Chapter 128: The Three of Us
Within the Fragmentum space, shrouded by dark, ominous clouds.
The handsome mecha—a symphony of white, red, and gold, like a sun god descended—mirrored Caelus's movements in perfect sync. Super Granzort slammed the orb of potent Madou Power in its hand into the ground, which immediately erupted in a blinding light.
The entire land began to vibrate at a low frequency, rumbling and clanging. The air temperature quietly rose, the heat melting the ice and snow. Countless streams of white vapor rose from the ground, revealing the earth's original color. At the center of the impact, the ground fractured into a web of deep, long cracks, from which a dazzling golden light shone.
"Come forth, Super Kaiser Blade!"
CRACK!
With the resounding shout, the energy in the earth's fissures erupted, shooting out a reverse-current pillar of light that soared into the sky. A sword of crimson flame, seemingly condensing endless heat, slowly rose from within the light pillar. Its hilt was crimson red, its blade a shimmering gold.
March 7th's small mouth hung open as she stared in disbelief at the magnificent scene. Her sky-blue eyes were filled with shock, and also a bit of confusion.
"Why is a mecha using magic!?"
The Engine of Slaughter wielded the Lances of Endless Winter. The sharp points, carrying a chill that could freeze space itself, left trails of frost in their wake as they stabbed towards Super Granzort.
Inside the cockpit, a perfectly replicated divine sword rose from the hexagram platform, its blade burning like molten lava. Caelus gripped the hilt of the Kaiser Blade, and with a surge of Madou Power, he stomped on the ground. The earth cracked under the force, and the Madou King launched itself forward like a giant cannonball.
As a magical mecha, it didn't require knowledge of piloting; the body synchronized with the summoner. This allowed it to display a level of agility that was difficult for a manually piloted mecha to achieve. Caelus sidestepped the Lance of Endless Winter. The ice spear easily pierced the earth, shattering rock and burying itself dozens of meters into the ground.
"Good strength, but you're too slow!" Caelus noted, glancing at the power of the ice lance as he swung his own sword.
The blazing blade stirred up a violent inferno. A terrifying, tens-of-meters-long torrent of heat formed into a blade that slashed towards the Engine of Slaughter's wrist.
SCREECH!
A piercing sound, like tearing steel, rang out. The flames broke through the Engine of Slaughter's defenses, shattering its hard steel plating. Fragments scattered in mid-air, turning to slag. In terms of size, the three-hundred-meter-tall Engine of Slaughter undoubtedly dwarfed the forty-meter Super Granzort. But a larger body also meant relatively slower speed. Although it was a combined mecha, one of its components—the Engine of Creation—was just an ordinary piece of technology that received little enhancement from the dark power. If it had been a fusion of multiple Madou gods, the mecha wouldn't have taken any damage until it was completely destroyed.
"What on earth are you!?" Cocolia rose from her ice throne, her face grim as dark power surged. Black and red lightning snaked from the right side of the Engine of Slaughter's chest towards the wound, repairing the damaged area. She could use the dark power from the Tarakudo Mask to aid Tchang Zu and the Stellaron's power to repair the Engine of Slaughter. The only downside was that doing so would reduce the number of shadow soldiers she could summon.
"I'm just a passing-by Luminous Messenger." The scorching wind distorted the air as Caelus swung the burning Kaiser Blade and continued his attack.
"Luminous Messenger?" Cocolia frowned, having never heard the term before.
Raising the Super Kaiser Blade high, Caelus infused it with Madou Power and Stellaron energy. A brilliant flame instantly erupted from the blade. He brought it down in a powerful slash, not aiming for the Engine of Slaughter, but towards the other Seele and Bronya. A tsunami of fire engulfed the swarms of shadow soldiers, like a sea of flames.
Infusing it with power again, the Kaiser Blade transformed into a reverse-current firestorm, precisely striking the Bat Khan flying towards March 7th. The bat-like shadow soldiers were annihilated in the raging inferno. So what if you have a Stellaron!? You think you're the only one?
Since Caelus and Stelle were piloting the mecha as "one person," the Stellaron energy inside Stelle could also be used to enhance Super Granzort.
Another swing of the sword, this time towards Dan Heng. There was no enemy there; the target was the ice and snow. This move seemed completely baffling.
The torrents of blazing fire were wiping out the Shadowkhan with extreme efficiency, but the coolness didn't last for more than three seconds. Suddenly, Super Granzort, in the middle of a swing, jerked to a halt. Its attack rhythm stopped, and its limbs began to move erratically, as if disobeying the commands of its brain.
"Caelus, give me the Super Kaiser Blade! It's my turn to slash some stuff!"
"Hey, you idiot, you could have just asked! Don't just try to grab it!"
"Then let go!"
"I'm not done having fun yet."
"I don't care, it's my turn!"
Their dialogue, like twin siblings fighting over a toy, was broadcast from Super Granzort to the battlefield outside, causing black lines to appear on everyone's foreheads.
"Those two clowns..." March 7th slapped a hand to her forehead, unable to watch. She grabbed her pink hair with her small hands and yelled in exasperation, "Get a grip, you two! We're fighting a boss! Can't you be a little serious?! Don't drop the ball at a time like this!"
Hearing their words, the expression on the Tarakudo Mask Cocolia wore became incomparably furious, twisted with hatred and malice. "I don't care what you are! I just have to destroy you!"
