Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: The Pact of Embers

Ashes danced in the air like forgotten memories as Leonhart stepped into the scorched valley. The ground beneath him pulsed with a cold heat—an unnatural blend of fire and void. His armor bore the marks of past battles, but his eyes burned with a defiance untouched by time.

He wasn't alone.

From the smoke emerged a lone figure, tall and cloaked in crimson flames that didn't burn. His face was veiled, but the aura he carried was undeniable.

"You are far from your shadows, Leonhart," the man spoke, his voice echoing like steel on stone.

Leonhart narrowed his eyes. "And you are far from being just another illusion."

The man stepped forward. "I am Kairon, bearer of the Ember Pact. The one who defied the Hollow Flame."

Silence settled between them like a sword about to fall. Then, Kairon extended a hand.

"Together, we stand a chance against the Devouring Void. I know what hunts you."

Leonhart hesitated, then clasped his forearm. Flames sparked at the contact, not of fire—but of bond. A temporary alliance forged in mutual peril.

As they walked deeper into the ruins, echoes of whispers filled the air. Shadows slithered between the rocks, and a chill crept down Leonhart's spine.

"Do you feel that?" he asked.

Kairon nodded. "That's not just the void. That is his attention."

The ground split open beneath them, and from the chasm emerged a figure cloaked in shifting black mist—faceless, voiceless, yet exuding raw malice.

"Satan's shadow," Kairon muttered. "He sends his echo before his arrival."

Leonhart drew his blade. "Then let it be known—darkness may whisper, but I roar."

He charged forward, blade clashing against mist, fire against oblivion. The battle was a blur of light and shadow, Kairon beside him, summoning embers that scorched the formless.

The creature shrieked as the final strike shattered its core, dissolving into a spiral of ash.

Breathing heavy, Leonhart looked at the blackened ground. "He's testing me. Watching."

Kairon looked toward the horizon. "This was only the beginning. When you meet him—truly—he will not hold back."

Leonhart's eyes glowed, his voice steady:

"Let him come. The storm remembers the flame."

And with that, they stepped into the path ahea
