"Adam, Dean, what is the meaning of this? Your father is tied up, and you're saying I deserve it? This isn't how good children behave," Gilbert said sternly, his eyes narrowing.
But Dean crossed his arms and huffed. "You're a big meanie. You keep bullying Mommy."
Gilbert froze. In that instant, everything became clear.
So it was his own sons who had tied him up. They must've seen Claire getting dragged out yesterday. This was their little act of revenge—for their mother.
What a disgrace.
How had he ended up with two sons who stood so fiercely on their mother's side? Clearly, somewhere along the way, he had failed as a father.
"Adam, Dean," he growled, his tone turning cold. "Was it you two who did this?"
Dean started to squirm, suddenly realizing the gravity of what they had done. Tying up their father was no small offense. If he managed to break free, they were doomed.
But then he straightened up, defiance hardening in his little frame.
