Kev crossed the short tunnel in a few breaths with Pete slung over his shoulder, entering a short and narrow passage.
A smile bloomed on his face as soon as he arrived there.
Noticing his smile, Pete's heart filled up with wonder.
"What's he looking at that made him so happy?" he wondered as he followed his gaze while hanging from his shoulder and looked ahead.
Sunlight came into view.
This time it wasn't the glow of some bioluminescent fungi. It was raw natural sunlight pouring in from outside.
The exit...
It was finally in sight!
"Kev!" he cried out in excitement.
"I know," Kev said through suppressed excitement in a low voice.
He secured Pete in his grip then leaped forward, shooting towards the exit of the Abyssal Burrow. As he did that, long shadowy limbs extended from his back, grabbing each and every one of the survivors, pulling them towards him.
