Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Never Abandon

Just as he was about to investigate further, a sudden noise from outside the house made him stop in his tracks.

"Mu Qingyun! Get the hell out here right now!"

Tsk. Su frowned and glanced down at the sleeping Mu Qingyun, who had slightly furrowed her brows. Without hesitation, he used his light-based ability to press her sleep acupoint.

His eyes grew colder. He didn't go out immediately but instead peeked out through the window.

Outside, Deng Yijie stood arrogantly at the door, looking like a petty man getting his moment of triumph.

So, Bai Feifei must have gone to report to him.

Heh. If they were so eager to dig their own graves, then he would gladly help them along.

He opened the door and walked out, eyes calm as he faced the aggressive Deng Yijie. In a flat tone, he asked, "You've turned off your livestreamer, right?"

Unexpectedly seeing Su instead of Mu Qingyun, Deng Yijie snorted disdainfully. "Yeah, I turned it off. Why? I'm telling you, you'd better get Mu Qingyun out here right now, or else I'll start with you—"

Before he could finish, an overwhelming surge of mental energy slammed into him. A piercing pain stabbed through his mind, like needles stabbing deep into his skull. The next moment, his legs buckled, and he collapsed to the ground. The sharp tang of blood filled his nose and mouth.

"Urgh—Aaargh—!"

It felt like someone was smashing his head with a hammer. The explosive pain, accompanied by the sharp sting of countless needles, forced him to cry out. He clutched his head, trying desperately to lessen the inhuman agony.

Su stood over him coldly, a mocking glint in his eyes. "Feeling cocky now?"

But Deng Yijie was too overwhelmed by the pain to comprehend anything being said.

Seeing this, Su slightly eased the pressure of his mental power, maintaining just enough to cause pain while allowing him to hear.

"Ugh..."

As the intense pain subsided, Deng Yijie finally regained a bit of composure and looked up at Su.

Even if he didn't want to believe it, reality made it undeniable—this excruciating force had come from Su.

"You?"

"Stand up and speak," Su said coldly, withdrawing his oppressive mental force.

Deng Yijie hesitated for a moment, then shakily got to his feet. But as soon as he stood, Su flared his power again, forcing him back to his knees.

"You!"

"Can't even stand up? Can't even protect yourself? I really wonder where all that arrogance came from," Su sneered and slowly stepped forward.

In his left hand, light-based energy flickered. In his right, water-based power shimmered—his unique dual abilities fully revealed his identity.

"You... you're the First Commander?" Deng Yijie's face turned pale as he looked at the dazzling dual glow, staggering back in panic.

His mind was in chaos. Why was the First Commander here? And how could Su possibly be him? It didn't make sense.

"What else?" Su's lips curled into a cold smile. "Have you ever seen anyone else with these two powers?"

"N-No, but then why... why are you here…" Deng Yijie's voice trailed off, utterly shaken. His mind was blank.

The realization hit him like a hammer—Su was the First Commander. He was overwhelmed with disbelief.

"I came to observe your trial progress. I was bored, that's all. I didn't expect to run into so much disgusting behavior." Su tilted his head lazily and lifted his chin slightly. "I was going to kill you outright, but unfortunately, your team includes Kazel."

His tone darkened, "What happened tonight—you're not to mention it to anyone. If you dare disobey…"

He paused. A flash of killing intent sparked in his eyes.

"You won't want to find out the consequences."

"Yes, yes! I was wrong—I failed to recognize your greatness." Deng Yijie trembled uncontrollably at the memory of the earlier soul-crushing torment.

He nodded frantically. "I swear, I won't tell anyone."

"Good. Now go back—and keep Mu Xueyao in check. Don't let her cause trouble again."

With that, Su retracted his powers and turned to head back inside.

But Deng Yijie called out behind him, "General, Her Highness the Princess… she's very kind. She admires you deeply. She never meant to target Mu Qingyun—it was me. I was blinded by anger."

"You were definitely blinded," Su scoffed, lips curling in disdain.

He could tell Deng Yijie was truly afraid of him. But even in fear, he still rushed to speak up for Mu Xueyao. That had to be genuine devotion.

"Then stay by her side. Protect her well. Just make sure... you never abandon her."

With those words, he walked off without looking back. He trusted that Su Qiluo's reputation alone would keep Deng Yijie silent.

Deng Yijie, watching Su disappear inside, fell into deep thought.

What did the general mean by those last words?

Tch. Forget it. No point in overthinking.

He shook his head and smacked his forehead in frustration.

He had idolized Su Qiluo since middle school—a naturally gifted dual-ability powerhouse. While Deng was still a student, Su had already been fighting insect queens and had become the Commander of the First Military Academy.

He'd imagined many times what meeting the First Commander would be like—but he never thought they'd already met long ago.

God. What kind of impression had he left on Su? He was doomed. Completely doomed.

Back inside, Su looked down at the still-sleeping Mu Qingyun and resumed what he had started earlier.

He needed to figure it out: Was Mu Qingyun also a dual-ability user like him? And if so, what was her second ability? Why was she hiding it?

However, just as he placed his hand on her shoulder, the door was suddenly pushed open with a loud bang.

"Mu Qingyun, I'm back! I brought your pearls!" Kazel strode in, holding five glowing red pearls as he approached.

Pushing open the partition, the scene in front of him made him pause in surprise.

Inside, Mu Qingyun lay peacefully with her eyes closed, her head resting in Su's lap. Su's hands were on her shoulders, the two of them in an intimate posture—chest to back, hands on shoulders. It looked like a tender embrace.

"Wow." Kazel stared blankly at them and let out a deadpan "wow," his voice devoid of emotion. "What exactly are you two doing?"

[Oh my god, what is this?! What are they doing?!]

[Kazel's livestream is gold—I just opened it and caught this scene! Who's ready to ship them?!]

[Why does this feel like walking in on a cheating scandal?! LOL]

[Seriously, Kazel's expression is terrifyingly calm. This is like watching an ice-cold discovery of betrayal.]
