It had been two days since Renald received the order from his captain—he was to depart for the mission to HQ in Zone 5.
And now, at dawn, the soldiers selected for the task stood assembled at the gates.
Renald had expected a small group, maybe thirty or forty people. But to his surprise, nearly three hundred soldiers were gathered.
The air buzzed with quiet chatter and the shuffle of boots.
Among the crowd, he spotted several strong individuals—some he had seen before in sparring sessions, and others he only knew by reputation.
What surprised him most was the presence of captains. Not just one or two, but several high-ranking officers had joined the mission.
That was when it hit him—his captain, though harsh and blunt in speech, had a good heart. She could've easily claimed this mission for herself and raked in merit points.
But she didn't. She stepped aside and sent them in her place. It was her way of acknowledging their effort, their dedication, and giving them a shot.