Floating above the Engine of Slaughter's head, Cocolia stretched a hand towards Super Granzort. "Feel the frost!"
The ice lances floating behind her, radiating a cold capable of freezing all things, now began to fire continuously like funnels. The Engine of Slaughter, wielding its lances and wreathed in a chilling aura that could tear all things asunder, lunged forward with a ferocious thrust that pierced the atmosphere with a sharp scream.
"Caelus, Stelle, watch out!" Dan Heng shouted a warning.
But even before he had spoken, Stelle and Caelus had already reacted. At critical moments, their synchronization was beyond mere telepathy. Super Granzort, which had been flailing about just a second ago, instantly regained its fluid movements.
"I just realized something..." Caelus's expression was a bit strange.
A blazing light erupted from the Kaiser Blade like a tidal wave, meeting the storm of ice lances that tore through the air.
Sizzle! Sizzle!
Some of the ice lances were melted by the intense flames, turning into thick white vapor, which then quickly re-froze into ice pellets in the subsequent extreme cold.
Inside the cockpit, Caelus and Stelle, holding hands and controlling the mecha together, paused when Stelle heard his words. Their tacit understanding allowed her to quickly realize what he was talking about. Stelle immediately sensed the power of Super Granzort, and her golden eyes widened in disbelief. "Why!?"
Stelle roared in grief and indignation, unable to understand. "It's the ultimate form, possessing the power of the Sun King!"
"So why can't it fly freely!?"
"Am I Groudon!?"
"Don't say it, but now that you mention it..." Caelus was stunned for a moment, then had a sudden realization. Groudon was known as the legendary Pokémon incarnation of the land itself, and Super Granzort was the Madou King of the Earth, controlling the Madou Power of the earth. Both were masters of the land; it made a certain kind of sense that they couldn't fly.
Fortunately, it was the ultimate form. Although it couldn't fly freely, it could just about manage to float in the air.
Using its Madou Power to levitate, Caelus twisted the mecha's body in mid-air, narrowly dodging a Lance of Endless Winter shrouded in an icy gale. Stomping on the Engine of Slaughter's giant arm to gain leverage, he turned, and the Kaiser Blade, burning with intense flames, blocked an iron fist that descended like Mount Tai, as well as a Lance of Winter that stabbed down horizontally.
CRASH!
It successfully blocked the Lance of Endless Winter, but the immense pressure was fully unleashed upon Super Granzort, slamming the white and red mecha violently into the ground.
"Caelus!"
"Stelle!"
The others cried out in worry.
"Dan Heng! March! What are you two doing? Summon, quickly!"
A voice from within the divine mecha made Dan Heng and March 7th freeze. "Summon?"
The two looked at each other, and Dan Heng quickly realized what was meant. He immediately looked down at the top in his hand.
"Focus and feel the Luminous items we gave you," Caelus's voice continued.
"Huh? We can use them too?" March 7th's face lit up with surprise.
"Why else would I have given it to you?" Stelle was almost speechless. That little brain of March's was truly one of a kind. In the system shop, ability-type items could only be used by Stelle and Caelus, but tool-type items could be given to others.
While March 7th was overjoyed, Dan Heng had already lowered his head and was quietly focusing, sensing the blue top in his hand.
"So that's how..."
As understanding dawned, Dan Heng's eyes snapped open. He looked towards a spot not far away. The ice and snow there had been melted into a lake by Caelus's previous sword strike. Dan Heng threw the top high into the air, wrapped the string around it, and threw it out. "Luminous Top, spin!"
The blue top flew out and spun on the surface of the lake, drawing a grid-like magic circle. "Domakisa-lamu..." Dan Heng recited the summoning words with a straight face.
In the next second, the lake rippled and surged. A vortex formed in the center of the magic circle, and the calm water's surface distorted like a soft sheet of paper being torn. The blue, white, and orange head-crest of a mecha broke through the surface of the lake, sending countless splashing waves into the air like a rainstorm.
"Water?" Dan Heng murmured thoughtfully. This special mecha suited him surprisingly well. The power of his dragon-kind was to command the coastal waters. The sound of surging waves echoed from the void as his hidden power was stirred by the mecha. As the magic battle armor appeared, Dan Heng almost revealed his true dragon form, but he managed to control it. A dragon formed of blue water condensed beneath his feet, carrying him into the body of Super Winzert.
"Whoa!" Dan Heng's successful summoning made March 7th's eyes sparkle like stars. "My turn, my turn!"
March 7th seriously focused on the power of the longbow in her hand. It didn't take long for her to open her eyes. "A bow, I'm best with this!"
"The wind is coming! Domakisa-lamu—Luminous Arrow, fire!"
March 7th expertly drew the bowstring. An arrow of light energy formed and shot towards the sky. The magic arrow drew a feather-patterned magic circle in the air. A tornado, like a tangible vortex, pierced the heavens, and the head-crest of a mecha, predominantly white and green with red and yellow accents, descended from the magic circle.
"Haha!" Enveloped by the light from the red 'V' pattern, a wind-green magic battle armor wrapped around March 7th, and a five-pointed star circlet appeared on her forehead. March 7th spread her arms, her joyous smile as cheerful as a spirit's, and rode the wind, flying into the body of Super AquaBeat.
The two other Madou Kings quickly completed their transformations. Super Winzert and Super AquaBeat stood tall upon the land!
