EVA'S POV
When Damien led me back down the stage, the world felt... altered.
Pack members who had once sneered at me, brushed me aside, now stepped back to make way, dipping their heads like I was royalty.
It made my skin crawl.
"Congratulations, Lady Eva," one of them—someone who had once spilled wine over my dress without so much as a glance—gushed, their voice sickly sweet. "It's an honor to serve you."
I nodded stiffly, murmuring a polite thanks.
They weren't happy for me.
They were afraid of Damien.
Another approached, a woman I'd caught once whispering cruelly behind my back. She curtsied so low I thought she might fall over.
"Forgive me for any disrespect in the past, my Lady," she said, her smile tight. "You are so beautifu, Lady Eva."
I forced a small smile, feeling the lie dripping from her every word.
And then there were the ones who hadn't changed at all.
