At the moment Claire turned her head and saw Gilbert Watson standing behind her, a surge of overwhelming relief washed through her. She trembled as she called out to him but the joy vanished almost instantly, replaced by cold dread.
How did Gilbert find his way here?
He was blind. Coming alone like this… wasn't he walking straight into danger?
Where was ColdBlood?
She looked around. The area was desolate, empty. Clearly, ColdBlood hadn't come.
Her heart plummeted.
Gilbert's ears twitched, he had already sensed that Claire was in danger. He barked, voice thunderous, "Let her go now, and I'll spare your life."
"Gilbert, no, leave! Don't worry about me!" Claire suddenly screamed, her voice sharp with panic. "Take care of the children… from now on."
Tears streamed down her face.
Gilbert tilted his head, locating her position by sound. Instead of retreating, he strode in her direction.
"Hah! So it's a blind man."
