(so The pole is over his powers will change)

A little later, inside the danger room, a group of students gathered behind the reinforced glass, their faces full of anticipation. Broo stood near Owen, both watching quietly as the two combatants prepared.

"So, uh, is there any actual stakes in this fight?" Owen asked, glancing sideways at Broo.

Broo nodded eagerly, his antennae twitching. "Yes! It's technically a friendly match… but there's a bit riding on it."

Owen leaned in, curious. "What is it?"

"If Dante wins, he's allowed to call Kid Gladiator just 'Kid' from now on," Broo explained, almost whispering like it was classified information. "But if Kid Gladiator wins, Dante has to call him 'Your Majesty' every time they talk."

Owen blinked a few times. "…Seriously?"

Broo simply nodded, completely serious. "It's very important. To Kid, anyway."

But here's the thing Kubark it's so confident in winning he said if the match somehow ends up in the draw then Dante is allowed to call him kid anyways

Back inside the Danger Room, Dante and Kid Gladiator stood several meters apart, the energy between them almost visible in the air. Dante rolled his shoulders and casually lifted Ray, his sword, resting it over his shoulder. He tried to say something—maybe to lighten the mood.

"Well, Kubark—I think—"

But he didn't get to finish.

Kid Gladiator grinned like a predator who spotted easy prey and blasted off the ground, charging at him with reckless speed, fists ready.

Dante didn't flinch. Calmly, he raised Ray, and with a swift swing, unleashed a sharp arc of electricity that tore through the air toward Kid Gladiator.

The bolt hit clean.

A bright flash exploded through the room, momentarily blinding everyone behind the glass.

Kid took the hit dead on—he wasn't expecting Dante to throw lightning at him—and it staggered him mid-air.

But Dante didn't waste a second.

He activated Lancer Step, disappearing in a sudden, sharp burst of speed, appearing right in front of Kid while he was still stunned. He thrust Ray straight at Kid's shoulder—not to pierce, but to slam into him with a powerful electric blast wrapped in blunt force.

WHAM!

Kid grunted as the impact knocked him back, but when the smoke cleared, he was laughing.

"NOW this is what I'm talking about!" Kid shouted, clearly loving every second of it.

He charged again without hesitation.

Dante readied himself, moving to intercept, but blocking wasn't easy. Even though his enhanced body made him faster and stronger than before, Kid Gladiator's sheer brute force was another level.

Each time Dante parried, the shock of the hit rattled his arms harder. His stance slipped, his defense slowed.

And then—

Kid Gladiator's fist crashed into Dante's side with enough force to send him skidding backwards, feet digging into the ground.

Dante grunted in pain, stabbing Ray into the floor to anchor himself. He dropped to one knee, hand pressed against his aching stomach.

Damn… that one hurt.

But pain wasn't enough to stop him.

He pushed himself back up, breathing hard but steady, and locked eyes with Kid Gladiator across the room.

Without missing a beat, Dante pointed Ray straight at him.

A crackling blue beam of lightning erupted from the sword's tip, ripping through the air toward Kid.

Kid didn't dodge—instead, he smirked and countered by firing a blast of crimson energy from his eyes.

The two beams collided mid-air with a deafening roar, creating a swirling explosion of energy that knocked both fighters back several steps, forcing them to brace themselves.

Dante caught his footing again, breathing heavily.

Dammit, he thought, Kid is way too strong.

If he stayed close-range, he was at a disadvantage — Kid Gladiator was stronger, faster, and tougher. But fighting at long range wasn't much better.

His laser beam's deadlier than my long range attacks…

Except for the lightning beam, maybe — but it was easy to see coming, and easy for Kid to dodge. Unlike Kid's own optic blasts, which were unpredictable and rapid-fire.

I guess I have no choice…

Dante gritted his teeth, gripping Ray tightly, and charged back in.

If I can't outmatch him, I'll have to outfight him.

The two clashed again — sword against fists, each strike sending sharp echoes through the danger room.

During his training with Laura, she had taught him the basics of swordsmanship — and she had casually mentioned once that Logan was far, far better than her.

Apparently, Wolverine was a top-tier swordsman, someone who even defeated the Silver Samurai.

Dante had asked Logan directly once, wondering why he didn't push him further.

Logan had just shrugged and said:

"You've got potential, kid — real potential. Better you figure out your own way. Build something new. You ain't meant to follow an old man's style."

And Dante had listened.

Now, every time Kid struck, Dante didn't just block — he redirected the hits, twisting with the impact to spin into counter-slashes that forced Kid on the defensive.

It was working — for a little while.

But Kid wasn't dumb — for all his cocky attitude, he was a warrior, raised under constant battle.

He adapted fast.

Soon, the strength difference began to show again.

Damn it…! Dante thought, teeth clenched, I'm getting overwhelmed again!

In a snap decision, Dante pushed his enhancement skill to its absolute limit — not just his muscles, but his bones, tendons, even his skin, pouring energy into every fiber of his body.

A sudden blue aura burst around him.

Kid blinked in surprise for a moment — just a moment — but Dante didn't waste it.

Kid punched again — but this time, Dante blocked it easily.

His strength had caught up.

Dante's smile grew sharp.

Now, he swung Ray faster — arcing, spinning, striking — and now it was Kid struggling to keep up.

When their next clash came, Dante managed to force Kid's arm wide open — exposing his side.

Dante immediately reached for Ebony — ready to finish it with a bullet.

Stop!

Ray's voice thundered through the psychic link.

Dante didn't hesitate.

He dropped the move instantly and swung back into defense.

Why the hell did you stop me?! Dante barked through the link, dodging another heavy punch.

This skill Aura. Ray answered quickly. It's a powerful buff, but there's a catch — when you're using Aura, you can't use any Construct skills. No bullets, no Double jump. You would've left yourself wide open.

Dante's heart pounded.

Got it. Good save. he thought, silently thanking Ray.

Keep doing that.

The fight continued — harder and faster.

Sparks flew. Lightning arcs clashed with optic blasts.

The two tore across the danger room — both unwilling to give in.

Until—

"STOP IT, RIGHT NOW!"

The voice boomed across the room.

Both Dante and Kid froze.

They turned to the entrance — Headmistress Kitty Pryde stood there, furious.

"This fight's getting way out of hand," she said sternly, arms crossed.

"You're both stubborn idiots, and if you keep this up, you're gonna wreck the danger room. I'm calling it. It's a draw. Final word."

Without another word, she stormed off.

Dante and Kid glanced at each other awkwardly.

"…So, I guess from now on, I can call you Kid?" Dante teased, a small grin on his face.

Kid scowled.

"It's those stupid teachers' fault. In a real fight, I would've crushed you," he grumbled.

"But fine. You won fair and square — or, uh, drew fair and square."

Kid turned to leave.

"Oh, by the way!" Dante called after him.

"If it makes you feel better, you can call me Dan."

Kid didn't even turn around.

He just raised one hand in a half-wave, half-shrug, and walked off without answering.

Dante stood there for a second, grinning slightly.

Not a bad first real win… even if it was a draw.

(so Dante and kid relationship Will be arrivals and best friends They will always refer to each other as the rival, but consider each other their best friend but will never admit it until they become grown-ups)
