Chapter 15 - The Reveal

Shirou POV:

With my newfound resolve, I woke up feeling refreshed and energetic, ready to begin my plan to save Sakura from the clutches of Zouken Matou. I exited my room to see Sakura in the kitchen making breakfast,

"Good morning Sakura, how was your sleep?"

Sakura turned to me with a smile, "it was great senpai, I had a fantastic time at the movie theatre."

I was glad, I returned her smile, smelling something delicious, but asking just to make sure "is that salmon I smell?"

"Yes senpai, I decided to make some since you've been growing a lot lately and some protein other than eggs would be nice."

"Thank you Sakura, I'm glad that the work I'm putting in has been noticed. Although, I know we glossed over it yesterday, but how did you know I was the Steel-eyed Raven?"

Sakura doesn't answer, but takes a minute to finish cooking the salmon and plating it at the table, where we both sit and start eating. I'm finished my egg on rice when she speaks up,

"Like I said yesterday, I noticed this weight in your eyes and shoulder, something you've always had, but this time it was more pronounced. You would also look perpetually tired, and sore whenever you moved, and on days where the Steel-eyed Raven performed a particular massacre, you would move around like you were hiding an injury or an over exertion."

As she went on, I realized why she was able to notice all this, and that was because she herself had experience hiding these things from the training she received at the Matou residence. All things that son of a bitch Shirou Emiya didn't notice until Heaven's Feel, the retard, for a guy who wanted to be a hero he sure was blind to injustice. Still my favorite character.

"I see, well I'm glad"

"Huh?"

"Now I don't have to try as hard to hide it, and can stop lying to at least one person on who I am and what I do. That brings more peace of mind then you know."

"That's just like you senpai, not worried about the secret but about the lies that you told."

"Yeah, that's me, though you should probably know that I'm a magus."

Sakura stopped eating, but started to once more when she realized that she wasn't supposed to know since she thinks I don't know she is a magus.

"A magus? What's that senpai?"

Sakura is a master at acting, her clueless look and confusion look so real, that if I didn't know, I would think she's being genuine. Looks like Shirou wasn't as stupid as I thought.

"A magus is someone who can use magic. People like me are born throughout history with the ability to make miracles and things you could never believe happen."

I made sure to hype up magus and used examples like King Arthur, Merlin, Solomon, Raikou, Nobunaga, etc. Trying to convey the greatness of being a magus.

"That sounds so cool, senpai, are you able to perform such miracles or feats?" asked Sakura, perfectly masking her disgust for magus from previous experience.

"Unfortunately, as time has passed, people like me aren't able to do super cool stuff anymore because science can be used to explain why it happens. The only thing I can do is make myself super strong and create weapons."

"That's a shame, although, weapons and super strength? Is that why the news says the Steel-eyed Raven can punch through walls, is bulletproof, kill men in one shot, and disappear like he was never there?"

"Yeah, that's your cool senpai doing all that amazing work" I boast with an arrogant smile.

Sakura looks at me disbelievingly, "prove it"

I do just that by projecting weapons all around me and taking Sakura to the backyard so she can see me punch a hole into the ground.

Sakura looks at me in excitement and gratitude, "that was an amazing senpai, thank you for telling me and letting me into your world." She smiles.

"You're welcome Sakura"

With that, Sakura and I got ready for school. On the way there, I let her know that I'd be busy with Tohsaka for today, which she acknowledged, but couldn't hide her disagreement fast enough. That's something else I have to fix after removing Zouken, her relationship with her sister who didn't know what was happening. After that, we silently walk to school and when we arrive, we do what Japanese teens do at school (because the author doesn't feel like doing more research on Japanese high school).

Lunch arrives not a moment too soon, and I leave my classroom to head up to the roof, where Tohsaka will be so we can eat lunch together like we always do when I give her food. I reached the rooftop in record time and sat down, waiting not even 5 minutes before Tohsaka arrived. I handed her the lunch I made and we both sat against the chain fence eating and talking, spending some time together.

Once we both finished, I decided to break the news to her, "Tohsaka?"

"Yes Emiya?"

"I'm going to tell you something and you have to swear you won't get mad."

"What exactly are you about to tell me that I have to swear. It better not be some kind of love confession, otherwise we'll have to stop being friends."

"Don't worry, it's nothing like that, I would like for us to stay as friends, no it's something else entirely."

"Then tell me."

"Please swear you won't be mad"

"Argh, fine. I swear on my name that I won't be mad"

"Thank you. Tohsaka, I'm a magus" and with that I turn my eyes into the color of steel and change my hair white.

Tohsaka stares at me, her hand shaking and her eye twitching in anger, or maybe betrayal as one of her friends turned out to be a magus. She was most likely going through every interaction we had, wondering if it was all a ploy, at least that's what I assume is happening as she stares at me silently.

I sigh, "Tohsaka, are you still with me"

Frostily, she speaks, "yes Emiya, I'm just wondering what your angle is on telling me this and what exactly it is you want. Wondering if every interaction we had was a lie or if any of the food you gave me was drugged or not with some slow-acting agent."

Shakely, she asked "is it even true what you went through in the fire?"

I look at her sadly, "Tohsaka, you may not believe it, but everything we talked about, every moment we had together was genuine. I never had any ill intentions with you and I'm sorry for any pain I've caused you with this revelation."

Seeing that she was still not convinced, I continued, "I remember waking up to fire and destruction around me as a hole in the sky poured black mud on the ground."

As I start to recall the events from that day, I feel any and all positive emotion leave me and the only feeling left is one of hollowness. "I remember getting up and walking forward, passing by others who called out for help, knowing I could do nothing except walk forward. I could feel the names and faces of people I can't remember slipping away into the fire as I continued to walk in search of salvation."

Forlornly, "even now, all I can remember is waking up in a bed I do not recognize, walking down a hallway I do not recognize, entering a living room I do not recognize and greeting someone who has no face as mom and a dad with no face before the area is consumed by flame."

I stop and just stand there silently, allowing myself to let go of the memories and center my being as emotions return to me. I hear no response from Tohsaka and turn to leave when I feel a tug on my arm, I turn around and see Tohsaka.

"I believe you Shirou, the way you looked when you described the fire isn't something someone like you could fake. The pain, the sadness, all washed away by a hollow feeling that looked so real that it had to be."

With a tired smile, I thank her, "thank you Tohsaka"

I feel like we grew a lot closer after that.
