Kathy still couldn't move.
She was frozen.
A threat… to Dylan?
No.
That didn't make sense.
Her fingers curled weakly at her sides as her thoughts spiraled.
How?
Why?
She was just a plain human girl. Nothing special. Nothing dangerous.
The king had to be mistaken.
Or mad.
Yes… that had to be it.
This was all a misunderstanding.
It had to be.
She wasn't a threat to Dylan.
She couldn't be.
But even as she tried to convince herself, something cold settled deep in her chest.
Fear.
Not fear of the king.
Not even fear of death.
But the terrifying possibility that it was true.
That she—
was the only person in the world who could kill him.
Her body trembled.
A sharp ache spread through her chest, tightening until it hurt to breathe.
Dylan… cursed.
Unable to feel.
Trapped in a life he didn't even understand was suffering.
And her—
the one thing that could end him.
"No…" she mouthed soundlessly.
How could she be?
She couldn't even stand up to her stepmother.
So how…
how could she possibly be the one meant to end Dylan?
Tears welled in her eyes, blurring her vision—
and this time…
they burned.
" Dylan." She whispered. As she let the tears fall out.
" As you wish your Majesty." Lilith replied with a smile.
" I'll give you at least two weeks to get yourself back together and fully heal. Until then stay put out of sight and don't do anything stupid." King Philip said and walked away.
Kathy immediately cleaned her tears trying to get hold of herself she held her breath and followed the king.
When the king had left the tunnel. Kathy just watched him go off in another direction, she didn't follow him. She walked back to her room breathing in and out freely.
She sat on her bed recalling all she had heard in her head once again.
That was the reason they had chosen her instead. She was Dylan's doom. Doesn't make sense. But she was more interested in the fact that her Dylan couldn't feel emotions. That was why he had brushed her off like that.
Kathy didn't even realize when days passed and she hadn't heard from Dylan, soon days turned into weeks and Kathy hasn't seen or heard from Dylan. She even forgot that the king was trying to kill her, maybe because he had not made any move. Her mood was down ever since she heard all that. Her maids couldn't even lift her mood up. All she could think about was Dylan's curse. If only she could melt the cold hearted curse away wouldn't that be something.
Things had been going smoothly lately but she'd learn one thing from that day where she had learn an absurd truth. No one was trust worthy.
And things were about to change for good. She had been on the edge because she knew of the king's plan to kill her. She didn't risk coming here to just die, that wasn't going to happen thankfully she still had her necklace. She was ready for anything they would throw at her.
One night walking alone down the garden path. She sensed people following her , but if she turned around she saw no one. She sighed, she really missed him though. Before she took another step forward she was ambushed by a group of four men who were dressed in black.
Gripped by fear and confusion Kathryn tried to run but was outnumbered. And they circled round her
" Who sent you? What...do you ... want." She starmmered . Surely God won't let her life waste away like that.
One of them brought out little knives that looked like boomerang but really smaller in size. He threw it at her swiftly . Kathy screamed and closed her eyes but it was like it bounced from her from an invincible force and head straight to guy's chest.
Kathy didn't wait to see what had happened but as the assassins were thrown off course and trying to make out what had just happened. She noticed they were distracted, though the surrounded her, she slipped passed two of them and fled the scene. Soon she heard voices trailing after her and when she looked back the assassins were after her .
She ran as fast as she could but with people with mystical abilities wasn't possible. They pulled her back with their power but then something stopped it again like before.
Kathy stared in shock as she saw a guy suddenly appeared in front of her. He had moved there but she wasn't sure how, curiousity had her staring at the chaotic scene in front of her .
The new person was protecting her and he was good. Fighting off the assassins skillfully like he was an assassin himself. The assassins where good but he was more skillful and creative, soon when the assassins saw that they couldn't go through blades became involved. Kathy looked with worry the guy helping her didn't seem to be with any weapon, but he was good no good was an understatement he was flawless but when it looked as if the assassins where getting the upper hand he skillfully brought out a small blade and just like that the fight became more intense. The guy moved swiftly slicing them as though they were weeds on his path.
Soon he successfully slit their throats. Kathy was still confused when the guy stopped moving and there were bodies on the floor. Their movement wasn't ordinary and it fascinated her rather than scare her. They moved very quickly she could barely see all that transpired between them
The man turn to her, blood dripping in his face. He corked his head a little as he stared at her. In a blink of an eye he was in front of her. They were so fast Kathy couldn't keep up. She gasped as she looked up at him, her brow creased... He looked familiar.
" Um...t..tha... thank you f.. for saving me." She moved back to give them reasonable amount of space. He stepped closer, Kathy was confused he had saved her but now the look in his eyes was burning, he looked upset.
What happened next wasn't what she expected, he grabbed her by the neck with speed and next thing she knew she felt her body smack heavily against a wall. His hand tightened around her neck more. Kathy choked what the hell was happening
They both didn't notice the beautiful woman hiding in the shadows spectating the scene before her. She smiled and then walked away
