But Nix is Nix, after all, and he'd written less than a page before he started to sit down."Ellis-"
Ellis, who was organizing literature at his desk, responded without looking up, "Hmm?"
Nyx tapped the page with his pen and asked with an innocent expression, "Have you ever thought that we demons actually control our magic by intuition, not by theory? That's why it doesn't really make any sense at all for you to ask me to write this."
Ellis finally lifted his head and looked at him with a calm gaze, "Intuitive control is built on sufficient knowledge accumulation."
Nyx smirked and propped his chin up, "But I'm a genius."
Ellis stared at him, and after a moment, spoke slowly, "Geniuses don't just scribble the Abyssal runes around."
Nyx: "..."
Ellis' gaze remains unchanged as he continues to add, "A genius wouldn't fail to write a magical analysis."
Nyx: "..."
He slammed down his pen and glared at Ellis, "Are you deliberately irritating me?"
Ellis looked cold, "You can interpret it as urging."
Nyx glared at him for a few seconds, finally gritting his teeth, he grabbed the pen and started to write fast, "Okay, okay, okay, I'll write, I'll write, okay?"
Seeing this, Ellis nodded in satisfaction and continued to organize his literature.
The room fell into a brief silence.
Nyx wrote for about half an hour and finally got his analysis together. He stretched and casually tossed the paper toward Ellis' desk, "Done."
Ellis took it and scanned down. Then he frowned.
"Nyx."His tone was a few notches lower than usual.
Nyx looked at him lazily, "What?"
Ellis put the paper down, his tone so calm it was hair-raising, "You're scribbling."
Nyx froze, then sheepishly averted his gaze, "No, I'm obviously writing very well ..."
Ellis gently tapped the desktop, interrupting him, "You used fifty different adjectives to describe the 'wondrous' and 'mysterious' nature of Abyssal magic, but wrote no actual analysis."
Nyx: "..."
Ellis continued to flip through his paper, his voice cold, "You even ended with the sentence, 'In short, the mysteries of magic are endless, and humans do not need to over delve into them'."
Nyx gave a dry cough, "Isn't that philosophical?"
Ellis looked up at him with a dangerous gaze, "Rewrite it."
Nyx collapsed onto the table, "You're basically a demon!"
Ellis returned nonchalantly, "No, I'm just a mentor."
Nyx buried his face and muttered sullenly, "You're scarier than the Abyss ..."
Ellis looked at him and sighed slightly. He walked over to Nyx and softened his voice in a rare moment, "Nyx, your magic is growing too fast, if you don't control it well, you'll hurt yourself."
Nyx froze slightly and looked up at him.Ellis' expression was still calm and serious, but Nyx could feel that he was truly concerned about himself. It made an inexplicable flutter somewhere in his heart.
But he quickly returned to his usual hangdog demeanor and smiled crookedly, "Fine, I'll write it again for the sake of you caring about me so much."
Ellis nodded and turned back to his desk.
And as Nyx watched his back, the corners of his mouth unconsciously curled into a smile. He realized that Ellis, although he was too much in charge and his temper wasn't really good, it seemed, he wasn't that annoying either.
Complaining as he did, Nyx finally picked up a pen and honestly began to rewrite that magic power usage analysis.
Of course, his "honesty" was only relative. After writing for a while, he began to wander around, either poking his cheeks with the pen, or lying on the table in a daze, and occasionally sneaking a few glances at Ellis, as if observing whether the tutor had noticed his laziness.
