Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Want to Go to the Seabed?

"No, no," Xiong Ruoyou hurriedly shook her head, though her heart felt heavy. She looked down at the bricks on the ground and picked them up with even more effort.

Mu Qingyun didn't pay attention to Kazel anymore and continued to bend down, picking up bricks.

"Ah!"

A somewhat flat exclamation came from behind her. She turned and saw that Su's fingertip had been cut by a sharp brick edge, a shallow streak of blood clearly visible against his fair skin.

"Tsk, how can you be so careless?" Mu Qingyun frowned, putting down her brick and quickly walking over to Su.

Good grief, he managed to hurt himself just moving bricks—how will he survive in the military academy facing the insectoid enemies?

"It hurts," Su lowered his gaze, the slight sting on his fingertip almost tickling him. He guessed if he had called out any later, the wound might have already healed.

"I brought a healing device," Yi Beixuan said, pulling a small gadget from his storage pouch.

He stepped closer to Su, pressed a button, and a blue light emitted from the device, shining on Su's wound. In the blink of an eye, Su's injury was completely healed.

"Is it really healed?" Mu Qingyun pinched Su's fingertip and held it up to her eyes. The small wound looked as if it had never existed.

"Yes, modern technology. It's specially designed to heal minor wounds instantly," Yi Beixuan said, waving the device and handing it to her for research.

Poor Mu Qingyun, she really hasn't seen anything good before, some onlookers thought.

But this isn't anything special—aren't healing devices pretty common?

Mu Qingyun is from a backward star, so she definitely hasn't seen this before. It's like mech armor—you guys only see that on TV, right?

Mu Qingyun studied the healing device carefully. It was such a tiny piece of machinery—how could it heal wounds so quickly? How exactly did it work?

"Heh, such a tiny injury. If you had waited a bit longer, you probably wouldn't even notice it," Kazel said leisurely, wagging his tail with interest as he looked at Su.

There were always so many things going on.

A cold glint flashed in Su's eyes, but his face showed no expression. "My body's weak. I'm just being dramatic. Sorry to make you laugh."

Su's words confused everyone, and they all looked up at him. Only Yi Beixuan burst out laughing.

"What are you laughing at?" Mu Qingyun looked at Yi Beixuan with curiosity. It was normal for friends to joke around, but she felt like Yi Beixuan was laughing at Su, which seemed a bit off.

"Ah, Su didn't talk like this before. He's changed a lot," Yi Beixuan quickly joked to cover himself.

"That's about right," Xiong Ruoyou said, pulling out her storage pouch. Her dad had spent a lot to get it, so it had a huge capacity.

Still, half of it was already filled with bricks.

"Pick up more," Mu Qingyun said, stuffing her bricks into Su's storage pouch. "Gather enough at once. More is fine, but don't come up short."

"Alright," Xiong Ruoyou nodded and ran off to pick up more bricks.

"There's always seaweed," Kazel said, turning around and diving into the sea, his tail sinking into the water while his arms rested on the shore.

"I'm looking forward to your seaweed house," he added with a smile.

"I won't disappoint you," she glanced at Kazel casually and continued picking up bricks.

Time flew by as they worked. Whatever Kazel had said to Mu Xueyao and Deng Yijie earlier, they had been avoiding Mu Qingyun since then, not causing trouble.

Back in the cave, Mu Qingyun roughly counted the bricks and stones. Satisfied, she headed to the shore to find Kazel.

"Want to see the underwater world?" Kazel flicked his tail with a smirk and gestured downward with his chin.

"I'll die," she said bluntly, raising an eyebrow.

She joked—not even in shallow water could she hold her breath for more than a few minutes. The deep sea was even worse. Besides the breathing problem, the deep-sea pressure was unbearable for her.

"No, I can figure something out for you," Kazel said, tilting his head and relaxing by the shore.

"How about it? This is your only chance. You probably can't afford a mech battleship, but here's a chance to dive yourself. Interested?"

"Tell me your plan first," Mu Qingyun squatted down, looking into Kazel's violet eyes, trying to read what he was thinking.

People can hide their emotions well on their faces, but eyes reveal everything.

"There's a type of shell down there—pure white and transparent. Nothing lives within three feet of where it grows. After it dies, the shell opens and you can get inside. It can resist the deep-sea pressure and still let you see outside," Kazel said seriously, his violet eyes full of sincerity, no hint of deceit or trickery.

Wow, go go! Mu Qingyun, go!

I want to see the seabed too! Mu Qingyun, take me with you—I've never seen it.

Never seen it? Haven't you watched TV? There are underwater exploration shows every week.

Please, new generation youth don't watch boring documentaries with robotic male voices. I fall asleep in ten minutes.

Exactly, documentaries are too dull. So Mu Qingyun, for our sake if not your own, please consider it.

Why don't you just watch Kazel's live stream? He's underwater all the time, right?

No way. As a loyal viewer of Kazel's stream, he mostly stays in shallow waters. Every time he goes deep, he turns off the stream.

...

"No," Mu Qingyun shook her head and sat down on the spot. "I won't put my life in someone else's hands."

Huh?

Kazel raised an eyebrow. His tail, which had been flicking happily, stopped and floated quietly on the water surface.

After a moment of silence, he returned to his usual mood. "Fair enough. Then I'll get you the seaweed."

With that, he narrowed his eyes, swished his tail, and dove into the depths.

Soon, Kazel came up carrying a huge pile of seaweed. He spread it all out on the ground and dove back down again.

He repeated this several times until a large pile of seaweed lay before Mu Qingyun. She finally called to Kazel, "That's enough for today."

"The seaweed house you mentioned—is the roof made of seaweed?" Kazel lay on the shore, casually picked up a piece of seaweed, and popped it into his mouth. "But can something like this really block wind and rain?"
