'll let my explosive art bloom in splendor! Art is an explosion! Drink!"
Rumble rumble rumble!
As Deidara dropped bombs everywhere, Konoha was wreathed in smoke and fire.
Team Guy, fighting the Hungry Ghost Path at the time, heard that all-too-familiar voice and all rolled their eyes in unison. Oh—Neji doesn't need to roll them—he's already got Byakugan…
