Calvin had terrible luck all morning. He encountered nothing but clouds.
He saw Charlotte sprawled out on the dirt cube, fast asleep with her face buried in a towel, snoring loudly.
A vein popped on Calvin's forehead.
"Seriously? You can't function on that little sleep. Why force yourself to wake up so late?"
According to the plan, Charlotte was supposed to wake up around 7 or 8.
But Calvin waited until 10, and she was still snoring like a truck, completely destroying her image as a soft, cute girl.
Frustrated with both the lack of clouds and the floating island, Calvin gently slapped her cheek.
No reaction.
So he slapped again.
"??"
Charlotte woke up dazed, clearly confused from being smacked. She jumped up and glared at Calvin.
"You damn! What are you doing? I'll beat you up!"
Just as she was about to attack, she noticed the glaring sun overhead.
"Oh crap… it's already this late?"
She rubbed her face and looked at the towel on the cube.
The dirt was already soft, and with the towel, it made a surprisingly decent bed.
"Calvin, it's already mid-morning. Did any clouds appear?"
"Nope. Maybe it's because I opened a silver chest and got a Red Iron Sword and Healing Gloves. My luck's just completely shot. Even though this cube can move, it's somehow less efficient than those that move randomly!"
Calvin replied, deadpan.
Then he handed Charlotte the healing gloves.
She scratched an itch ungracefully before taking them.
"I copied the gloves today. We've got two Red Iron Swords and two Healing Gloves now. Should be enough to match most players."
Calvin said calmly.
"Okay." Charlotte nodded.
But just then, the sun was suddenly blocked.
They looked up. High above, something massive was casting a shadow.
"Calvin… could that be the floating island?"
Charlotte rushed to the control cube, grabbed the steering wheel, and raised the altitude.
Thirty minutes later, both of them were stunned.
A giant platform of black stone cubes loomed not far above.
It was massive, too big to see the edges.
"Could this be… the underside of the floating island?"
Charlotte murmured.
"So you dumbass… you've been driving all this time, and we were right under the center of the island the whole time?"
Calvin said, speechless.
"W-well, I didn't know! I was just going straight ahead! Maybe the island was floating in the same direction I was driving?"
Charlotte looked at Calvin with a hopeful expression, trying to avoid blame.
"That's possible. In that case, try driving in reverse."
"Got it!"
Charlotte turned the cube around.
An hour later, the black stone above vanished, replaced by a shimmering sea of clouds.
"We've reached the Cloud Sea, Calvin! That's the edge of the floating island!"
They started to rise. The Cloud Sea was at least a kilometer or two high.
After a few minutes, they reached the edge of the floating island.
Calvin took out his personal fishing rod.
Then, standing at the edge of the Cloud Sea, he cast a line.
"Calvin, what are you doing?"
Charlotte asked curiously.
"Fishing."
"Are you dumb? Here?? This isn't even real clouds!"
But the next moment shocked them both.
[Fishing success! Gained: 500ml Water ×1]
"Just as I thought… The Cloud Sea is made of fishable clouds!"
Calvin said softly, eyes gleaming with joy.
Apparently, the Cloud Sea functioned like the random clouds. Letting players fish for supplies.
Not as rewarding as Attribute Clouds or Blueprint Clouds,
But still fishable.
It meant they could survive even in cloudless zones!
This was hidden knowledge. Never mentioned in the official game guides!
Charlotte's jaw dropped in disbelief.
"Looks like we've got enough resources to fish. Let's each do ten rounds. The last five we'll save for special clouds like Attribute or Blueprint Clouds after the floating island exploration."
"Okay, Calvin. I'll follow your lead!"
Charlotte grinned and pulled out her fishing rod.
They fished ten times each.
Gained five dirt blocks, five food items, and five water units.
Plus, blueprints.
[Wooden Fence Blueprint ×10]
[Iron Door Blueprint ×1]
Perfect.
The fence could secure the platform edges,
And the door could fill in the missing 1×2 space in the wooden cabin they took from Ray.
"Let's go, Charty. Time to explore the floating island. Remember Red Iron Sword in your left hand, Healing Gloves in your right."
"Okay~"
Charlotte was a bit surprised Calvin called her by her nickname. It was an affectionate gesture.
But she quickly dismissed it.
He probably just said it casually. It's not like he likes me. If he did, why would he always make me mad? And even if he does like me… maybe it's just my body he's into. That pervy stare, always touching me…
As they reached the beach, Charlotte's mind was running wild, cheeks blushing.
She realized that Calvin usually called her "Charlotte,"
But now using her nickname stirred up strange feelings…
[You've reached the Hidden Dragon Floating Island.
Island Area: Unknown.
Duration: 10 hours.
The platform will guide your position for 10 hours. Please return before the time limit ends.]
Calvin was shocked when he saw the prompt.
"No wonder it took half a day to reach this place. It's huge!"
"Hidden Dragon Floating Island? Don't tell me there's an actual dragon here?"
Charlotte said nervously.
"Don't be silly. There's no way dragons exist. Let's check the forest, maybe there's a treasure chest."
Calvin replied.
But deep down, he wasn't so sure anymore.
If mass teleportation is possible in this world, maybe dragons aren't that far-fetched either…
With those thoughts, they entered the forest across the beach.
